I have been suffering pain in my lower left back. There is also a mass the shape of an egg and half the size of an egg. This pain has been going on for almost three years since I was in a car accident. I went to therapy for it and it made it worse. There are time when I do things and then I'm dieing with pain. It's a strange pain. I was treated one time in the hospital and give an injection of muscle relaxer. I recieved toridol and flexoral and MRI scan was done,EMG also with no issue found. This was two years ago. Today I still suffer from this pain. I read up on some thing call Lipoma and thought that was what it was. I went to a surgeon and he said it was not a Lipoma because Lipomas are soft tissue. What I have is a hard mass that moves in one spot. He is now sending me to have an ultrasound done to determine what if may be. He is thinking it could be a ball of nerves.

Hi I have a lump in my lower back right side about 6 - 8 inches from my spine. I had a weightlifting injury between my shoulder blades for 3 weeks tingling/burning, that is slowly subsiding, Placed my hands on my hips & felt the lump today under my thumb for the first time. Doesn't hurt unless I push on it. When I lean my upper body towards my feet, it is more pronounced. Hot shower makes it worse, cold makes it feel better.
Sometimes it has a stinging feeling, I have a history of inguinal hernia which I have one now, right side. This pain is coming from just under the skin. Not sure if it is a cyst, tumor, or deep pinched nerve from weightligting. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Out of concern, I went to the doc today. Diagnosed with benign lipoma.
If it gets larger & the pain increases, I will schedule surgery to remove it.

I had a small lump on my back and it turned out to be a cyst which was near a sack of nerves. The surgeon removed it easily. He told me that overtime I sat, the cyst would push on my nerve sack, which was causing me pains like you are describing.

As with everyone else in this forum I have the same issue, on both sides. I've had this for probably close to 15 yrs and of course the Dr's say it's nothing. But what's interesting that I haven't heard anyone else mention is that I've been to the chiro and he twists my lower back and it pops right where those spots are and that does seem to give immediate relief but it seems to only last a couple days. Also what I find interesting is the very first time i had that type of adjustment I had huge bruises on both sides, kind of oval shape, about 3"long and 2" tall. But only the first adjustment caused that. Never had bruising with the other hundred or so adjustments I've had. But anyway, I'd love to hear from someone who has had these knots removed and the results afterwards.
