I also had a problem with ingrown pubic hairs. Im a guy, and I used to shave down there, but I don't anymore just because it became such a problem. Here's what to do to take care of it:

Take a hot shower or bath to soften up the area. Clean the area with soap or an antibacterial wash such as hibicleans. Use a clean needle or pair of tweezers and pull the hair out. Try not to break any more than the first layer of skin because it could get infected. Clean the area afterward. I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and then put on an antibacterial cream. Don't pick at it any more because it could get worse.

If it gets bigger, redder, and more painful, it could be a MRSA Staph infection and you should see your doctor right away. The process to get rid of these infections isn't too bad, they just cut open the sore, drain the absess, and then they may have to stitch you up if the cut is big. They will get a culture sample to find out if it is a staph infection and will give you antibiotics to kill off the infection.

This exact thing is happening to me right now. I'm totally freaked out. I squeased the two bumps so much that I am completely swollen down there now. It is so painful too. Afraid that it's herpes, I went to the doctor two days ago. She looked at them and thought they were ingrown hairs and that they got swollen due to the trauma I caused by squeezing so much. I did have a blood test just in case and I'm awaiting the results. I am seriously a basket case right now...if anyone has had this and got rid of it please tell me!!!

I get them a lot on my face and pubic area whether i shave or not but especially when i do. If the in grown hairs are growing in size, my advice is soak a towel with hot water and at least keep it there for 10 min. If you cant see the hair eventually and tweezer it out, soak the thing with rubbing alcohol. I do this especially when its in a shitty place like right btw my upper thigh and pubic bone where if i walk it hurts like a b***h, i usually pop the thing and soak it in alcohol so i can actually function. Eventually it dries out.

As far as shaving you just have to prepare you skin for now on. Try to trim with clippers or something before you shave your pubes, use a sh*t load of shaving cream, short strokes, and disinfect the area after. DON'T SCRATCH, your fingernails have bacteria on em and sh*t that just infects it. Also be careful your underwear isn't too tight, sometimes that makes them curl. This should work for really huge ones too, my best had em bad one time that he asked if he could show me cause he was worried. things were the size of trial size shampoos lol, anyway i told him the same sh*t and it worked so if yours aren't any bigger than golf balls you should be fine.

Also don't go to the emergency room, not cause it waste anybody's time, but it just makes you look like kinda a p****

Wow. I'm sorry, but you people are rediculous. Someone was trying to help someone else by saying its stupid to run down to the ER for something like this. Meanwhile all of you are too busy worrying about his or her typos to actually help the person in need. Just to let you know, everyone is human and makes typing mistakes. If you don't then go be a typist for your profession or something, but all you made your own typing mistakes. Maybe you should proofread what you say before you post it because you sound like a m***n. Another thing, not every nurse is there to just order food or flirt with doctors to waste your time. Every ER no matter where you go is always congested. If you didn't know that then you need to get out into the real world There are some on occassion that don't give a c**p about what they do, but there are others who paid alot of money for their education to do their job. Oh, and lastly, nurses aren't always the ones who make mistakes and are often wrongfully accused. So you know what, he or she served a point by telling the person not to go to the ER and saving that person some grief and some cash.

In the ER clients are triaged and seen in order of emergency. However, it is aggravating when people go to the ER when it is not in fact an emergency. That's the clients right though, it is just way more expensive then a doctor visit!

well i had the same prob for a while. i had one and it would get very big and look like a volcano almost then i popped it and it went down. well the other day it finally came out and was about 1 1/2 inches long!! o.O i had the prob for a few months at least. if it doesnt come out in a few weeks to a month then go to a dermatologist and if it gets swollen or infected. go to the doctor or hospital.

Listen. I had something very similar almost exactly the same symptoms. It is a Staff Infection, go to the doctor and get some antibiotics but do this soon or it will spread.

I would just like to say that I have frequently had the same problems for the last 8 years. An ingrown hair that sometimes turns into sizes almost as large as a golf ball! It is extremely painful! For me it has ranged in sizes from the size of a marble and bigger. Purplish in color and hard as a rock. This is called an abscess, which is filled with poison. And for some reason if it ruptures internally, it will go into your bloodstream. So, everytime I get one I GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO DIE! The suck the infection out and then you're as good as new. SO for all you people that don't know what you're talking about:P

First of all, I think every single one of you jumping on the health care professional's back, needs to hop right back off... You only think they make so many mistakes because the mistakes they make are in the limelight.. Every single one of us makes mistakes.. But most of our mistakes may not affect other people.. So before you start pointing fingers, you should make sure your own hands are clean!

Male / 40yrs I've had this for 2 and a half years. For the first 2 years I had no idea what it was, had checks for blocked tubes, testicular cancer, hernia, appendicitis, etc etc.. no doc could find what was wrong.

Nothing was visible on the surface.

It's only now that a volcano has appeared - and I'm 99.9% sure there must be a ten foot hair curled up in there. gah

Off down the clinic.. get the feller with a knife to do his worst lol. Will be WELL RID of the mysterious & highly debilitating pain I've had for all of living memory. It's like being winded, a punch to the guts, being flicked in the balls with a towel.. constantly. oof

one tip for shaving down there is to apply neosporen (sp?) afterwords or some sort of healing cream. it prevents razor burns and such. also if anyone gets a lump about the size of a pea under the skin (with no visible marks on the skin) go to the doctor asap, it might be a cyst. i had one down there and i didnt go to the dr until it was super painful. having it lanced when it was already at about an 8 for pain made it that much worse.

I don’t know if this is possible and it may be a stupid question but I have athletes foot and I don't know if it’s possible that it could spread to the vagina. They look similar to the same type of sores I get on my feet and I have treated my feet but it keeps coming back. If I touched my foot could it spread to my vagina if I scratched it or something after? I also shaved before but it was about 3 days ago
