Debbie:

I didn't work much today so work was great!!! I did run some errands however and still feel so much better than before surgery. I can now walk through a store without having to crouch down.....this is huge!

I know it can only get better so I'm extremely happy about how it's going.

Thanks for asking and I hope you find some relief. 4 years huh? Not sure I could have lasted that long.

Everyone:

I read all of your experiences and reports with great interest and care for each one of you. I am 10 days behind you David , so as I read your posts in particular I am always uplifted as I too had both sides and a long surgery but I was in pain for four years so more damage to undue I guess. I'm sorry to hear you have some pain back again . I agree with you that exercise in moderation is better than just lying around, its just a real fine line.

Leesa, my pain was always leg pain as well, severe sciatica and a burning on bottom of feet. I really believe you will heal faster due to your age and only one side so I am so happy for you, I hope you will continue to stay on this forum for awhile after you are healed, you are always so positive and funny.
Unfortunately I had a real bad last 2 weeks with tons of nerve pain on both sides. I got real depressed, cried everyday, and want you all to know having this forum to read is a lifeline so I don't feel so all alone in this. I did get ahold of Dr. Filler who put me on round 2 of the medrol dosepak and told to take motrin 3 times a day for a month thereafter and we will see from there. I don't take any pain meds as they make me feel very yucky. I do think this takes much longer to recover from than they tell you and wish they would be more realistic in their time frames. I just want all of you going into this to take that into account. I do still believe Dr. Filler was my best hope and even with a pretty severe setback I am hopeful for the future.
Menzie, thanks for that info it was a godsend. I still think the van is the way to go unless you can fly first class. I pray for your daughter daily. hawaiigirl

LOL Debbie,

Yes, I wish we could get over colds in hours as well. If I cough or sneeze one more time I am going to pass an intestine. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Leesa,

That's really fantastic. I can read the "upbeat" in your mood. Very happy for you.

Margie,

9 days and counting. Prayers started. If we can't convince God, maybe we can just wear him down.

Work calls, gotta go and I have to send my wife her morning love letter. We e-mail a morning love letter to each other every morning. She's such a neat lady. I know, corny as heck but it sure does jump start the day on a positive note and helps to stay in touch over the work day.

Hey all,

Been laying low until I got everything squared away because I didn't want to jinx anything.

I just booked my plane tickets and will be going to SF on 25 to see Dr. Layzer and hopefully Dr. Barbaro on the 26th. I don't know how much I will be able to get done while I am there (i.e., neurography/injections) but it's the first step (and first trip) towards hopefully surgery. FINALLY!

I'm scheduled for a guided piriformis injection here at home in the next week or so and I'm hoping that the info I get from that injection will be helpful when I go to SF.

So, finally, I'm on my way. Please pray your hearts out that this trip ends up with some positive information and outcomes. I am so nervous I could poop myself. 8O

Otherwise, I'm doing the same. Meds are helping me live a little more normal of a life which has been a god send. Smiling much more and crying much less.

So, there's my update! :D

Take care,
Julie

GREAT to hear you have a definite plan. I will pray for you like nobody's business!! You really, really need some answers and relief. The 25th will be here faster than you think. Until then, you might want to carry some extra wipes around with you just in case........

Hawaiigirl:

I will stay on this site for a while, that's for sure. I'm so grateful for everyone here. You guys have made this journey a little easier. I hope to give back as much as I can.

I must be the only guy on here from reading most of the post. I too believe I have piriformis of SIJD and have done everything other than surgery. Does anyone know of a Piriformis specific specialist in the Phoenix area. I have exhausted all options and am in desperate need of someone who knows whats goin on. Thanks.

Hi everyone:

I just spoke to Shirley and she's on her way back home tomorrow. She had her injections today and all went well. I had a chance to meet her and her friend who came along with her for support which was really nice. She's as nice in person as she is on this forum :) She was asking about everyone!

I'll let her fill everyone in on the details of her trip here to see Dr. Filler.

I'm still doing very well. Not much has changed in the past week or so, still have minor nerve pain in the morning but it's not getting worse which is the good news.

Margie: the clock is ticking! Hope you are doing ok.

David: I hope your cold is better.

