I have similar problems. I have a red and swollen uvula (looks gross), it hurts to swallow, even just saliva (to the point of crying without Tylenol), and I have noticed that there is a small bubble like thing on my right tonsil. I have tonsil stones according to my uncle who has the same problem and some research I have done. I'm getting checked out by the doctor soon but I'll update when I get the chance. <3
I actually have this right now... it was getting alot better... specially yesterday it felt like it was going to go away... But sadly it was my moms bday... and we had hot dogs , cheese burgers, cake...all kinds of food so i was really hungry and couldn't resist. After that the pain got worse lol i guess it was my fault... but after her bday i got back to my diet.. eat soft foods, u can go on a fruit diet to boost your vitamin C, drink lots of water!!! gargle warm water with salt, use a Q-tips dip it in alcohol or water peroxide and apply to the affected area, or you can gargle scope and mix it with alcohol ... remember its just an infection due to weak immune system so your body needs to fight it off. Can cause pain or a fever, when u feel like a fever is going to happen take a Tylenol and relax or sleep it off. b4 going to bed make sure you brush your teeth really good, wat i do b4 i go to bed is i suck on a halls candy.
My dr said my similar symptoms are from coxsackie viru
Many times swollen back of the throat and soft palate is due to acid reflux. Most doctors, especial ear note and throat will recognize this. You can have it without ANY sour taste in your mouth. Food allergies can do this too. Wheat products, which I love, does this to me and so antihistamine will help if I cheat. I have to take an antacid preventer every morning.
I have all the same problems as everyone else and have had them continually for over a year. The feeling like there is something stuck in the back of your throat and you can't get out is the only thing the doctors ever fixed of my problems. That was acid reflux. As for the rest....I'm waiting to see if I have oral cancer.
Yes you are right my liver is also bad yet the moderator has edited it...Im very unwell and took naproxen and other medication which affected my liver dehydration caused by nasel issues also...
Mine is allergies to dust because twice know this has happened about 4 hours after intense cleaning. Each time I went to the ER they gave me IV steroids, pepcid since it has antihistamine blocker and Valium this time a used a steroid inhaler before I went to the hospital, it all worked today my throat is just sore. Good luck.
my investigation is possible cpac(stopped that ),proair hfa,qvar80 and serevent meds can create .problems with the mouth ,also have serious dry mouth from various meds nd that is a possibility.what bugs me the medical experts at kaiser of calif.are doing nothing.
Im 42 years old. I have had redness and have had a burning sensation in the back of my throat. My tonsil pillars and uvula are red. my tonsils are swollen and I am having them taken out. However, I also have swelling in the pharyngeal wall and its burns when i use something to touch it. Im not sure what I have. antivirals and antibiotics did not help.
im hoping the tonsils have been carrying some type of infection that will go away when removed. good luck to all who have a nasty throat condition.
My viral illness came on very suddenly, and resulted in very localized pain to my soft palate, the border of the soft palate with the base of my nasal airway, and uvula swelling. am a 34 year old female. On day one I felt general malaise, sinus pressure and sore throat and headache. On day 2, the throat pain was worse, very consistent during the day. The pain was very localized (my soft palate ever it joins with the roof of my nose) and became so bad I went to the doctor that day. The doc did a strep test and I was told I had viral laryngitis. I was given a strong pain reliever (NSAID), corticosteriod to relieve swelling, and a Zpac (antibiotic). On day 2 and 3, I only took ibuprofren consistently during the day (thinking "this is just viral, it'll go away on its own") and found no relief. Taking an antihistamine did not help either. Again, I wrongly thought "since this is viral, it would go away without starting all the prescribed meds". I was VERY wrong.
On the end of day 3, things had worsened. It hurt VERY painfully to swallow. Specifically, had a swollen uvula and soft palate. There were signs of abrasion on my soft palate near looking toasts the back of my throat on either side of my uvula. The uvula and soft palate appeared beet red in contrast to the rest of my mouth, and there was eventually signs of pus behind my uvula in my larynx/throat. It hurt SO much to swallow, that I could not sleep, I could barely take sips of water (is visibly since every swallow) or even sick on a lozenge, the pain was so bad. In addition, over the course of three days, I had a fever two nights, and would wake up in a cold sweat. I had muscle soreness as well. No runny nose or anything, except the constant sensation of a very painful blockage in the back of my soft palate. I had "hot potato" voice, and refrained from speaking as it hurt too much to talk.
After some online research, I decided to see an ear nose and throat (ENT) specialist on day 4. He confirmed my desciption of what everything looked like, and said that things looked worse. It was good I came in for another visit. I was instructed to immediately take ALL meds as prescibed. It would have only gotten worse without the meds.
It is day 6 and I am feeling a bit better after 2 days course of meds. It will be another couple of days (at least) until I am back to normal.
My suggestions for dealing with this:
Take the pain seriously and see your doctor ASAP. to not let anyone minimize the pain. It hurt awfully.
Go to the doctor asap if you have these symtoms!!! Nothing is more important than your health and peace of mind.
Do not try to tough it out as I did (not taking prescriptions) because IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE without medical attention.
DO NOT EAT these things: anything acidic (NO lemon, apple cider vinger), anything spicy (will hurt your throat even though this is a good decongestant), or anything scratchy (like crackers or ckicken). Only very very soft foods or liquids go down the gullet. Nothing too hot either.
I found eating watermelon and creamy chicken soup helped a great deal.
Good luck y'all!
