Hello! Can anybody direct me to some of the narcotic conversion chart s. I have been taking meds for my back pain, and it seems as if they stopped working. Maybe I became drug intolarent, so I would like either to change the dose or change the drug, so I need narcotic conversion chart
to help me choose the proper drug. Thank you!
I honestly don’t think this is such a good idea. If you have problems with pain again, you should ask your doctor to direct you to another drug or another dose. What if you overdose or something, or chose some drug that may not suit your medical history and you don’t even know it? Don’t play with this stuff! It is better to be on the safe side and go with the doctor’s orders!!!!!
my doc doesnt have the answer to what med I should supplement B/T pain with. We tried Demerol at my suggestion but I just blew through it. He was thinking Methadone but Ive heard many scary stories about this drug and nothing positive.
Anyone have any Expirience with thoradol (oral)?

For back pain and it's chronic Opiates like Vicadine work, but if your taking Demeral you might want to go with Dilaudid or Morphine. Methadone didn't help me it just made me tired and all Toredol is is a suped up ibeprofin. Toredol isn't an opiod it's an anti inflamatory drug. If you want you can try it Good luck
In my humble opinion, methadone is the most effective, and longest acting narcotic anelgisc available. It's finally gaining acceptance again in mainstream medicine for the treatment of pain, consequently what it was originally created for. The Germans knew they were eventually going to war in the late 1930s are were ordered to create a synthetic opiate in the event thier access to the South East or the Middle East was cut.
I've used just about every pain med for severe back problems. I tried methadone for about 2 weeks, and stopped other meds, and the results were quite shocking. It's a sticky subject with certain physicians because of the stigma associated with methadone. However, if your Dr. is willing to write you a 30 day, I suspect you'll also be happy with the results. No nausea, no itching, no upset stomach, no dizziness, and constipation is not as severe. I highly reccommend chronic pain paitents, especially as it relates to back (and other ortho conditions) give it a try. It's much more effective than Oxycontin, Hydro, Fentanyl, etc. Typically it's administered 3 or 4 times a day, and after a few days, it reaches is max potential as it builds into the body. From then on, as long as you are taking the medication regularly, you'll find it significantly reduces the pain. Only downside i've read about, is that supposedely the cessation effects are somewhat rough. I did not experience that when I stopped using the pain med after 2 weeks. I would definitely reccommend the medication for pain. It's really a great pain med.

I dont see how people get these meds from their doctors. I had back surgery about 8 months ago and came out of it worse than before. I have to pretty much fight with the man to give me 5/325 vicodin and they hardly touch the pain.
Go to a different dr u have a legal right to pain relief
I have been on every pain killer for post surgery for a couple of years. I started low with morphine and ended up taking oxycontin in the end. This is the best yet most expensive medication available so it's better if you have a health plan. I am a flight medic by day so I have broken down the pills to the molecule levels so I knew what I was taking. All pain killers are addicting so be careful.
I totally agree with using methadone for pain. Especially in the pill form. It seems to last a lot longer as far as its half life that is spoken about. If I could turn back time I would have demanded to be slowly taken off methadone and put on something for when the pain comes on. Back pain comes in all shapes and sizes. Also do not expect to see your primary care doctor and be treated for chronic pain. Pain management is where you get the most for your specific needs.
