I have a 2 and a 3 year old. I have had a total of 4 epidurals, the last one 2 years ago. The Dr had a hard time getting the needle in the last time, and let me tell you that was absolute torture! I thought for sure I would be paralyzed! But I made it through!! I have pain in the injection site often. My movement is restricted, and bending forward and backwarkd puts a lot of strain on that area of my back. I recently started doing yoga again and it's only been 2 weeks and I notice a big difference in the way my back feels. I am definitely noticing some improvement!! It's the only thing that has helped me. I'm even sleeping better!!!

I had my daughter 8 months ago. I am experiencing what i would call twinges of pain exactly where the needle was inserted. It is transient, but very evident as if it were a bruise of sorts. My first epidural was 4 years ago with my son, no problems there, but this one, I just feel like my back is not "right". Should have guessed , my anesthesiologist went to UGA! lol. If it persists, will go get checked, as this is not a normal response to an epidural.

Well looks like I better get use to it! My sister and I both had babies 6 mos ago and have the same pain at the injection sight :-( It's Weird that Doctors say you shouldn't have pain, they stuck a huge needle in our back! Why wouldn't it have some repercussion!? I have other scars that still hurt years later.

Our daughter is 8 1/2 months old now. My wife just brought to my attention tonight that she is having a "bruise-like" pain in what she believes to be her epidural injection site. Me being the paranoid husband that I am.. I put google to work. I found it very interesting that these stories are exactly as she describes. My wife deals with pain rather well, and is not one to complain or even mention an ailment, so I would venture to say there is something up the with this side effect that is not mentioned anywhere but on this forum. I sincerely pray for the pain to subside for all you ladies

I have a 14 month old and still have that site pain. My sister's friend is an anesthesiologist and he said that it was probably just a bruise to the bone when they administered the needle. He said they many have hit the bone when they were inserting. He did say however that it shouldn't still hurt, and that was a few months back. Interestingly, the site on my back as gotten acutely worse in the last week. I used to describe it as a sensation of a bruise, now I describe it more like a knife in my back.

It has been 21 years (yes 21 years) ago since my son was born.  I also have a 28 year old.  I have a blue spot at the exact same spot of the epidural that has been there for 21 years.  If my husband runs his finger down my spine I know when he hits the spot because it is still very tender.  No one can tell me otherwise, I know it is a result of the epidural.

Wow, I thought I was going crazy because it has been over 5 years since I had my daughter and son and I have always had a bit of pain on the injection site, but nothing like what I've had lately. Every time I have it I ask my husband to check for a bruise, but no he says there is nothing there! I had been taking advil or tylenol and using my very trusty heating pad. It helps but at night...crazy pain, throbbing and just over all discomfort. I wish everyone luck with their pain and hope that we get an answer for it soon.

I just started getting pain at the site today, just over 8 months since I delivered via c section. It's strange that so many ppl notice pain right around 8 months after...

Same symptoms here. Had to have an epidural as I am too high risk for regular anesthesia (malignant hyperthermia in the past) in the spring for a surgery. Several months ago I noticed the pain and upon investigation it was clearly some sort of inflammation in the exact spot where the epidural was. 20+ yrs ago I had a kidney stone attack and the injection site where the Demerol was given still bothers me to this day. It often felt so bad that I thought perhaps the needle had broken off in there! I ultimately decided it had to be some sort of scar tissue and/or permanent nerve damage. Would love to hear from anyone who has any more info about this.

I had a scheduled c-section 3 years ago. During the surgery, I felt a lot of pain, the medicine didn't take affect correctly. About a year after the surgery I started having pain in my back while sleeping, it shot around to my ribs. I have numbness in my left calf & foot. Now the pain is way worse the numbness is worse & I wake up from it all the time. I am in the process of MRI scan & then appt with neurosurgeon to possibly fix it or talk about my options. It will be 3 years next month, in Washington state, I have 3 years to start the process of medical malpractice on the anesthesiologist. Not sure if I should let it go or go through the lengthy process. I'm 25, 2 kids & am in college. I do not have medical coverage & that's the main upsetting part, I would be fine without it if this never happened. The dr bills are INSANE!!

I had my third child 2 years ago and have the worst pain at the epidural and spinal site. Its been unbearable the past week, and nothing I do helps. I wonder if it's a build up of scar tissue that is causing this problem? What does everyone do to help with the pain? I read that someone said yoga helps.

My child is now 10 yrs old. I had complications with vaginal birth and was givin an epadural and enduced then rushed to surgery for C-section.

I now toss and turn all night and when i get up the same exact spot where i got my shot feels hollow and stiff. When I get out of bed I can stand up, but to bend over hurts really bad until I move around for awhile.
