OMG THE SAME THING HAS HAPPEND TO ME I HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN USING PLAN B MORE THAN I SHOULD OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND MY ACNE ON MY FACE IS REDICULOUS I NEVER HAD ACNE PRIOR TO USING THE PILL,.. IT JUST OCCURED TO ME THE OTHER DAY THATS ALOT OF HORMONES GOIN INTO YOUR BODY AT ONCE AND THEY SAY ADULT ACNE IS NORMALLY CAUSE BY HORMONE CHANGES I AM NOW ON BIRTH CONTROL SO HOPEFULLY MY FACE WILL CLEAR UP I FEEL YOUR PAIN MY FACE LOOKS TERRIBLE RIGHT NOW NOT EVEN PROACTIV IS CLEARING IT UP!
The exact same thing happened to me. I took it just under a year ago and I'm still suffering from terrible painful zits. I've used every type of gentle facial cleanser you can name. I know it's caused by Plan B because I never had anything near this bad of acne before, even in my teens and through puberty. It's been almost a year and I'm really starting to worry if it's every going to go away. :-( How long does it take to get out of your system or am I stuck with this forever?
Plan b is terrible! I've come to find out over the years that my body is very sensitive to artificial hormones, birth control and plan b. Not am I only breaking out, I start to get excess body hair, and the worst part is my nose flairs back up with polyups. This is my body's way of saying "f**k that S**t" and it took me 3 and a half months to get most of it out of my system, so I felt healthy for once. But I just had to take it again... I was very, very angry. If you truthfully think about it. Artificial hormones aren't really good for us at all, our body is doing it's own thing just fine... I've been eating more organic foods and I've always exercised so that wont be a problem. But my body may stay in defense mode for who knows how long, even when the stuff is out of my system. My next step is getting the Copper IUD because it is a long lasting hormone free method of birth control. So I will never have to deal with hormones other then my own. Ever again.
Hey guys, my friend took the plan B pill about a couple of days ago. She is also acne prone, so the hormones could have contributed to the acne. Is this acne temporary? Or will it stay for a very long time?
I took plan B a week ago also, It's nice to know I'm not the one who had a serious breakout. I hope it goes away soon. Im still glad plan B is out there though, even with the acne it caused.
I took Plan B September 22, 2011 and started getting very bad acne a few weeks after. It's now November 2, 2011 and it's only getting worse. I have a dermatologist appointment this Friday hopefully I can get something to control it :( I've never had acne before in my life
Hi, im on the same page, for 3 months with huge cyst acne my face is destroyed. Iv been on nuvaring for 2 months and antibiotics but no luck, still getting like 2 or 3 cyst pimples a day!
Did anyone's acne caused by the morning after pill ever clear? I took it four months ago and my skin which was perfect before is now oily with enlarged pores, skin colored lumps under the skin on my cheeks. I also now have fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes which weren't there a few months ago. I've been to the dr several times and am on herbal supplements to help
Balance hormones. i haven't been on the pill for about 5 yrs because of side effects and not realizing what this really was I took it without researching it. I feel so stupid! I stress about it everyday as my skin is really getting me down. Does anyone know if this is temporary or am I stuck with the current state of my skin? Drs keep telling me different things! I've tried antibiotics and microdermabrasion without success.

Did your skin ever settle?
this post should not be understood as something telling women to decide not to take emergency contraceptive. even if it takes a year to achieve a return of your blemish-free skin, it takes about 18 years to raise a child.
Seriously go on spirnolactone. It cured me from plan b induced acne. Took about a month and a half but when it started to work it cleared it up fast! Acne was extremely depressing for me but this actually works for the hormonal acne plan b caused. Do not give up hope!!
The same exact thing happened to me. I had beautiful skin and only one pimple here or there and now my acne is so bad I can't even stand to go out in public. My dermatologist prescribed me topical creams and an antibiotic but it isn't helping very much. It's just drying out my skin dramatically. So has anything seemed to help for anyone? It's been about four months and I'm still suffering. Please help:(
Hi there,
I wrote on this forum over a year ago because of the skin side effects of the morning after pill. I too had really nice skin and now I'm still suffering from not so much cystic acne or pimples but rather little lumps underneath the skin especially my cheeks. My dr says they are sort of like comedones but no matter what products or exfoliation products I use, nothing helps. What did help a bit was taking evening primrose oil capsules as this helps to regulate your hormones again. I spent a fortune on products and this is the only thing that sort of helped. Has you skin improved at all? I've started to think that mine will never be how it once was.
I took plan b 2 years ago and had terrible Breakouts and cystic acne nonstop.. Omfg it was annoying.. They kept coming back I was so depressed by this.. I tried nearly everything that seemed reasonable.. However recently I went on a detox and cleansed my body and I worked with many different facial clays.. I also went for a colonic
And finally... Now my face is starting to clear up.. Not sure if it was from detoxing that c**p out of my system or from the colonic but I'm am thankful that my face is cleared again.. Hope this helps... Good luck.
A month after taking plan B, my skin went ballistic. I had previously clear skin (except for the occasional period-induced blemish). It has now been 4 months and my skin is finally starting to clear up. I also will be starting ortho-tri-cyclin soon as this is a pill that is known to help with acne. It's clearly a hormonal imbalance caused by plan B. That being said, I would rather deal with acne in the short-term than an unwanted pregnancy. Just be aware this can be a side effect of taking plan B! So try and stick with your regular form of contraceptive as much as possible!
