Omg...I am in tears reading this... I too have exact symptoms and have had every expensive test you can have..and the doctors are making me think I'm just a baby about pain, saying it arthritis and degeneration along with diabetic nerve pain, but it hurts worse after working 7 12 hour shift and is eased up some on my 7 off, .. I hurt so bad sometimes I can't get into bed or yell out when getting up out of a chair for a split second from the sharp quick pain.. I'm so relieved to read this...thought I was just being a baby cause they can't find anything... I found a condition called " back mice" but the doc said , no I don't think it's that... I also have big lumps along base of back but they don't seem to bother me as much as the little moveable ones..has anyone found any help?

Do not know if you have tried this but it will not hurt to see holistic doctor for acupuncture.

I have the same issue with the lower back pain, lumps below the skin that were painful, and moves a little when massaged. My doctor did an ultrasound and diagnosed it as lipoma. They're benign tumors and mess don't help. Normally they don't bother you and don't require treatment, but mine are causing me pain, so my only solution is surgery to have them removed.

Can you also post what the diagnosis was and treatment that was given. I have the same issue on my right.

My left hip is worse the pain you are feeling has something to do with the syatic nerve. For me the pain feels like a knuckle that needs to crack as far as what the actual lumps are tho not a single doctor has been able to tell me or been able to tell me how to fix it other than monthly shots into my hip joint which I really don't want to do but lately the pain is making it impossible for me to move my hip but I do have the same lump on my right side just much small and hardly ever painful.

I agree. This is infuriating. The first doctor I told about it told me he has back pain too, and he just toughs it out. But when I insisted he sent me to a spine doc. When I told the spine doc I didn't think my GP took me seriously, she said, "yes, I can see that by the notes he included". I've had two MRIs - the first one they decided not to use contrast because the quack GP probably told them it was nothing. The radiologist said nothing showed up. Back to the spine doc, she pulled up the images and said, "you can see right there something is pressing against your spinal cord."
She sent me for a pain injection - which did nothing. Then PT. They said I need to strengthen my core, and that the lumps in my back were lipomas, and couldn't be causing any pain. I have been told the same thing by 4-5 doctors. NONE OF THEM EVEN TRIED TO FEEL THE LUMPS! So for 4 years, it's been progressively worse. I went back to the spine doctor. The one I saw before had retired, so they placed me with one fresh out of school. I had another MRI - this time with dye. I told everyone (doctor, techs, radiologists) that the only reason for the MRI was to identify the lumps. Radiology report did not mention lumps at all. Young spine doc said that meant they were "just lipomas." She sent me back to physical therapy. No relief. I brought in an article about back mice - from a medical journal, not a chiropractor. Still not even feeling for the lumps, not acknowledging them, she told me that she "could try the injection therapy outlined in the article". I asked for her to consult with the other 10 doctors in her practice, to see if there was someone with experience. She REFUSED.
Back to my GP (new one, not the quack), I TOLD her, "I want a referral to a surgeon. I don't care if they are lipomas, I want them out." She was happy to provide. She also felt the lumps. "Oh wow. These don't feel like lipomas." I have an appointment with a surgeon next week.
I will try to log back in and update on progress. Like a lot of other people here, I want to know what helps, not just know I'm in good company. (Although if I doubted my own experience the way the doctors seem to, it would definitely be encouraging.)
