I don't normally post this type of thing, but felt compelled to do so for the sake of others who may be pouring through the internet while trying to make a decision on whether or not to have the Novasure procedure. My backstory- I'm 41 and have suffered with heavy, painful periods since age 11. I've had 2 children and had my tubes blocked after the second child. My periods were getting very irregular- coming as often as every 18-19 days. I had tried every birth control pill you can think of in an attempt to regulate them, but could never find one that didn't have bad side effects for me. My doctor recommended Novasure a few years ago, but I read so many negative reviews online that I never went through with it. I've always struggled with my weight anyway, so the tales of enormous weight gain following the procedure scared me away. I was also worried about loss of libido. Finally, I decided I couldn't live anymore with heavy periods every 3 weeks that were so painful, I required prescription pain meds just to function. I bit the bullet and had the procedure. My doctor put me completely under, but I was awake again in about 30 minutes. I had some severe cramping the first hour afterwards, but took the meds prescribed to me. After that, it was a breeze! That was a year ago and I haven't had a period since! I can kind of tell when it should happen- I may notice I'm a little anxious, my boobs are a little sore and I may get a pimple. Other than that- nothing! It's been fantastic and freeing! I haven't gained any weight and sex life is even better without worrying about all that! My only regret is not having done it years ago! So please, if you're considering Novasure, don't be like me and get scared by internet horror stories! Just find an experienced doctor- mine had preformed it many times and said 80% of his patients never had another period. And be sure and fill your pain meds ahead of time and stay ahead of the pain the first day or two. Good luck!
