This has been happening to me for over 8 years my left nostril bleeds before and when I'm menstrating. Sometimes 3 or more times a day for a span of almost two weeks. I've gone to an ENT as well as other doctors and they believe it's due to a deviated septum (deviates to the left) as well as a weak blood vessel in my left nostril. The fluctuation of hormones prior and during menstration causes the blood vessel to weaken causing a nose bleed. I've  noticed coffee and caffine also aggravates it causing more nosebleeds than usual. You can have your doctor cauterize the blood vessel if it is not too far up. Mine is too far up so they will cauterize it when I get surgey to fix the deviation.

This has been happening to me lately too. I thought might have something to do with my period but I wasn't completely sure. I'm 20 but this has started about 5 months ago and I started getting nosebleeds( from my right nostril) during my period that would last a few minutes but come back about five minutes later. I also started to worry a bit when I would get clots in the blood. But recently it was weird because my period went off 3 days ago and i just got another nosebleed a few minutes ago. I hope someone can find out what this is, I'm in a culinary school and nosebleeds can cause a real problem in a kitchen.

My daughter is 13. She has always had nosebleeds but it wasn't til recently that I noticed she gets them right before her period. Some of them are really heavy and bleed for a long time and always only on ber ride side nostril. She has a physical next week and I hope the doctor can explain why?

I am 44 years old and have had chronic nosebleeds my entire life. I have ABSOLUTELY noticed a direct correlation between a nosebleed and the beginning of my period. I do get them for other reasons, too - maybe the air is dry or I'm about to get a cold - but I can bet money that once a month I will get an unexplained nosebleed and, then, voila! my period starts the next day.

Nosebleeds rarely happen on both sides at the same time, and it is VERY rare to lose so much blood it creates a problem. Just squeeze it nice and tight up by the bridge of your nose for about 10 minutes.

I usually joke about just having too much blood in my body around this time (not medically true, of course).

You are not alone and you are not crazy! Hang in there!

I'm 19 and I've been nose bleeding since I got my period, I was 9. I thought this just frequently happens normally. Until now I realized it happens when period is almost coming. Weird that this is common to girls who get their periods. I thought Im the only one. Still wondering whats the reason behind this.

I am 43 and I also get nose bleeds only during my period. It has only been going on for a few years but now it never fails. I only have nose bleeds during my menses and every period I have nose bleed. Usually out of my left nostril. My gyn said no connection but come on, there has to be.

You get nose bleeds at start or just before menstration because of the hormone estrogen it causes your blood vessels to swell and rupture in your nose. It's nothing to worry about. If it bothers you though you should go to the doctor

Experiencing nose bleeds before and during menstruation is actually a common occurrence for some women. The disorder is called vicarious menstruation. This is due to the surging of hormones, such as estrogen, in the blood stream at the the onset of a menstrual period. Estrogen and other hormones can cause the blood vessels in the nose to flare and fill up with blood. This disorder is a rare occurrence, and only effects a handful of menstruating women. However, medical attention should be sought out if this problem becomes bothersome.

I get nose bleeds before my period as well. I don't know why but am guessing it has something to do with hormone levels raising our blood pressure and or thinning our blood.

Vicarious Menstruation is the name of this problem. I experience blood when I blow my nose right before and during my period. I had it when I was pregnant too. I miscarried. Does anyone who experienced this have fertility issues? I'm interested in a possible correlation.

I'm 16 and For the past year and a half I've gotten a nose bleed before my period starts. It's like an alarm & very annoying as it can be very heavy & just happens if I rub my nose or blow it.. Someone needs to investigate this more!!
