I've had terrible lower back pain since my epidural seven months ago. It feels as though I have been clubbed on the lower back and am severely bruised although there is no physical evidence of anything. Sitting either on the floor or on a chair is excruciatingly painful, so I have to constantly lean to one side to avoid the pressure. Sitting the car is particularly painful and I doubt I will ever be able to horse ride again. I've tried osteopathy and pilates. My doctor simply sent me to physio, which was pointless. I was in labour for 48 hours and was utterly desperate with the pain, but I do wish I hadn't had the epidural now as it feels like a life sentence.
Is there any hope? Has anyone found some relief for this pain?
i think it is th epidural becuase i had 2 c sections one in '10 and one this year the pain just started a couple weeks ago it hurts to get out of bed it hurts to do anything it so painful
Thanks blaufeuer. It gives me a little hope to know yours resolved itself. I'm still in as much pain as the day after giving birth, but I have slightly better days (mostly when I don't try to sit down at all), so there's always hope.
I recently suffered from a pheumothorax which is a collapsing of the lung without a fluid build up but an air build up. I am male and have just started having these pains myself after surgery which required an epidural for post op pain managemnt. feels like someone is pressing a hot penny on my spine with alot of force.
I had my son 12 years ago, the pain started at the injection site. A year later it started to travel down my right arm, and up the back of my neck, with a burning feeling to the right side of my head. I've had tests done over the years, but nothing. The doctors always ask me if I had a epidural, and then say OH and start writing. When I ask if they think it was from the epidural they all say no. Still living in pain, but do notice light yoga, and heat helps a little. I do believe Doctor's cover for each other for sure.
I never ever had back problems till i had an epidural 8 months ago having my daughter via c-section, from day one i have been searching online about it and as there are so many in the same boat and nothing seems to be getting done about it i never mentioned it to my doctor as i feel what will i have to gain. i have red everyones replies on here and the only way i can describe it which is a tad different from everyone, but im sure alot can relate in that for me it feels like someone holding i lighter up against the exact spot that needle was put in particularly when im feeding or changing baby and my back is slightly bent over in doing this, i have to stop immediately and get my back straight up again. i had the pain from day one of having her everyday till now 8 months on and i have no doubt it is here to stay.
My son is 2 and I still have the pain - often. They attempted a spinal and it did not take effect, so they put me to sleep for my c-section. I have had pain ever since. At the moment it's excruciating - which is why i'm even on this site. I was trying to get more information. In the evenings I lay on a heating pad - and Aleve seems to help better than anything.
Good Luck - I hope it doesn't last long for you.
I had my daughter 4 months ago and just last week started having pain at the injection site of my epidural. Really wishing I had looked more into the side effects before taking it. They should have to warn people that although you may not experiance the pain of childbirth you will possibly experiance spinal pain everyday after. Had I only known before taking it.. :-/
