I first noticed a white spot on the right side of my throat 2 months ago. I am a 54 year old male. I went to a doctor and was told it was not strep or tonsillitis but was given an antibiotic for one week. The spot never went away and another one just showed up a day ago on the same side of the throat - again nonpainful. I also have had a burning sensation in my mouth and tongue for about 6 months now. l did pay a woman for oral sex 10 months ago and a condom was used. This was a very stupid thing to have done and I also have had myself checked for all other STDs - all negative. I also have had a 3 HIV tests done since and all tests were negative with the last test a week ago. Any ideas what these spots may be would be appreciated.

Sound's like it could be a oral thrush, or in other word's an oral yeast infection. Or possibly a viral infection, antibiotics have no affect on viral infection's.. But white patches are caused when that part of the throat has become irritated due to a sickness such as infection, as you are old your immune system is going to take longer to handle a viral infection, there's no cure they usually go away on there own. You can try a few remedies abd even try gargling hydrogen peroxide as this will kill any germ's that could be causing this, warm salty water and raw unprocessed honey should make the white spot go away.. Hope i could help
