I’m praying that it takes them away as that was my main reason for having the procedure.

Hello Ladies......It will be 20 years this December for me and I had the Novasure ablation which was a new way of doing ablations and the day I had it done, a Representative for the company was there to help my OB/Gyn. Now that was embarrassing to say the least, a total stranger? Anyway, the procedure doesn't take long at all but after, I had really bad cramps. I was given a Lortab and 800 mg. Motrin in the recovery area but it hardly did a thing. After getting home the cramps were so bad I was crying which even upset my dog who jumped onto the bed to be with me...she was so sweet. I had those cramps for about 4 hours and then they slowly stopped...thank the Lord. I slowly recovered within a week and when I had my follow up visit with my doctor he said everything went well and did I have any questions. Since I was feeling ok I couldn't think of anything to ask him. All I can say is this, I was 50 when I had my ablation. I had been struggling with long, heavy periods for 3-4 years. Before my ablation when I'd have my period, I couldn't even leave the house. I was using Super tampons and pads every 20 minutes. At one point the bleeding was so bad I had my husband take me to the ER. They took some blood and gave me an IV with normal saline and was told I was a bit anemic and to get in touch with my OB?GYN. Not much help there. Anyway, before the ablation my doctor ordered me to have a D&C which I had in November along with a trans-vaginal ultrasound. The ultrasound found that I had an area inside my uterus that was thicker than normal and most likely the cause of the heavy bleeding. The D&C would also help to diagnose whether I had uterine cancer or not, which fortunately wasn't found. I think the D&C was worse than the ablation as it took me 2 weeks to start feeling normal again and not feel like my insides were going to fall out. I was pale and couldn't even stand up straight. Well, as I said, it is going on 20 years but I will say this, had I not had this procedure, I don't know how I would have survived.....since I had become anemic, had no life, couldn't visit my daughter or grandkids, that was no way to live for anyone. I do seem to have moments where I feel I am having some menstrual cramps but not bad enough to keep me from functioning or having to take any medication. Not sure what that is about. It was a lifesaver for me. Ladies, ask questions get informed before deciding what is best for you. I do think having had the D&C the month before the ablation helped as I never had another period. Also, I think my age helped too because I had only another 2 years and I was told I was post menopausal. I remember being told about two of my aunts who suffered terrible periods before they too were post menopausal....so must be a genetic thing. We as women seem to endure so much during our lifetimes and yet we outlive men.....go figure. Now I am a widow and 68 but I do my best to keep going. I hope anyone considering this procedure will be well informed and have success if they go forward. God bless.

I had the oblation done about 10/11 years ago. Periods had stopped. But the pain for two years now. Lower back and pelvic pain. I have PCOS, I'm tired all the time I'm in pain. I know I take more over the counter meds then I ever did on my periods. And trust me they where so..so..bad. the drs said I was lucky to have the two kids I got. Now have to wait till March to see GYN. I do not recommend having this done.
