Novasure Endometrial Ablation and SEVERE abdominal pain with weight gain

I had the Novasure late April 25, 2014. I started having heavier periods in September and now in December I have had worse cramps that I had before I had the fibroids removed and before the Novasure. On day 1 of my cycle I had extreme cramping, diarrhea, cramps all over my abdomen, nausea, and cold flashes. I have NEVER had this before. If it's like this next month I will go back to my Gynecologist.

Yes!!!!! I had NOVASURE done 4/12/13 I still have a period. Its uses to be four heavy days. Know I have seven days regular and spotting several days after. I too hard serious pain feeling like someone is tearing my uterus out. Have to take strong meds to eased the pain. Its hurts so bad I can't even think. Have appointment with my doctor can't take the p as on anymore. I also have gain over 20 pounds since the novasure.

Did you have a full hysterectomy or partial? Right now they are putting me on birth control to see if that helps with the ovary pain/ovulation. I'm afraid a partial wouldn't be effective as my worst pain comes with ovulation.

I had Novasure Out Patient Surgery in the OR June of 2014 due to 3 months straight of heavy bleeding. I came home the same day. It went well. I do have terrible leg pain, that seems to just get worse. I also get that bloated feeling and pressure monthly, but no bleeding. I have always has trouble with my back, and hips, and feet, but the pain in my legs is something new. At times it feels like my legs want to give out from under me. Not sure if any of this is related, but it sure seems to be. I work as a floor nurse, and only take OTC meds as needed. As long as I don't have to walk a lot the pain is not as bad. I would say that there are too many complications that I have read about afterwards, and would caution anybody from having Novasure without telling them to first ask around and see if they feel it's worth the risk.

What a joke, I had this procedure done December 2013, was in lots of pain for first 6-8 weeks on lots of antibiotics and pain meds too, it died down around February and I thought great only for it to return in April waited until May and finally went to my g.p who treated me for kidney infection no improvement so goes back to g.p who sends me of to hospital, was admitted for almost a week, being told it was kidney infection, then it was being caused by fluid retention, then I went home catheterised and on lots of meds, was admitted again a week later, and told my clip from my sterilization back in 2007 this was done, asked to stay in another night then if consultants agreed I would be taken to theater the next day, then it was like it was never mentioned,
Long story short I've seen urologist,kidney doc,spine specialist and more recently gyno who has been honest and said this pain is down to nova sure ablation and the only way they can fix this is by removing my uterus, so not even two years and il be having the procedure done! Yet what I don't get is why couldn't all these different docs put two and two together a year of unneceserray suffering pain feels horrendous some times I can't walk dress go to work I'd rather have my full blown periods any day too this,

Add me to the list. I believe I had my Novasure in 2009 and started having problems a couple of years later. This month was the worst so far. I had 2 days of being balled up in the fetal position with a heating pad. 800 mg of motrin did not even touch it or take the edge off. On the second day, I took a Flexoril, then motrin, and after 2 hours of no relief I took a Vicodin (and the only reason I even have this stuff is that I don't even take it when it is perscribed). I am convinced that I need a hystorectomy at 40. It truly feels like labor pain.

I had my novasure done on August 1, 2011. And after 2 weeks of the surgery I started having the same pain u r having. I get really bad stabbing piercing pains in the uterus and in my overys. Now one doctor told me that my bladder could be causing the pain cause my bladder might of dropped. I go to the doctors next month 2 see if my bladder is causing the pain. If so they will.tack my bladder back up. If not then doctors will see why I'm having these pains and what could be causing them. I also had my tubes tied in 2005.

Going to doctors tomorrow. The pain was the worse ever. I came on my period two days ago and had it for 1 day. Other then that I still been having periods after surgery years ago.

I had the Novasure - endometrial ablation three months ago June 2015 and have suffered so much pain in my lower back, hips, groin, and leg pain. It has really put a toll on my quality of life. I cannot do things that I enjoy because of the pain. I hurt more in the morning when I can hardly get out of bed without having to basically roll out of bed and when my pain meds wear off. Please someone give me some answers. My doc now wants to do a hysterectomy. I am afraid of having it done and it still not fix the pain.
I am 49 and if the hysterectomy would take away the pain, I am all for it.

I am so glad I found this post! Today is 14 Oct 2015, its one year exactly since I had the ablation in Oct 2014. For the first eight months, my periods got lighter and lighter and I was really happy with the result. However, in June 2015, on the second day of my period I experienced the most excruciating and debilitating pain, I ended up in bed with pain relief and a hot water bottle. The pain continued for 3 days in total gradually getting less and less - 1 day of being bed bound - 2 days of being very uncomfortable. I put this down to a one-off until I realised that this was cyclical pain and is now happening every month of my period for the same amount of time. I visited my Gynaecologist yesterday, who said that this sometimes happened with ablations....! Er, no-one told me! I asked her about Ashermans Syndrome she confirmed that an ablation would put my uterus at high risk of this and didn't seem surprised. (Thanx then....) I was very upset and told her that I would rather have my heavy bleeding back than to have this pain - she then suggested a hysterectomy. I told her that having an ablation was to avoid having a hysterectomy in the first place! She could see that I was very adamant against further surgery, as I now wonder about what other stuff they don't tell you, like the ablation, so for now she has suggested the contraceptive pill (which I have not been on since I was 28, I am now 48!). The pill is progestogen-only, meaning I take it every day and I should not have any periods, technically no period - no pain right? Now I worry about side effects of being on the pill but I am going to give it a go and see if it works out. For anyone considering this surgery, I would think long and hard, I knew it could fail but by failing I thought that meant that my heavy bleeding would continue, I did not know that it meant getting an entirely different and worse problem to deal with.

Nova sure November 2014. First few months lighter periods. March no period at all. Thought all was success. April 2015 my body feels like I am pregnant. Breasts tender and enlarged, swollen ankles, and gained 7 pounds all in one week. Went away after two weeks. May 2015 pain begins. Labor like pains that takes my breath. I had natural childbirth with two of my three children and this pain is beyond anything I've experienced before. Now it is ridiculous the pain I am experiencing. Lasting more than a week at a time and even wakes me up from deep sleep. Went to internal medical doctor. Had an MRI and discovered fluid trapped in my Fallopian tube causing inflammation. Sent me back to my gyno. Only option now is hysterectomy. I am 44 and ready to be over all of this. So thankful I found this forum.

I have been in hospital 4 times since Novasure. Nobody can tell me why I have this pain that is excruciating. Started to think it was all in my head - but reading here tonight gives me hope that it is something real. Just no doctors in Johannesburg can tell me what is going on. I might go back to hospital tonight it is so bad....but I know that they will not find anything :-(

That's exactly what I was thinking; did they do any clinical trials to see overall outcomes over time? This seems to be very common with patients having had an ablation yet this reaction is mentioned "nowhere". If I knew this might happen I might have been disuaded from having it. It's also worrisome that Drs don't even know what a Novasure ablation is...

Holy c**p!! So I'm not going insane and I'm not alone.. I had my ablation done 5 years ago..and 6 months after started having extreme lower left quad pain! I had kidney stones so the doctor chocked the pain being from that! Well the stones are finally virtually gone and every 2-8 weeks this pain hits me!! My periods were irregular and heavy and hardly symptomatic... The pain can be bearable to on my knees writhing in pain and in tears!! I have had frequent kidney/bladder infections throughout my life and ironically antibiotics seem to help the pain go away... And then last night as I writhed in pain I finally realized I never had anything like this until after my ablation!! So tired of this pain :(!
