I'm a 20 year old male and also don't have any tear ducts at all. My eyes water constantly. I've been offered the jones tube surgery but am hesitant. It really is annoying sometimes having to explain to new people how you are not actually crying lol.
I'm a 14 year old American. I also was born with no tear ducts however my eyes don't water excessively. I don't have to use any drops because I have enough to keep my eyes from being dry. Is anyone like this or know what it is?
I have the same thing but I was born this way. I'm twenty and I kwno nothing about it.
my grandson is 3 and he was born with this how do they fix it or can they
.Tear ducts are scientifically named the lacrimal puncta-they simply act as openings to the lacriminal duct which gives a passage for aqueous humor (eye fluid) to drain down through the nose. From what i have read i presume you have a lacriminal duct but just no tear ducts-hense your lacriminal bypass surgery. The Jones tubes will have basically acted as an aid to open your ducts and create a canal between your lacrimal puntum and nasolacrimnal duct (allowing moisture to lubricate the eyes-aswell as be drained-stopping red 'crying' eyes). However since the tubes have fallen out you could simply attempt to gently replace them yourself or return to your doctor and ask for other surgical options after clearly explaining your discomfort. Some Possible procedures include
+Dacryocystorhinostomy is the surgical procedure usually used to treat most cases of blocked tear ducts. This technique creates a new route for tears to drain out through your nose normally again by developing a new connection between your lacrimal sac and your nose. This new route bypasses the duct that empties into your nose (nasolacrimal duct), which is typically the blockage site.
+stenting or intubation, tiny tubes are used to open up blockages and narrowing within the tear drainage system. Again, general anesthesia is usually used. Your Eye M.D. threads a very thin tube through one or both puncta in the corner of your eye, all the way through the tear drainage system and out through your nose.

+A balloon catheter dilation procedure opens tear drainage passages that are narrowed or blocked by scarring or inflammation. General anesthesia is used. A narrow catheter (tube) with a deflated balloon on the tip is guided through the lower nasolacrimal duct. The doctor then uses a pump to inflate and deflate the balloon along the drainage system.
hope this helps!!!

Hi, I'm a 38 year old kiwi women who was born without a tear duct in my left eye. It has always watered. When I was a baby surgeons decided it was to risky to operate and left the option open when I was old enough to decide. I decided not to go that route but recently I went to renew my licence and I failed the eye test and after seeing the optometrist he said I had a significant weakness in that eye and glasses wouldn't make my vision better. I am now considering whether surgery will be the best option in the near future. I am hoping with the advent of laser surgery and new technology it could be a strait forward procedure but don't know anything at this time and am keen to follow this thread and see what others have had done.
i am 44 and dont have tear ducts...they water often...but not constantlly. Cold weather, wind and emotional situations can stimulate them to water. Dont have any redness and havent done any surgeries although offered when i waas 5. I just deal with it...rarelly have to explain it anymore...but beats alternatives( ie. dry eyes or mucus or any swelling) Good Luck.
hmm I seriously don't remeber the name of the procedure done on me , the doctor drilled a hole in the coner of my eye in the bone a small hole and the rest I dont remember and no its not the tube cause it wasnt possible in my case , this was done in the year 2007 .My eyes dont water as much only if my noes is blocked since the doctor made a passage that drains the tears into my noes , this was a highly qualified doctor who made this procedure and wrote about it , hes well know Dr Christopher dsouza I think thats his name .
Hi, I'm 57 years old. And just like you, I have never made tears in my life. My eyes are completely normal in every other way, i have never had any problems with dryness or such. I simple have no tears! I have never met anyone who has this same problem, and no doctor has ever heard of anything like this. It seems to be extremely rare. I wish i could at least find a doctor or someone who knows what this disorder is called. I feel sad that i will never know what it's like to shed tears
Hi So sorry to hear of your problems. I was born without the ability to produce crying tears. I have Sjogrens syndrome. It is confirmed by a litmus paper test. Knowing what you have certainly helps to deal with it. I hope you get more satisfaction from the doctors soon. Ann
I'm a 38 yr old new Zealand women born without a tear duct in my left eye that also waters constantly. I was recently told I have amplyopia and iris transluminence in that eye the optician didn't know if it was related to being born without a tear duct.
I'm 60 and have no tear ducts so my eyes water all the time, however my teeth are affected! They tend to get cavities more than the general population. Would like to know about teeth issues with no tear ducts. Is it connected? My sister doesn't have them either and she has dentures.
I wouldn't let anyone touch my ducts. Not only are the holes not there but the substructure or drains aren't there either. These doctors are taking your money, putting people in pain and not resolving anything. No tear ducts means you don't have the drains so your eyes water ALL the time with nowhere for the tears to go.
