After using the Nuva ring for about 5 years, I stopped when I was 30 with the intent to start TTC. I did not get a period again for 11 months.

Just be patient. Everyone is different and your body will correct itself eventually.

Have you had children yet guest?? That would provide me with some comfort. That must've been stressful waiting that long for a period. The last doctor I seen also said that my estrogen levels are a bit low which could contribute to my lack of periods. I've got an appointment with the gynocologist on Thursday and I'm not very patient when it comes to this so hopefully she'll be able to provide some answers.

Well the results are in and I have PCOS. It didn't show up at the initial blood test because the pill was still leaving my system but now the gynocologist has confirmed it. She has put me on metformin for 3 months and she said with that alone, I may start ovulating and get pregnant but if that doesn't work I will be going on clomid. I also have to loose weight which is difficult but necessary.

I often wondered why its been so hard for me to loose weight in the past but the doctor said that this is common with people with PCOS because the brain is sending the wrong signals at the wrong time which is leading to a hormone imbalance and thus the body stores fat in the wrong ways due to insulin resistence. My head was spinning when I came out.

I heard that I need to start and finish my family asap because PCOS only gets worse as you get older so my window of opportunity to have children is much smaller than the average woman. However she did provide hope and said that I am still young and she has confidence that, with treatment, I will be able to have children.

She said it is extremely common with up to 20% of women suffering from PCOS. It's funny how you never hear about it though and I don't know of anyone with it because nobody talks about it. I don't tell my family about it because I don't want to be pitied due to my infertility. Everyone seems to just think about getting pregnant and boom they are! My cousin told me that she decided to get pregnant and got pregnant within 3 weeks!

I really hope that I can get pregnant now. More than anything in the world I want to have children.

I know im late to this, but I’m an 18 year old female and I need help!! I was last sexually active about 4 weeks ago with my fiancé. I have been on the pill but needed to stop as it was making me feel sick and with a history of epilepsy I decided it was for the best. BUT I continued to use protection (condoms). I am about a week over when I should get my period, I’m usually quite irregular, so I’m not overly concerned about that, but a few nights ago I got a stabbing pain around my bum and vagina which lasted just under a minute. I usually have a little pain down there with my periods but not near that bad! I have milky white discharge (that does not smell) and while I usually get it quite a bit it has got a little bit heavier over the past week. I have not been sexually active with anybody before and I know its the same with my fiance, he has had blood tests and came back clean so I know its not an STI. So far, my breasts haven’t changed and I have no other symptoms of pregnancy except a late period, increase in discharge and stabbing pain that one time. Does anybody know anything about what my symptoms are? Is there any way that my late period could be to do with the pill I was taking about 2 months ago (even though I have had my period since then) and should I be worrying???  Please, I need help!!!!  Harkins, how did you know that it was prog induced?? I had one period after going off my pill but am late!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I don't know if this is the ray of sunshine you are looking for because I'd still suggest you have your hormones etc. tested by a doctor like I did, because that will rule out other causes, but I too had no period for over a year after going off the pill. To tell the truth I still haven't had one for nearly three years now but that is because I am now breastfeeding and had nine months of pregnancy. I had just decided to use my referal to a specialist when I also decided to try a vitamin my friend suggested. She had also had the same problem. The vitamin said not to take it if there was a chance you were pregnant and because my store of tests were going to go out of date anyway, I decided I might as well use one. From that I was in disbelief to find that I was 8 weeks pregnant. I'm still not back on the pill and doubt I will go back on it until we've finished having children.

I've been experiencing post-pill amenorrhea for 9 months now.  I went to the GP at 6 months for blood tests which came back normal.  It is very common not to have periods after stopping the pill and can last up to 2 years.  Providing you're in good health otherwise, just enjoy the lack of periods while you can!  It's nothing to worry about.

I have been told by my doctor I could have this. Although I missed a period whilst I was still taking the pill!. I have been on the pill for 6years have tried a couple actually due to some bleeding problems. I am worried. Me and my partner have decided we would like to try for a baby and it's very upsetting knowing that this may not happen either for a long time or I have been told I may need some help from a particular drug you can get after you have been trying for a year. I can't remember being told about this when I first started the pill. I am experiencing some
Cramping and breat changes and have had to buy pregnancy tests but always negative.i don't know why the next step is now I guess me and my partner keep trying and if no luck eventually I will be r referred to the fertility clinic

Estava muito aflita e ler outras experiências, me ajudou.Obrigada

I was 29 when I went off the pill after 5 years. I had always been a little irregular before going on the pill, but after I came off I didn't get my period at all for 9 months, so I went to my doctor. He said this could be normal, gave me some heavy dose hormone pill and told me if I didn't have a period after taking the pill, then he would do some additional follow ups and it might be time for concern. Well, I got my period exactly as I was told to expect after the pill, so all seemed fine. I then went another year before a second period, and then suddenly they became as regular as clockwork. I've been super regular for the last two years, and now debating going back on the pill again, but that first post-pill freaked me out. I'm also 33 and would hate to shorten any windows if life suddenly takes a different turn.
