My daughter is 4 and broke out with all the exact same symptoms. We tried zinc & boudreaux's butt paste which worked really well. She went back to her day care & then these things came back with a vengence.

I got a call from her special school district nurse who thinks it is a yeast infection? Dr. gave us nystatin creme. It helped but didn't get rid of it like it usually would. After reading this board I am puzzled since I've had her using pull ups too. She uses parents choice diapers & I thought maybe her skin was irritated at the area where the waist band touches but now I think she needs to see a dermatologist.

If anyone finds out for sure please share.

My son has had the same problem pretty much since birth. He got his first one on his nipple when he was about 3 months old and have continued since ranging from his legs thighs to his butt. Every time i took him to the doctor he told me it was a boil (staph infection) and popped it drained it and put him on antibiotics. when he was about 18 months he got one on his leg close to his knee and refused to walk I took him to the ER and they kept him and he had to have a minor surgery on his leg because they said they were afraid the staph went into his joints (thank god it wasn't the case) They kept him in the hospital for about 5 days on IV antibiotics it was the same diagnosis Staph infection. The surgeon told me to use hebicleanse and he would never have one again which has not been the case he is now 4 and still gets them he is fully potty trained now and hoped it would stop but hasn't. I have since switch doctors and she has always gave me the same diagnosis every time he gets one or some. No one can help me on how to make these things stop all they say is bath him daily which i do make sure he washes his hand which i do. They also told me if he gets a scratch or mosquito bite to put anti biotic cream on it and cover it which i do and to give him benedryl so he wont itch it which i do and yet he still continues to get them. They are very painful to him he will hardly let me touch them when he gets them. So if your child has a sore and its bright red and painful they usually have a little dot in the middle and most of the time are hard at the touch most likely it is a staph infection and i recommend taking them to the doctor. If anyone has any advise on what more i can do for my son and stopping these things im open to hear it, I asked his doctor what i can do to prevent them more and she said besides what im doing there is really nothing else. Anyway hope i helped someone.

Hi! My 2 year old son has had this same thing since he was an infant. Ive been thru the same routines you have and still Nothing! I feel your pain!!!!! I have been to numerous docotrs, dermitologist and specialist and no change. Some say its staph others say its a bacteria but not staph. My next step is to go to an infectious desease control specialist. I have tried everything!!!!!!! you might wont to check your water or washing machine. Thats also my next step. If your washing machine has mold or mildew on it that could be the cause too. ??????if you have any answers or solution for me that would be great too!

I skipped the pullups and went straight to big girl underwear from diapers.... my 2 1/2 year old has these weird red pimply bumps on her bottom too, even a couple on the back of her leg. I had thought maybe it was due to her sitting on a yucky germy potty ? or was afraid I wasn't wiping her well enough after going on the potty, but couldn't understand why, because I am very thorough when wiping her bum. Or, I thought maybe she was allergic to big girl underwear ! I'm stumped as to what the heck is causing these nasty red bumps on her bottom area. I was going to take her to the doctors on Monday and see what he has to say. Your postings have made me feel a lot better though !!!! Glad to know I am not the only one who's child this is happening to.

My daughter has these same bumps and i took her to the infectious diseases department at wolfsons hospital and the doctor gave me this idea to put a cap full of regular bleach(the one we use for washing clothes) in her bath water to kill the bacteria that causes these bumps. I was a little worried but the doctor assured me that it would be safe, it would be like taking my toddler to the pool everyday. I can say that the bumps have disappeared. They return everyonce in a while but they are FAR LESS than before. I also started using Cetaphil antibacterial soap just for precaution. Its safe for use on all ages even newborns it is sold in walgreens and walmart (walmart is cheaper!) its pricey but nothing is ever pricey for the health of our kids. If you have any questions you can contact me at _[removed]_ We are here to help each other get our kids feeling better! :-)

