I am a little worried because my period is more than a week late. The last time I had sex was on April 30th and I stopped taking the pill on May 5th. I've been abstinent ever since I stopped taking the pill. Three days after I stopped the pill I had what I think was an early period (it was 2 weeks after my last period, and it lasted for 4 days). I took two pregnancy tests and they were both negative. Still I am worried because they are not 100% accurate. My period is late and I am getting worried. I'm thinking about getting a blood pregnancy test to be sure and have peace of mind. Is it too early for the blood test to be accurate? Should I wait a little longer for my period to come?

Hi honey! You are NOT pregnant! Just a quick biology lesson - so you feel at ease - when you are on the pill you do NOT ovulate, so when you go on the sugar pills or lower estrogen brings on a "false" period! It just allows the womans body to shed the lining of her uterus - a period! You NEED an egg and a sperm to get pregnant! So NO egg, no chance of pregnancy - UNLESS ovulation does happen - which CAN happen 1% of the time! BUT even then it is usually around the time that you would do - which in a 28 day cycle would be 14 days after the 1st day of your period! When you come off of the pill it CAN take upto 3 months for your body to get back into a regular cycle again! So when you stopped the pill - it brought on a light period (as there wasn't much lining build up) and then the body needs to build it up again and then start on a regular basis! So relax honey you ARE NOT pregnant! It's TOTALLY normal! Take care!
