no- I had a bit of residual pain for approx 3 wks- now I occasionally feel a little dull ache in my low back- I think I'm a bit paranoid- probably like you! I feel good- still just wish I knew WHY i got the stone & how to prevent another one- I'm drinkingt tons of water
I had kidney stones since 1996. In Sept., a ct scan showed a cluster of stones on my right side. The larger 15mm and a 7mm on my left side. I was schedule for surgery until my aunt, a doctor, asked me to try Chanca Piedra and natural limonade. I past all but 2 as sand with no paint only discomfort. No hospital. The two left are now very small. I recommend it to all.
have they checked your daughters parathyroid glands???
Hello, I am so sorry to hear that you are having this surgery. I just had it on December 10th. I've had 4 children, one with no medication. I usually pass 3-6 kidney stones on my own every year. This stone would not pass on its own for 3 years, so due to daily pain and spasms, we opted for surgery. The pain and spasms I experienced after the kidney stone surgery was beyond explanation or belief. I had to use the max of the pain pills every 4-5 hours, every day for 7 days, then the worst thing happened.. .they removed the stent. You do not realize how awful the pain is after your surgery, because you are still feeling the effects of the anesthesia. BUT they do NOT give you anything for the stent removal. The removal is slightly uncomfortable. Then the spasms start. My pain was so severe that I screamed and cried for about 2 hours. I had to use 3 pain pills to get to where I did not have to scream and cry. Please make sure they give you plenty of pain pills, and get a refill before you have the stent removed, as I ended up using my spare stash that I keep for when I pass a stone on my own. I wish you the very best through your surgery and if at all possible, I do hope you do not have to have a stent.
I just had my stent removed on Wednesday and I'm dealing with the pain NOW. I've exceeded the recommended dose for Advil and have started bleeding- does the pain ever go away?? I haven't slept for a full night since BEFORE I had the surgery.
I had my surgery on the 10th and my stent removed on Dec 17, and had pain until Dec 28th. My doctor had me on advil for the inflammation, but also norco/lortab for the pain. I would NOT have been able to handle it without the prescription pain medication. I bled and passed blood clots until the new year. I finally got a full night's sleep on New Year's eve. I hope that your pain reduces soon. I found heating pad helped, as well as maxing out on the advil (800 mg every 8 hours) kept the swelling down, and that helped with the pain level as well.
Sorry I did not respond sooner. I had actually traveled out of state for the holidays (my flight was excruciating with the turbulence) and did not access the web all that often while I was gone.
this is also too late but ive just had my fourth kidney stone op but told them to do thier best NOT to put in stent after as everytie i had that i,d get massive spasms all down that side and it caused me trouble the whole 9weeks it was in,went to A & E the day after & they gave me diazepam to help the spasm which did but still had trouble with the stent in.Well im at home today (11.1.13friday} after op yesterday with no stent & felt fine coming home & rest of the night but woke early hrs (am sitting here as we speak) with similar pain & spasms altho not as severe as last time but still enuf to prevent me going babk to sleep & ive been pacing about as i cant sit still....taken some ibruprofen which as helped but not enough to completely free me from this? Maybe the hospital painkillers have wore off & this is expected after such surgery but it is not completely without pain for some .Everybody is different but i didnt come home with any painkillers from hospital which i think i should have .I also find myself constipated which just adds to the discomfort. If it gets too bad i,ll make a trip down to A&E again but im holding out in case its normal to feel this ,
gravelly gus, i suffer from underactive thyroidss & have also suffered with kidney stones & have just had my fourth op minus the stent this time as i thought it was just this that caused my painful spasms which i now know you can get without having a stent in, (hense im sat here after waking up early hrs with them.I too read that your calcium glands can be overactive & produce oxylate & im convinced this is why i keep getting the stones.Ive mentioned this to doctors etc but after 7yrs of nhaving them not one doctor/surgeon has offered this info or done anthing about it?You can have the calcium gland removed as you have several of them and you can test which ones is over active but need some vitamin replacement to take after for life as we all need calcium for our bones.I think all this boils down to money with them yet i must cost the nhs lots with all the ops i keep having. Prevention seems better in first place and just wish they would offer this .
i agree,i found post op pain very bad when i had my large stones removed 3 years ago,not looking forward to having another load removed in two weeks time mainly because this time i know what its going to feel like..

dont know if this will help you at all but my father in law is an extreme stone producer and he found that taking Hydrangea pills you can buy at the health food stores.. cause the stones to be smooth and round and pass with very little pain and I believe it helps prevent them .. Old Indian cure he read of in a book .. do some checking It may help you