My 2 1/2 year old..who uses pull ups also got these bumps on her bum which have now spread down her leg and on the front of her thigh. I treated it like a diaper rash first. It only seemed to get worse. then used antifungal cream and that did not nothing. I tried cortizone which seemed to help make the bums less red and itchy..but they never went away. only more came. We went to the pediatrician a week ago and he took a culture of it. It is a staph infection. He explained a few things. First, they are very hard to get rid of. Second..not all antibiotics can work on it. Staphs are reistent to alot of the anitbiotics. So when he did the culture they dropped little bits of paper that had antiobiotics on them onto the peatree dish to see what is was resitant to. Now..he had precribed amoxicillan for her..so by the time the results came back..it showed that her particular staph was resistant to penicillian and amoxicillan. So that is why it was not getting better with the meds. He just switched her to a sulfar..called sulfamethoxazole, which will hopefully work. THe problem is that the stronger anitbiotics that would kill a staph..like tetrocycline (not sure of spelling) will hurt a 2 years old GI tract. It will eat away at it so they cannot prescribe it. So if this sulfar does not work, they will have to administer an antibiotic intraveniously to bypass her GI tract and get rid of this thing. I pray to god they we dont have to go that way. I have to give it 3 days to see if the sulfar works. I will post more as it happens. I hope this helps..I do have to say I am a bit concerned that we all seem to have our kids in pull ups and they mostly seem to be about the same age. Very odd...

This painful bump problem baffled our family doctor for a while. I ended up doing my own research on the internet and MRSA came up. I had the doctor test for the MRSA bacteria and that is what it turned out to be, some sort of contagious staph infection. this must be treated promptly as a person can become quite ill and it is very hard to get rid of. After my 3rd round of antibiotics I decided to also try herbal and other natural remedies and finally got rid of the infection. Tea tree oil and soaps applied topically and the Turmeric capsules taken 3 times a day were life savers for me. there so much information on MRSA just google it and see what comes up

I've noticed the same thing on my 2-yr-old. She wears pampers easy ups. This pimple like rash on her butt, that she cries if I touch. She also has some on the tops of her feet. but no where else. I just started trying cortisone, but I'll try some A + D. The weird thing is, it's not located where diaper rash would be. Hers is on the outsides of her cheeks, and not where it would be wet. I'm confused. Like I said, I'll try the A+D, and if it doesn't work, I'll try the anti-fungal.

Both my sons had it as well and it's a staph infection treated by antibiotics and topical cream.

My daughter is 4 years old and she has those lil pimples on her tush and it bothers me that they don't know or give me so many things that IT can be and try all these meds and they don't work. I hate to see my babies in pain. I would really like to know what this is and DO something about it instead of watching them in discomfort.

my son is two he has small dark red spots on the top of his thigh and one here and one there on his legs , the bumps on his butt look worse but i think that is from being in a pull up. i have tried butt paste it helps but they came right back a couple days later.......this is very frustrating.....they do not bother him they have no head and really dont look like a blister they are just small dark red spots and then ones on his bottom look the same just irritated.

MY daughter is 3 and has many bumps, they are NOT puss filled at all, some are big some are tiny, it's been going on for weeks, she has been getting this off and on since she was a baby, she ALSO has eczema. She's pt'd except at night she's in cheap brands of pull ups and has never had an issue until the colder months when the air is dry, i can say that i put aveeno and corn starch on her an hour ago tonight and the majority of it is completely gone (as well as her dry eczema patches on her back and shoulder), part of her issue is that she does have an intolerance to apple juice, she would get loose bm's as a baby from it (still does), and has been having apple juice at day care for a few months (just a tiny bit, not enough to harm her bm's), her being in pull ups at night and her intolerance to the AJ are irritating her skin even more so causing the bumps (no more AJ for her!) anywho, my mom asked me if i used bleach on her clothes, i was using clorox 2 for stains, mom said no more clorox it irritates sensitive skin...part of the contact dermititis (yes my daughter has a lot of things that irritate her body!!!) so just a thought for everyone who doesnt have staph, try aveeno for babies and corn starch

Puss filled pimples (pustules) could be staph or antibiotic resistant staph infection. Take them to the doctor and have them re-examined with this in mind. I have had this horrible rash as have my kids and it is very very painful. it needs antibiotics immediately. If they don't agree and pimples persist, take them to someone else until it is addressed.
