HI ladies, I'm a physician myself and have been dealing with the same as you all on and off for 2 years.
Most recently it has come back for the past 6 weeks after I stupidly took a bath every day for a week, then developed what felt like a UTI so I stupidly prescribed myself 2 different antibiotics which only made it worse.

SO: at this point in time, I think it could be a yeast infection that is resistant to the first-line azole antifungal meds.
My obgyn doc thinks it might be shingles.

For the next 2 weeks, I will be shoving boric acid suppositories (to treat any yeast or bugs) up my cooch twice a day, plus taking Zovirax pills 3 times a day (treat shingles).

I will keep you all updated.

I will keep

Firstly, i’m gonna post this online as I feel as I owe at least someone some sort of relief as I’ve had off and on “burning sensations” for about 6 months. Basically, I had very similar symptoms ever since I started dating my current boyfriend. Seeing as it was my first time, I always assumed that he triggered something which cause the pain. After many tests for UTI’s I ALWAYS came back clear, very frustrating! My symptoms were quite horrific as I always had to drink water, even slight dehydration cause horrific burning - sometimes lasting hours. The symptoms always varied, as some days I wouldn’t even go to the toilet and the burning sensation would progress. Anyway to cut a long period of pain and misery. This past week... for the first time in 6 months... i’ve been pain free??!

This came to a major shock / confusion towards what actually caused my pain. I tried thinking of anything I did different, and it came to me. IT WAS MY UNDERWEAR. ever since I started dating my boyfriend, I always wore nylon underwear (big mistake). I honestly NEVER thought nylon would cause as much pain as it did. So far i’ve not had any burning what so ever! so i urge anyone who has similar symptoms, buy new underwear! (preferably cotton) and see if it helps. don’t be doubtful - it’s worth a shot.

Hi,
So I thought I had a UTI because of the symptoms ; urge to pee but only a little comes out, after I pee there is some kind of discomfort. I went to get it tested not from culture, and they said it was a UTI, but once they sent it to culture it came back as a negative. I had pills and took them before I knew that it came back as a negative. I only take the pill to stop the pain but I still feel discomfort, and after I pee once I stand up it feels like a burning feeling. I’m looking for any tips or anything

When I first became active, this would happen to me. Take golden seal with echencia and your symptoms should subside and you should not get any more uti's.

I suffered for years with this problem in my twenties and early thirties until I found the right urologist. Because the urine cultures were negative I was usually not taken seriously when I tried to explain how excruciating my problem was. It ruined my sex life and subsequently my marriage. The new urologist I found was amazing. He did a full work up to rule out obvious problems. My symptoms were treated as chronic, was given prophylactic treatment and we tried various medications until we found a winning recipe. Thereafter I would self diagnose and only have to see him every six months to renew my script. He literally saved my life as he was the first doctor to believe me and to take enough interest to continue to help me after determining I had no obvious physical symptoms. Don't give up and keep looking for the right doctor. It is so worth it and will save you years of misery. I had no idea there were so many women suffering from this until I stumbled onto this site. I hope this helps some of you. Don't let them send you away ever again just because you have a clear urine test. Your pain is real and it is you who has to insist on being heard.

I have this problem too! First morning pee my urethra feels sore and throbbing. After an hour or so it goes away. Also, if I don’t drink enough water I feel like I’m burning it hurts to move. After going to the bathroom I feel like I have to pee again. This has been going on for almost a year now. What was the out come with your results?

I have this exact problem. I’m 22 years old and female. I’ve had it for over a year now and it’s after I was treated with strong antibiotics for a UTI. If I don’t constantly drink water, the pain comes on instantly! I was wondering if you found treatment that worked for you?

Hi there, I have the exact same problem! Right down to the waking up and not being in pain! I’ve never heard anyone have the same thing. I’m still suffering a lot. I take amitriptyline and that helps but still not cured. As this post was made over a year ago I’m praying you have found something that works? Please share this with me if you have x

I have the same thing, going to dr now.
In the past I have read that the uti antibiotics kill off oxalobacter making us unable to digest oxalates as well. So they burn when they come out like mini fiber glass pieces. I just wanted to add to try a non oxakate diet. Not even just a low oxakate diet, try to eliminate them almost completely for a few days to see if it helps. It has helped me before twice with this exact problem. But this time my urethra is so irritated even just touching water I think there is damage/scar tissue and inflammation.

No idea if you're still out there, as your post was over a year ago. Still, may I add something? Recurring bouts of shingles is huge, huge, sign that your immune system is out of whack. Please have your primary care pyhsican order labs to have your immuno-globulins checked. Specifically, IGg, IGa,IGm. Your body may not make antibodies to fight infections.

Also, chdck to see if you may have interstitial cystitis, pelvic inflammatory disease. Visit the American Urological Association to see if any research there could help you.

Hi, have had the same symptoms for over a year. I also had everything negative except small non excruciating kidney stones.

I've found that oxalates make everything worse, that's chocolate, spinach and some nuts for you (I think, I may also be projecting on an attempt to make sense of everything). Every once in a while I get sore on my back and usually around that time my symptoms come back/worsen.

One of my theories is that I also pee strongly sometimes and maybe the kidney stones scratch the urethra- it does feel like a paper cut and like on it. I'm thinking like sand paper it might irritate...

Anyway oxalates help form kidney stones and there's also kidney stone "sand" that can basically sand blast right? Also being constipated makes everything 100x worse.

Maybe this helps maybe it doesn't. For some reason walking every day really helps too.

Good luck, we all need it.

I've been following this thread and thought I'd share something I believe to help. I've been diagnosed with IC and had a series of bad uti's that I believe sent it into a terrible flare. First I got the uti's under control by getting my Dr to give me a prescription of antibiotics to have on hand and I take one every time after sex. Pain was still there though so I tried marshmallow root capsules. I take 2 twice a day and it has worked wonders. They are inexpensive too which is nice. Hope this helps!
