Hello! I am 47 years old female and I had my thyroid removed a two weeks ago. I would like to know what would be the best natural treatment for the post op period. What should I think about in my nutrition? All replies are welcome!

Hi there! Uff, it is so hard when one is left without a thyroid. My father had to go through the same procedure. We had to add supplemental vitamins that contained ascorbic acid and thiamine into his nutrition. His daily calorie intake had to be high in order to compensate for increased metabolic activity that rapidly depletes glycogen reserves. A lot of cold fluids as well. We had to worry that his weight remains within 10% of pretreatment weight. However, I believe that your doctor should tell you what is best for you, and your health condition and recommend a specific nutrition that would fit your needs