Julie: Any accidents? :)

Hey Donna, I've been lurking on this site lately. Piriformis or SI problems. I might be having RF ablation on the SI. Can you fill me in on your experience? Thanks, David

Hi to everyone out there. Hope you are all having a good day. Shirley I hope your visit went well, I look forward to hearing your about your trip and your progress. My D's lip has finally went down, I had taken her to urgent care, talked with the PM dr, even took her to her dentist all in the hopes that they would know for if Subutex caused this. But anyways, she made it 13 days with no oxy, but each day started getting a bit worse, and when she is on the meds it is a 9 day, but her senses are duller. If that makes any sense. One positive it to note that I knew her back of her thigh hurt, and without the meds she definately noticed the big change. She really enjoyed having clear thinking when she was on the Subutex, along with neurontin, Ibuprophen, Tylenol. She will be stopping the IB meds because she has her surgery on 25th. I hope this all works out, because I am the one who did the research and made her go to Filler. If she doesn't get well, I know I did not mean to point her in the wrong direction. On spyhunterOO7 there is a ton of info about piriformis, other's experiences, and another doctor who works with professional athletes who have this disorder. He said his surgery took his pain down from a 7 or 8, to a 2. I hope my D can get down to a permanent 0, but if she can sit and start living again, go to school, be a person, then life will be grand. Everyone has been very quiet on this board.

Thanks for your ideas on how to get my D to L A. I made her choose, so we are driving, she is so fearful of flying AKA sitting after the surgery, so the choice has been made. Please say a prayer for us. I give thanks eachday that I have aligned with you all. Although I am not the sufferer, I am the bystander and suffer the results as well, just not physically. I really wish there were something that pain sufferer's could do, to get our society to demand pain relief. The army has some amazing things in the works for pain, but they are in trial, so mums the word. Anyways, smiles to you all, and welcome to our new "Man", I can't comment on the post you left because I do not know what RF is, it's about 6:45 my time, so some of you may even be asleep. bye Menzie

I forgot to post that we have put her back on the oxy because the pain kept getting worse each day, and when the tears hit, I begin to cry as well, only I am sitting on my shower floor, so she doesn't see. I begged her to please take the meds. It is sort of like I think she thought she was failing by taking the meds. I am so thankful she is taking them no more tears. I hate it when she cries.

I also want to give a big GOOD LUCK to Margie, I think your date it the 13th or the 14th. I am so excited for you and hope that you too, have the same luck as David and Donna, and Leesa too.

Hawaii Girl, I hope all is well and that your new meds are working better for you. We are driving.

P.S. So far there has been no improvement from the trigger point therapy...

Menzie,

You are one tough Mom and my heart goes out to you. Hang in there with all you've got, which I know you've already been doing. There's lots of people pulling for you.

HG,

Very sorry to hear about the nerve pain. Comes and goes, I know. I hope it turns for you soon.

Margie,

Big week. Thinking of you.

Julie,

Congrats and best of luck.

Leesa,

It's very encouraging to hear your continued uptick.

Thinking of all of you. Keep fighting.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I've had a nasty flu bug. Got it last Tuesday and it's still hanging on. I'm praying that it's gone before my surgery on Friday!

Thanks so much to all of you for remembering that this is my week! I'm pretty nervous about the whole ordeal but not so nervous that I'm gonna back out. I've come too far to back out! Truthfully, the thing I'm most nervous about is that I tend to puke my guts out after being given a general anesthesia. I've only had three other surgeries in my life (all very minor compared to this) and all three times I was miserable for two days because I just puked and puked! So I'm not looking forward to that part AT ALL!

Menzie, I will be praying for your daughter with her surgery not long after mine. It made me so sad to think of you sitting in your shower crying so that she wouldn't hear you. I pray that you both get relief very soon!

Sadie, so sorry the trigger point therapy didn't seem to work. I can't imagine how frustrated you must be.

Leesa and David you both just sound better and better every time we hear from you and that's such an encouragement. Keep those posts coming! I have a feeling that very shortly I'm going to positively CLING to every ray of hope I can get from our "graduates"!

Tomorrow's a big day for me. I have a hair appt. in the moring to make sure my hair looks good for the next few weeks. Don't want those gray roots screaming out at me from the mirror every morning when I'm already feeling like c**p! Then I meet with the anesthesiologist at UCSF to go over stuff and sign forms. Then tomorrow night my daughter is taking me to a Keith Urban/Carrie Underwood concert for my birthday which is shortly after my surgery. She knew I wouldn't be in any shape to "party" on my birthday so she planned something early for me. She's a sweetie!

Again, thank you all for remembering me. As Leesa and David have done, I will keep you all posted either daily or at least every couple of days as to how I'm progressing. If I start to whine, I expect you all to gently slap me upside the head and tell me to snap out of it!

Margie
