Thank you. I have been on birth control to help with the pain and to shrink the cysts. However, the cysts have decreased in size and knock on wood, the pain doesn't bother me now! My doctor said I could get pregnant, but I would have to plan my pregnancies and try and try! :-( But, it'll def. be awhile because I am single!

When i was 16 I was diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian syndrome and my dr. said I am a little over weight and if I lose some weight it might just disapear. He also stated that I only have one symptom which is multiple cysts on my ovaries I am very scared that my fiancee and I will not concieve. All though my dr. says he will put me on some pills that will help me ovulate and be more fertile. My fiancee insist I freak myself out but wouldn't you? I am so nervous are there any over the counter drugs that will help, because I have found if i only miss one birth control pill I start spotting. So i cannot just hop off them.

I've had two surgeries to remove cysts on my ovaries. Unfortunately one of my ovaries was damaged and had to be taken out. It seems like I have this problem with cysts every 3-4 years. But now I am hearing about a new method to take care of a cyst: rather than surgery, there is a way to insert a needle and drain the cysts without going through surgery. It is very difficult to get pregnant if you have cysts on your ovaries, even if they are not the kind that do any damage and might go away on their own. If you want to get pregnant and don't want to wait for cysts to resolve themselves, try to get them removed by draining them with a needle- it's a very simple procedure.

I am new to PCOS. I have had irregular menses since youth, weight gain has been consistent throughout my adult life and multiple other problems. Here is the kicker no doctor has ever mentioned PCOS to me, even though I have weight issues, irregular menses, acne, inflammation issues and potentially arthritis, prediabetes, elevated liver enzymes at times. I have had 4 children and a total of 6 pregnancies and all with no problems, usually getting pregnant within two months of trying. I am positive now that the reasons never mentioned PCOS to me was because I could get pregnant. But after researching all my problems someone suggested PCOS because it became clear that I have everything but infertility. I approached my doctor who is not convinced I have PCOS. I am waiting on lab and ultrasound results but the tech mentioned I have fluid filled sacs in my ovaries and refused to tell me more. I came home and realized by researching that I have many cysts in my ovaries and no one ever bothered telling me this. The tech having cysts in the ovaries is common and normal for some people. Well I am now worried about the cysts because my mother told me that she too was diagnosed with many ovarian cysts at the age of 16. At the time the doctors told her it was a miracle she got pregnant and they needed to operate but they did not as she felt she had no symptoms and they were poor. My mother had 10 children and was very fertile and she is now 70 years old and she is doing great, other than rheumatoid arthritis. I do no know what to make of this but simply having ovarian cysts is not a cause for infertility, their must be multiple factors at play here. The thing about my mother is that she is a very happy, loving individual and always looks at the positive things in life, maybe that plays here. I on the other hand struggle with sadness over my weight issues and acne. Good luck everyone.

***this post is edited by moderator *** *** inappropriate posting*** Please read our Terms of Use there are women in SERIOUS pain, with actual problems that don't necessarily need or WANT your religions shoved down their throats when they're sick. I have nothing against religion- I'm Catholic (before anyone goes on a rant against me) but this is a MEDICAL issue, not a religious one.

I have NO children, am 40 and trying to conceive (did 'everything' right- got an education, career, only for it all to fall apart and now can't find a decent man- still can't; using a 'donor' friend)...I have had ovarian cysts on both ovaries since onset of menses (age 12)- but none big enough to remove. Had endometriosis surgery, but they didn't find any, just cysts- small ones....never big enough for them to care about- though *I* care-- as I'M the one in agonizing pain. My cycles are all over the place- 28 days, 55 days, 38 days, and 2 months in 2010 I did not bleed at all (no man around).

So, I am *HOPING* what the girl above said, that when the cysts are there, you're ovulating....I've only got one shot at this before my friend has to leave town; ordered ovulation predictor strips in bulk (knowing my history) but it'll be too late- he'll likely b gone before they arrive. And I started hurting left ovary side last night and this am- gonna try with fingers crossed....but to the"Guest" before me that posted- YEARS of suffering and pain have made some of us not too receptive to that kind of approach- I for one, do NOT appreciate it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it'd be more helpful for ME to find medical information on a medical site, and for you to pray silently for women at home.

I am alone in the world; no family, friends scattered around the globe...no one to support me- even my gyno left town. I'm am throwing all my chips on the table today- ovary pain be damned- I'll suffer through the sex if it gives me a beautiful red-haired baby (100% chance of redhead w/2 redheaded parents)...but please- DON'T 'pray for me'....just hope that Fate decides to give me a break- haven't had many in life.

It is well known that radiation will greatly demenish your ability to have children and doctors usually discuss this with the patien and they usually opt to store semen and they farm womens eggs just in case. I really think he should make an apt with his doctor to check his sperm count

To all you ladies that r going through this with ovarian cysts. I cant say that I know what your going through because Ive never experienced it before, but my 15 year old was just diagnosed with this prob an my advice to her as for you all is to have faith in JESUS we r a saved christian family and we know that he is the answer to all problems. No matter what things look like an no matter what the doctors say have faith in CHRIST! He is the answer and he will give you what you need. I know its hard for some but begin to pray for others that are going through the same situ and watch what GOD does for you and by faith begin to thank GOD for your healing and your new little precious bundle of joy So GOD bless all of you and your all in my prayers with love. :-)
