Wow!  I'm really glad to have found this thread.  I was beginning to think what I was feeling was all in my head.

For over a year I've been feeling what I can only describe as a fullness sensation in my right side (anywhere from my ribs to my hip).  It mostly stays in the side.  It may travel round to the front, but more often will travel round to the back.

I can replicate most of what I feel if I flex that side muscle on the right.  It's very sore when I flex it (compared to flexing the left).  If I hold the flex too long, I start to feel it "catch" (that feeling you get in a muscle before it cramps).  So I stop flexing.

Recently the fullness has progressed to pain.  Lower back on right and on the side.  Some front pain, sometimes right under ribs.  It's not ridiculously painful, but it's constant enough that's it annoying.  Went to the docs last week.  Had been having urinary frequency and had a low grade fever.  He tapped on my back on the right side below my ribs and I told him it felt bruised.  He put me on a two week course of Cipro (I'm midway thru first week with really no difference) cause he though I had a kidney infection.

If Cipro doesn't help, he said he'd get a CT scan to rule out stones.

I can't help but think its my back, but I'll go thru with the CT scan just to rule out other things.  I'll come back and post updates as I get them.  More than anything this issue has just been highly annoying cause it doesn't seem to want to go away.

get a Hidascan and see if your gall bladder is overactive. normal is 35% ine is 80% which most doctors say is fine but now they believe that anything over 80% is actually as bad as having stones. removal is recommended. I may be doing that soon. I have many gall bladder attacks that are similar to GERD symptoms. but with back pain extreme nausea and lower rib cage pains.

I have had the same stuff. thought it was sciatic nerve too. constantly having right hip area pain and sometimes near belly button. has pressure. noisy lower GI. now its mostly upper gi and gall bladder attack symptoms they did a hidascan and I am at 80% thats pretty high (35 is normal). I think removal will help me. I have so many gall bladder attacsk that I never know when I'm going to have a full day without pain or without severly manging my diet for these awful symptoms.

I posted on February 9th and wanted to give an update. I did have a HIDA scan which said my gallbladder is 44% of normal, however, since I had a really bad reaction to the CCK injection, my new G.I. doctor said that my gallbladder is hurting me while it works. I have an endoscopy scheduled for today to rule out everything else, but I am looking to get my gallbladder removed soon.

I've been dealing with a similar issue a little dif but you need to have them check you for nephroptosis also known as a floating kidney. Its where the normal support tissue holding the kidney in place weakens and the kidney can drop all the way into the pelvis even causing all sorts of issues. Its not seen on normal imaging as most all are done in a laying position so when u lay down it goes back into the original location. So tg ey need to do either xray or ultrasound doing a laying and also a standing image. You would see a urologist for this...in fact most everyone in this blog should have this ruled out ss its not well known and easily missed if ur doctor is not aware or suspecting it. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Posted February 9.I had my gallbladder taken out June 5 and I was told it was chronically inflamed. While my pain has resided for the most part, the worst part is not being able to hardly eat anything with fat in it.

Thank you so much for this. Right now I ate some vitamins and my flank pain came rushing back. I am almost in tears from trying to figure this out. I saw this and you gave me hope. Vitamins must have gluten secretly in them or the coatings...not sure how to replace minerals/vitamins in this diet without hurting either :-( well as long as im not dead ha right?

I too have been having abdominal pain for the past few months.  I have a history of some IBS issues but this has been different.  A month ago I had pain that felt like I had a baby kicking inside is the best I can describe it. The pain started on my left side and slowly moved to my very lower right abdominal area. It was like spasams but it only lasted for 2 days on and off.  I went to my family doctor afraid my appendix was rupturing and he said everything felt ok and referred me to a Gastro doctor.  In the mean time I had a pap that showed a complex cyst on my left ovary.  She said the pain/spasms I felt could have been it rupturing.  I went back weeks later to have another ultra sound to see if it was still there.  I figured it was as I am still having pain, mainly low right abdominal region close to my bladder.  I also have pain on my left hip sometimes and under both lower ribs.  To my surprise the cyst is gone!  I have a colonoscopy scheduled this point to see if something is wrong gastro wise.  My GYN said if that comes back clear to make an appt with her to talk about adhesions from my C-section 2 1/2 years ago.  I guess scar tissue from the healing incision can adhere to your organs and cause pain and pulling.  Im just scared something is seriously wrong and I will never get the correct diagnosis.  My bloodwork and stool tests at the Gastro doc came back ok.  Im 37 with one child.

Hello I am a 36 yr old female, and I am going through some of the same issue's listed. I also have had trouble with kidney stones, I was hospitalized for about a week a couple yrs ago and had a cat scan done which confirmed my right kidney was basically dead. I signed out ama (against medical advice) and have not been back due to no insurance, but recently the pain is not going away and it is like enlarged in the area so much you can feel and see it. I know I need to go to the doctor but having difficulties working it out, I have my father here whom just completed radiation for cancer of the throat and I am trying to keep him well. Has anyone found out any new answers?
