If you can't get to a vet right away, try rinsing off the wound with luke warm water.

It might heal on it's own if it isn't too bad.

I don't think that good idea is that you try to treat this by your self. If there is a pus and blood, the best thing is that you take him to a veterinarian. Hi might have an infection. How did he get the wound?

I have to agree with what the other posters are saying on this thread. Your salamander definitely sounds like he needs to see a vet as soon as possible. Do you know any veterinarians in your area who actually work with amphibians or is that why you have not taken him to a vet yet? I know that some doctors are only able to work with mammals. I think in that case that doing an internet search should help you out. Please let us know how things turn out for you and your poor little salamander. Good luck to you.

Only the veterinarian can help here. This must be quite uncomfortable for your pet and expensive for you, but you can't let this go, especially if you have other pets that can be affected by this. I don't see another option. I hope you find the right vet. Good luck!

Go to a vet as soon as you can. If could lead to a nasty infection that could be harmful to humans if they touch it! Take him to the vet!!

Hi, I'm 1 month pregnant, and I have a pet parrot African grey. I'm worried about catching something from my pet, or it could be harmful for my baby if I clean out the cage. What do you think?
