Don't allow people that don't know you or your situation to get under your skin. Although I think 60mgs is a little high you know what's best for you. I was taking 12-15, 10 mgs of percocets a day when I had my 3 yr old daughter and she was born completely healthy with no withdrawals. After she was born healthy I knew that she was my miracle so I decided to go to the methadone clinic. Even though I regret that now it did give me back a better quality life. I was tapering out when I found out I am pregnant. Right now I am at 21 mgs a day and even though I'd like to keep going down very slowly they won't allow it. I never wanted to get pregnant while in MMT but abortion will NEVER be an option for me!! My counselor told me today that the baby only gets 2% of what you take so I am hoping being at such a low dose that he/she will be born free of withdrawals. I am praying!! Who are you calling a dumbass? For you to sit there and talk down to someone who you know nothing about is just cruel and someone needs to pray for you. You know nothing about addiction apparently so why you feel the need to comment is beyond me. For a lot of women we don't plan to get pregnant while on methadone. I was tapering out of the clinic when I found out I am pregnant. I actually feel for your baby to have such a cruel, judgmental and foul mother. If you aren't schooled in methadone maintenance or addiction then you have no right talking to anyone that way. You don't know any one of our life stories. News flash: addiction happens and for someone like you to try to kick someone while we are already down is just a class in itself. You need help and a lot of praying for!! I commend your sister for going to the clinic because it is a lot better than being addicted to drugs. If she tries to taper out it could harm the baby but then again you know every f*****g thing. Get a clue. I do not agree with taking anything while pregnant but sh*t happens sometimes. Not all babies are born with withdrawals. If I were you I would get right with God because if you talk or treat your child the way you treat strangers who have been through a lot then you are in for a rude awakening. Never judge anyone not knowing the path they've been down. I pray that you find it within yourself to make things right with your sister and with everyone else you wrongfully judge and ridicule because if not you have a long lonely ride to hell when you die. I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have been in the methadone maintence treatment for 2 years. I* got pregnant while having my IUD in AND using a condom (we wanted another child but not until I was off of the methadone so we were thinking we were being safe). But, we are pregnant and very excited! About an hour after I take mhy dose, I get cramps, like from a period. No bleeding or anything and it goes away within 30 minutes or so. I went to the er the first time it happened b/c if freaked me out but they said everything was ok. I was just curious if this happens to anyone else??

I'm currently on methadone too I'm on 110 mg and I've been to a lot of classes and hot a lot of very good info , there's always a chance of complications but methadone us safe to take and the baby will be in the hospital for about a week , also be on a morfien drip it will help the baby from the withdrawal . When your baby is born the will score your baby for signs of withdrawal there's like 20 or more different things to look for as signs of withdrawal so the nurses or the nursery will watch carefully .. There is a lot of judgmental people out there witch make it hard but don't worry about them there just very uneducated . Your baby wil be fine as long as your not doing anything else meaning any other drugs or meds . Try to keep yourself as heathy as possible .

Well, I am not sure what your sister was doing or not doing but I have been going to a methadone clinic for over 7 years now, I have a very healthy 6 year old daughter and a very healthy daughter 5 years old, they were born 13 months apart and I was on the 130 mgs daily dose that I am on now the whole pregnancy of both of them. How your baby does after born depends strictly on the baby, my oldest that is 6 DID NOT have to have not one dose of it and never had a withdrawal symptom, now on the other hand, my youngest which is now 5 did have to have it and was weaned off over a period of a couple of weeks but never experienced any discomfort at all. I know because your not an addict you don't understand but if you are a mother than you should really stop and think about saying things about someone's children when you are not aware of their situation, instead of spending time on here downing them for trying to do better, you should be spending that time encouraging and praying for them and their babies, just something to think about!!!!!

Hi, I am very concerned about my cousin. Your post is the first one, that has been the best reply. I too believe it is a miracle for my cousin. However, she is being told to follow through with the pregnancy on methadone. I am doing all the research for her, she is dead set on having the baby, and her baby being weaned off. She is 3-4 months pregnant. I agree, it is a blessing and opportunity to better her life, however, she is terrified she will miscarry or some thing worse. Hi, I read your post, and it is the best info. I have found yet. My cousin is 3-4 weeks pregnant on currently on methadone. She is told she can have the baby on the methadone and of course the baby risks birth defects, and you know the deal, what the clinics tell you. I want her off the methadone. Please e-mail me and give me some more information. How did you do the wean so quickly? Were you at a pay clinic or regular no pay?? Please respond as soon as possible. I need and and desperately want her off. Please throw some suggestions my way and help. yes baby will feel it if you do.im 32 weeks tomm started 35 to 45 mg on 65 to 85 mg now if you need it you gotta take it drs say too if your on 180 mg or 80 mg baby can still be sick dont matter dosage
