i just wouldlik to know after my varicocelectomy in the left side my left tsesticle is cold, and what shall i do to prevent the recurrency ,what are the causes of the varicolcele and post operative care?
A varicocele is a back up of pooled blood in the vein returning from the scrotum. It is most common on the left side, strictly due to the plumbing, and the likelihood that a valve has failed.
It doesn't mean you are in trouble, sterile or damaged. Opinions vary, but figures indicate between 10 percent and 50% of all men have some form of it.
Some varicocele will hurt, and most initial do not. Surgery may be indicated by a doctor or urologist if he believes you can be helped or need it.
Some men just need better support in their undershorts, and some ignor the condition with NO complications.
One complication could be impaired fertility, but that also must be froma doctor's exam, testing, and referal.
There is a wonderful article on Varicoceles on this webpage, on the left side of the forum page. I urge you to read it.
You may also find responses from several bitter men who have had or claim complications from the surgery after the fact.
Most men heal in about 4-6 weeks, with no sex or strenuous activity for the first two weeks or so, or until Dr.'s OK. Some use icepacks to reduce any swelling, tighter shorts or jockey shorts instead of boxers. Again, you should be asking your doctor about this, and I urge you to read the articles on this website concerning Varicoceles. You might also look them up on wikipedia.org though that is not the official word.
