I can't believe other people have this? I am 44 and have been dealing with this since my teenage years. if you get into a fight it's almost disabling as it affects your ability to throw a punch!? Your body gets in your way of defending itself. I get It during arguments, close call accidents, nervous from a police stop, etc. It seems no one has an answer other than speculations?
I have the same symptoms - back pain so bad that I collapse. Normally happens in fight/flight situation, but three nights ago had it as a result of intense pain after knee replacements. Drinking water or passing water seems to immediately relieve the symptoms
After years of dealing with this, one day, a disc in my lower back crushed my syatic nerve. I had emergency surgery. Did several weeks of core rebuilding physical therapy and now the adrenaline pain is hardly noticed in a fight or flight situation. My disc blew getting out of bed, but I had just joined a gym to start work on this issue. I've had several lower back incedents in my life they may have contributed.
I just googled the same set of symptoms not expecting a match but here it is . Jay, your description perfectly describes what I have been experiencing for close to a year now I guess. And this is not the only weird back experience I've had. I have just in the last two months began walking in an almost normal manner, in an effect position I had breast survey in Feb of 2014 and not long after that began walking in a bent forward posture. I literally had to force myself to stand up straight. I had horrible back pain and assumed it was related though thought it could be a manifestation of a paraneoplastic syndrome. I mean it had three doctors and myself perplexed. My neurologist suggested a bad spasm could be the cause after an NOT revealed only a mild narrowing g at one point and hardly worth mentioning. Of course I realize an MRI can not diagnose neccessararlyv the cause of pain. But back to this current abnormality please anyone post if you have found any answers. Thank you.
I know the feeling but I'm 59 y/o female and hopefully won't have to throw a punch anything time soon. I just replied the long comment to Jay' s post not seeing this til after. Mine has only been going on about a year but it is strange and painful and happened tonight at the end of an argument with my male companion (for lack of a nicer term at this time lol ) And it lasted probably no more than 45 seconds a minute tops. Ugghh what is it tatty???
Lower back pain affects millions of people across the country. As a matter of fact, it has found that the number of patients suffering from this disease are increasing each passing day. Degenerative disc disease is a condition which affects young as well as middle-aged people on a daily basis. It might wax and wane before it decides to make things difficult and bothering for you. Lumbar and Cervical Herniated Disc are two most common conditions which make even accomplishing daily activities a challenge.
I think I first read this thread a year ago looking for answers. I'm so disappointed to find no one has found a diagnosis. Here are the themes I am recognizing from reading each post that I think might also apply to me. I noticed several people mentioning they had spinal taps, spinal blocks or epidurals. I had a failed epidural that had to be repeated with my first pregnancy and two spinal blocks after that with two subsequent cesarean sections. I never had these adrenaline rush pains until after my third pregnancy. I also remember having an excruciating headache after my third delivery. I am now wondering if I suffered a cerebrospinal hemorrhage from the needle during the last spinal block. It seems to me several people have mentioned disc issues as well. I'm wondering if this is all a result of inflammation in the lower back. Adrenal fatigue sounds like another good theory that could certainly apply to me. I'd love some answers.
I am 24 and this has happening to me since I remember. During a fight or a tensed situation, i stand still and can not do nothing because of the pain in lower back. I find it really disturbing. Imagine if someone needs your help and you can not move or give a hand. I would like to find a cure for it. Please help.
I am 24 years old. I have had this problem since I was a child. Severe pain in lower back in fight situations, or when im about to face a crucial moment(which is not happy) in my life. I find it really hard to cope with. Maybe someday cure will be found. I feel like i'm gonna fail others or myself when i will be needed in a tensed situation.
Yes! a sudden surge of andrenaline will spike you even if you think you are super fit, do check your blood , maybe it is due to high lead content?
I have the same symptom too , i'm 41 years old , it happens to me while i drive my motorcycle .With stupid drivers makr me anger . my native language is spanish , but if someone knows how to control this tell me
I was starting to think that it had gone away for me. It doesn't only happen at times of rage, as I thought it was. I hadn't felt it in quite a while. But just the other day, I was driving. Another driver began to challenge me on the road. I accepted the challenge and we ended up driving very fast on an open country road. There was no rage, only excitement. And my car was faster than his. But a few seconds after it was all over, I felt the pain. It felt like something was surfing through my lower back. It practically left me unable to do anything but control my car. It lasted about 5 agonizing minutes. Then it slowly went away. I knew it was coming even before the pain started, and I started to brace for it. It was as though I could feel the adrenaline and I knew it was going to hurt.
So I guess it has not gone away... Hopefully we can find out what causes this and how to cure it. Or maybe there is no cure.
I've noticed that for me, it only happens when I'm driving. So only when I'm sitting. And maybe that's the problem. Maybe I need to get up so that the adrenaline can be distributed more easily. I've never had the opportunity to pull my car over and get out. But I don't think it's ever happened to me while I've been standing.
I've noticed that this is the same for many people here. It happens when they're driving... Could this be the issue?

I am a 34 year old male, until recently I was a prison officer daily dealing with things that caused adrenalin response i never had any issues others then hand tremors after the incident. One day about 2 years ago I was in a situation when I was about to be assaulted (happened many times before so not out the ordinary) I got a crippling pain around my kidneys I was hardly able to stand or speak, as soon as the confrontation had passed the pain went, since then ever time something happened that would produce the fight or flight Hormone I would get this pain, always when stood up. I even started happening if I was about to have difficult conversation with someone so even a slight adrenalin response would cause it. Partly due to this I changed jobs a year ago and had not suffered since. Until today I had cause to challenge a stranger about something very inappropriate they did, I'm otherwise fit and healthy and this person was no threat to me whatsoever but as soon is I confronted them I got the awful kidney lower back pain that lasted for a couple of minuets. I saw someone mentioned something about antidepressants causing this, I had a 6 month course of citalapram that finished around a year before my first episode of this.
It a worry as when it happens I can hardly stay standing let alone defend myself

I have this problem too. I have had it since I was a child. Worse now though. I notice it happens when I get unexpectedly super angey. Not to get off point but I'm just going to throw this out there. Were you tall as a young child?? If so I believe I'm heading in the right direction in finding an answer to your question.
I was and still am of average height.
