This is day 5 post my operation, this has been the most traumatic experience of my life, the pain is unbearable especially every time i have to go pass stools! The stool softener that the Dr prescribed it bloats my stomach & causes more discomfort & pain,,,,, pls give advice
I'm in the same situation as most on here, I'm day 10 after surgery and my open wound is not healing or getting smaller. I had a few external ones removed and now looks like I have two or three extra assholes, it's really stinging and feels like it's burning most of the time I move around. How can I help it to close? I've been given cream to use three times a day but that seems like it's stopping the healing as its not being able to heal by forming a scab. It's very difficult to keep clean in that area as it hurts to touch when I'm putting the cream on.
My wound is the size of a thumb nail and round, if anything it's getting bigger and deeper. What can I use that works to heal and close the wound and how long does it take?
Omg I am dying laughing , I just had this surgery and feel like dying but you gave me a good laugh because your expressed everything I feel.
Hi All,
I've had 2 hemorrhoidectomies now. 1st one I cried until day 10, when I could finally have BM without screaming pain. I had no drugs and was told to take salt baths.
Second time round also had banding of internal, I woke from surgery much better than the 1st and first 4 days I really thought I got this. It hurt, but I had drugs and knew what I was in for. Come day 5 whilst the pain isn't as extremely I feel like my ass has its own heartbeat. I'm taking baths, cleaning and drying the area but i have constant discomfort and is oozing from the open hole.
All in all, the recover is the most painful thing. Ever. Lying down and baths help a lot but prescription drugs help the most. Don't stress about the open wound, it heals but takes time. Sitting on a doughnut, helps.

Guys, at least is what looks like for me. But doesn't matter, you guys helped me a lot. I'm just a wife that is taking care of a husband that had this horrible surgery :( He is day 5 today, pain level for him almost pass out so many times. He was constipate and yesterday he had BM and the open wounds appears. Horrible two big wounds, he was crying in pain, someone wrote here to use the hair dryer, is been helping him to give some conforte Today called the doctor for more pain meds, he is in one new, But I'm note seen any improvement today. We are married for 25years, Friday the day of his surgery was our party. I hate those MF we need more innovation in this type of surgery :(
i am on day 10 and i notice some thanking out today also i’m scared to pull on it
this surgery is not the business at all and recovery is taking so long.

Hi! Same thing here. Two external, three internal removed and no stiches, which is common in the U.S. It took about 4 weeks for one of the externals to heal, the other about 6 weeks, and the first one to heal broke open again at 7 weeks. This was the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced and it just keeps going. :/
Day 10 post hemorrhoidetomy for me. (47 year old male). A little over a week ago I had 3 large internal roids removed and a could smaller ones tied off. Recovery had been excruciating to say the least, hellish in fact. Once I got settled at home after surgery I had no idea what I was in for. My first few nights were well sleepless due to the pain and coming off anesthesia. I couldn't lay, stand, kneel, sit or anything else to provide comfort. At one point I was curled up in a fetal position on the bathroom floor crying my eyes out. I've shed many a tear since then.
My first BM was two days after surgery and didn't think i was going to get through it. It was stool and blood mix. Urinating was an issue initially but that has improved. I had a fear of bladder block from the surgery. My BM's have been loose to almost water, and I've had a little incontinence as early as last night. Couldn't get on the stool fast enough and made a mess in the bathroom. Just what my wonderful wife wanted to clean up at 1 AM on a Saturday night. I have fear each time I feel the need to go potty. I'm afraid to eat anything of sustenance, and i'm certain I've lost weight. As a matter of fact a half a slice of pizza last night didn't go well for me.
Two days ago I noticed a string hanging out of me. I assume this is normal part of healing process? But it makes it hard to pat dry my bottom. I'm using a combination of T-paper and moist wipes to clean the area. I've also found that squatting in the tub with the hand held wand spraying on my bottom provides comfort. I have lost bowel control in the tub as well. I take several sitz baths a day which soothe me.
I've only been off work a week and few days. Quite honestly I don't see myself going back for a least two more weeks. I have a Dr. appointment in 10 days, hopefully I will feel a little better by then. I've taken two walks albeit only to the end of the street, because i don't want to be far from home.
PAIN!!!! The pain drops me to my knees at times and just sob into a pillow. My anus will spasm which drives me up a wall because I can touch, itch or scratch it to make it feel better. About mid-week I thought I was getting better, i felt good for the most part. Then WHAM! I was in dire straits with excruciating pain. As I sit and type this message i'm uncomfortable and in pain but its tolerable. I'm sure that will all changes.
As sadistic as this sounds I'm comforted knowing that what I'm experiencing, other have or are going through. Seems we are all dealing with the same post surgery issues and concerns.
I'll keep you all in my prayers.

