I noticed a few years ago something that somewhat felt something like bone on the back of my anus. For the past few years I've ignored it and figured it could possibly be my tailbone but I tried to do some research today and from what I concluded the tailbone doesn't go down to the anus (well not that I could see anyway, but I never took human anatomy so it's obviously just a guess) It's never irritated me and it has only been the one.
I just need some verification that It's a normal thing and it's just part of human anatomy. Call me a hypochondriac if you want, but I'd rather be considered a hypochondriac then to have something wrong and not know about it and if it's something that needs treating, not treating it.
So some information would be nice. I've spent at least two hours trying to find answers and came up with nothing.

Your tail bone ("Coccyx") does extend down quite near the anus... If you've had a trauma to your coccyx (fallen on your rear!) sometime in the past, it could have broken or developed a spur.
If it's not growing, and it's been there a couple of years I wouldn't worry about it myself. (as long as it doesn't start wagging when you're happy)

Thank you! Even if I was freaking out over nothing I feel better knowing that it actually IS nothing. =]
