I suspected food and some drinks yet I have fasted two days and still there is a large mucus buildup that apparently is not coming from my lungs but my esophagus.

You may be using infected beddings - try and wash all pillow covers, blankets and bed sheets, sun them before using them again. You should locate your bed somewhere far from the window and make sure that late night draft does not fall on you when you sleep. Tie a warm cloth around your neck. Boil crushed ginger, garlic and lemon with little honey in a pot and drink a cup before breakfast and before going to sleep.

During the day I'm fine, it's the night time that is killing me. I cough excessively, have abundant amounts of mucus that I need to cough up and spit out all night. This has been going on for over 7 months. Tried Nasonex and that doesn't help at all. Mucus is white in color so it's not an infection. The weird thing about the whole situation is the fact that the symptons occur only in the night time. Once it gets dark I start coughing and the mucus builds up.. Can you please help me understand my condition and possibly offer some advice. Thanks

A clove is a clove. They are a spice originating in Asia and are commonly found in cigarettes (often called cloves), a popular brand would be Djarum for example. It is not garlic! Go google it.

I have exactly the same symptoms and it's driving me crazy, I have tried lots of things to try and get rid of it I am taking covonia Cattah relief at the moment and allergy tablets, but I noticed that one comment was the blood pressure tablets brand, I am on Amlodipine 5mg and now I think about this the symptoms started about 4 weeks after I was put on these from Ramopril blood pressure tablets, I am now wondering if it could be the blood pressure tablets that are causing this?My doctor had said it was post nasal drip I might stop the blood pressure tablets and see if it changes anything?

Get a 'himalayan salt pipe inhaler', you will cough up everything on your chest for the first few days then after that clear as a anything, also prop your pillows up so your not laying flat. I had the same problem for about 2 years i was on antibiotics and all sorts and now i can sleep through a full night without waking up i rarely ever cough phlegm up these days. The inhalers can be found on ebay for around £10... it doesnt feel like its working but use it for 5 minutes 3 times a day and it will really help. Its actually cured my grandmas friend of all of her symptoms of COPD she barely coughs so although there is damage to the lungs there are no nasty symptoms. Hope this helps

Lisinopril is well known as the coughing pill. It is a BP pill and Ramopril is in the same class. I took Lisinopril for a week once and made my doctor give me something else due to the constant coughing.

How do you sleep? On your back, side or are you tummy sleepers? It sounds to me you all have a form of "Post Nasal Drip". Most certainly to cause sleep deprivation especially if you are sleeping on your back. Why? gravity! Normally, you don't notice the mucus from your nose because it mixes with saliva and drips harmlessly down the back of your throat to be swallowed gradually and continuously throughout the day.During day light hours your standing, sitting, basically on your feet. Your talking, drinking and eating throughout the day making post nasal drip unconsciously going unnoticed during waking hours. When it's time to go to sleep at night do not fall asleep on your back. Woman and men, try sleeping on your side. Men will find it easier to sleep on your tummy for obviously reasons. Both genders, get use to sleeping in any other position other than sleeping on your back. Back sleepers, try sleeping on an incline also seems to help people with post nasal drip especially those of you use to, or are most comfortable sleeping on your back. If you find sleeping on an incline relieves your mucus, post nasal drip problems, there are a number of bed makers that allow you to position yourself on an incline with an assortment of comfort levels you can experiment with for one or two people. I also suggest you explore, find patient medical information for over the counter 12 Hour Nasal Relief Sprays,"Nasal Steroids" including its uses, side effects, safety, interactions with other medications, warnings and user information. Talk to your doctor, your pharmacist if your taking daily prescription medications for advice when ever you introduce over the counter products and medications. I highly recommend you look into what causes post nasal drip here

My coughing just started a couple days ago. Some people's post got me thinking mold is the problem because we found some earlier this summer in the ac unit. I'd wiped it down when we found it but only on the outside. So I'm going to check on that.

But for temporary relief , yesterday I drank some regular green tea with honey (2 cups) in the morning; and I didn't cough all night. I'll do it tomorrow and see if it works again and update. But in the dusting and cleaning my house and getting someone from the apartment to clean my ac

I have the same seems like its quite common really. I do how ever smoke. But I have had this same problem for a few years before I started and smoking has nit made it worse. Some days its that bad that the coughing up of the flem causes me to throw up. And its atleast 3 1/4's of a cup of just sticky flem/snot its worse in the middle of summer and winter. I've had enough of this and starting a new job where I interacting with customers I need to find something to help. I cant eat dairy products as I have an immediate reaction to it so I've stopped eating drinking it. I'm in the process of quitting smoking also. As for tooth past I don't not brush my teeth at night so it cant be that.

My son was experiencing the same thing and it ended up being an allergic reaction to the laundry soap we washed the sheets in! Ever since we switched laundry soap he's been doing it! One night I switched what he was sleeping on(with something washed in old detergent) just to see and it went a away in seconds!