I’m at day 5 and it hurts to laugh but I couldn’t stop laughing at 2-3 extra assholes lol. My stitches came out so it looks like I have one extra... anyways, luckily my pain has subsided tremendously but I have not taken a c**p yet. That is becoming worrisome. I am glad to see others have the problem of popping stiches and drs dong seem to be concerned.
If you are suffering from this you should write a response... reading all these has really helped me.

Friday will be post week 4. Rarely do I have extreme pain. Mostly now it’s sorenesss and a dull uncomfortable feeling. Had four large internal roids removed. Do I feel normal yet, No! But I’m tolerating it. What i do find is that now that I’ve started walking short distances (1/2 to 1) mile each day I come home and within an hour I’m dealing with more bloody stool and clot discharge. Still doing about three sitz bathes a day which help. Also applying Calmspetine to the outer area. Back to work next week and nervous. Will be bringing an extra pair of adult diapers since I deep ooze at times. Trying to get my diet back to normal but staying away from spicy foods. Changed out to prune juice and dried prunes also Miralax in Gatorade just for variety. Did forget a couple days and had hard stool. Bad painful choice for me. Lost 12 lbs since surgery. I try keep the moaning and groaning to minimum, too upsetting for my wife and kids. Carry a pillow to sit on wherever I go to sit. Doctor was spot on when he said this isn’t going to be easy. Hang in there.
What kind of cram were you given
Calmoseptine OTC about $10. Has made it soothing after a BM. Got it at Walgreens or CVS. It’s a must in my opinion. Got it about week three. Should have had it on day 3.
I'm right at 6 week post opt mark and like almost everyone else, the recovery was pure hell. My post opt recovery was intensified because I couldn't urinate after the surgery so I was sent home with a catheter (ouch) that I had to wear for 4 days. That was the beginning of a difficult 4 weeks. After the catheter was removed on day 4, I had my first of 3 consecutive bowel movements in a one hour time frame. I almost passed out a couple times and I popped two of my stitches. The continued pain and spasms after those bowel movements is something I'm sure I will eventually need counseling to help forget. The spasm were uncontrollable even when laying down. The pain and discomfort was unreal. I stopped taking narcotic pain medicine to avoid constipation 3 days after surgery so I suffered with pain to avoid more pain during bowel movements.
Exactly one week after surgery, I started to bleed internally and had to be rushed to the hospital where I stayed for 3 days in ICU. The bleeding stopped after about 14 hours but I had lost quite a bit of blood. Not to mention, I couldn't urinate again and was once again given a catheter (double ouch) to wear for 10 days. The doctors said an internal stitch must have loosened. My surgeon said he had been doing the procedure for 25 years and never had that happen. I guess, lucky me. I had lost 15 lbs by the time I left the hospital. He also told me 90% of his patients pop their stitches which would have been nice to know before the surgery.
Going into my third week, I was feeling better and actually started working from home. I bought a donut pillow to sit on a couple of days after surgery so that help quite a bit and I still use it. Right after my surgery, I stopped eating all meat and pastas for 2 weeks. I started eating fish and a small amounts of pasta in week 3. In week four I kept working from home and maintained a strict diet with very little meat and pasta. In week 5, I went back to work and was feeling pretty good but I bought a donut pillow for my chair at work that I still use in week 6.
My recommendation for anyone considering this surgery or just had it done is to stop eating meats and large amounts of pasta 1 - 2 weeks before surgery or right after surgery. Eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, etc. for most of your recovery time to help with bowel movements. Drink a ton of water (I mean a ton) to help with bowel movements. Take at least 4 weeks off of work because you will need it. Take stool softeners before surgery and throughout recovery. I will be taking stool softeners for 3 months. The common theme here is to MAKE BOWEL MOVEMENTS AS EASY as possible. I also started using petroleum jelly to help heal my open wounds from stitches popping. The petroleum jelly helps to remove moisture and in turn helps with healing process. My wounds started closing a week after using petroleum jelly.
For those who believe in God, prayer helps a ton as well. It's been six weeks and I feel much better and that is saying a lot based to what I've been through.

Four weeks and a few days post op. Went back to work today. No pain or issues. Did bring diddy bag of extra underwear, Calmestopine, wipes. The ointment helps tremendously. Still slight amounts of blood in stool but I expect it. Off all meds. However drinking powder stool softener twice a day. Sleeping way better too. Two nights ago my wife actually got to sleep in bed with me after four weeks of not. She was huge in helping me get through this.
