I'm also 16. About 12 months ago I felt a small lump just above my belly-button, it didn't hurt me or cause any discomfort unless I pushed it in. I ignored it until I felt it get slightly bigger. I went to the doctor for a throat infection and while I was there I asked him to see it. He wasn't sure what it was, he figured umbilical a hernia and sent me for an ultrasound. I saw the screen myself and there was just a small lump in my tummy. It didn't look connected to anything and the nurse said that it was a "superficial lump". I've ignored it though it is still with me and has definitely changed shape. I don't think there is any treatment to get rid of it other than surgery. Hope this helps!
I have the same exact problem and i had it checked by a doctor. He said it is a small cyst due to a small muscle tear caused by lifting weight and/or ab workouts. He said it is not something to worry about at all. He also told me it might go away on its own and if it doesn't i shouldn't mind it unless it gets bigger which he said it probably won't. If it does seem to get bigger he said I would have to get it surgically removed but i have had this for about 2 months now and it has remained the same exact size. A week ago i totally forgot about it and never even felt it anymore until yesterday I lifted wieghts and did an ab workout and it appeared again. My opinion on this is that it is caused by lifting weights and doing ab exercises. I will just not do as much heavy weights and cut down on the ab workouts.

Had same thing went to er and I had 2 hernias with the bowel cord pushing through they did a emergency surgery and that's where I'm at now

I know exactly what your going through!! I have bump right above my belly button and it's about the size of a stress ball and it has been like that for close to 4 years!! The Dr. said it was a hiadeous hernia, which is, when your stomache starts to go inside of your intestine and it swells up! I had to have a small camera put into my stomache just so that I can hear that! So I have been taking this mediaction called Nexium and it has helped ALOT! the bump is still there but you can't really see it anymore. But the Dr. says that if it doesn't take the bump away completely that I will have to go in for surgery to get it completely fixed.
So just check with a Dr. to see if that's and try Nexium. Hope this helps!

doing several hundred situps a day is not good for you
just the other day i noticed what i thought was a pimple and above my belly button about 1/4 of a inch. now i have a scab that seems to be infected under (about half the size of a dime) however it is inflamed about 2 inch all the way around. this is day 3 im using heat to bring the puss up and hoping it will drain on its own. ??? if anyone knows what it is please help!
Use tea tree oil is good for tht i use to have the same problem

I have had an umbilical hernia 4 times noe this hernia right not will be my 4th henia in the last 4 yrs, also this yr would be my 2nd hernia,the surgeon told me it is unlikely to come back, normally he does it one time and never comes back,and it is really rare the same hernia comes back, well im i guess im a rare one bc mine came back severl time so just be careful, and yes it can be outpatient surgery, also depends on how big it is. to all the people who get hernias be careful how u do everything bc it can come back.
I too discovered a hardish lump on top ring of belly button not really sore just feels wierd and had sharp pains and not having an easy time with bowel movements.. Any1 can help greatly appreciate it
Hi Sara i have a tumor on my belly button i just found out today but it is not cancer so i am so happy that i don't have that but i am going to have it cut out before it gets bigger!! I though it was a heria because my mom has a spot it her belly button to but my doctor told me if i don't have it done soon it will just get bigger so please go check it out!!!
i have the same thing. i play football and 17 and had this lump for awhile. and have no clue what it is. i hurts when i bend my back backwards. and hurts a little bit when i touch it.
It happened to me I'm 13 doing abs in dance class but I have been diagnosed with an umbilical hernia in which case I have been told to leave it but if I am ever in intense pain to immediately go to the ER but the surgery isn't manditory unless it is bothering you
