Hello everyone, I've been researching for my mother who received her first cortisone shot in her knee due to arthritis 3 1/2 weeks ago. Within a number of hours, her leg had swollen painfully, eventually reaching down to the foot and up to the groin area. After MRI's, Blood Tests and CT scans, her doctors are at a loss of what to do, or who to refer her to. Meanwhile, my mother is in great pain and sitting at home with her leg up. Has anyone that had side-effects of cortisone similar to this gotten better? Many of your posts don't come back to give an update and any information you have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I am 65 year old female. I had both knee injections 2 weeks ago. After 2 days my legs swelled horribly. Dr. had no answer. So if does not go away in a week I will see my orthopedic surgeon. My advice: Always have your injections done by a professional orthopedic doctor. I have had prior injections that helped my knees immediately and no swelling whatsoever. This has been a nightmare.
