I too am having all of the symptoms that you all are having. I actually just saw my doctor for the 2nd time yesterday and am having an ultra sound today. They are telling me that I have built up scar tissue from the tubal and may need to do surgery to remove. I had my surgery done in April of 2005 and my cycles have been horrible each month. It seems to be getting worse. My moods have been horrible and I too am very fatigued around that time of the month. The pain is horrible and I never before had bad pms prior to the ligation. We will see if they diagnose me with irratiable bowl syndrome.

Did you ever have the surgery done to remove the scar tissue.

I got pregnant after mine because the metal clip slipped off the tube. The clips also caused me extreme pain during the entire pregnancy. When I delivered in Nov. the doctor removed the clips and I have had no pain at all since. Good luck with your proceedure.

What type of tubal did you get? I wonder if you had the clips as well.

My tubes were banded as well in 2010 and I've been in terrible pain ever since. The last month has gotten a lot worse. Thanks for the info! Now I know what to talk to my doctor about what I want done.

I have to say i cannot believe what i am seeing.  How can anyone sit here and tell me all these women have the same problem and not one doctor has had the guts to do something about it?  They have seminars on some of the most ridiculous c**p i've ever seen.  Why wouldn't someone step up and say "Hey we need to listen to these women.  They really do have these problems!"  My wife has been dealing with the exact same symptoms since her tubal ligation in 1999.  We went back to see the doctor that did the surgery and he blamed it on post-pardom depression.  The next three visits were a prescription for different types of birth control.  Not one had a positive affect.  Most made it worse.  The last visit he told us he'd reverse it for $40,000 up front.  Every month she goes through this pain and i sit here helpless because i know there is nothing i can do.  All doctors need to be made aware of this somehow.  Anyone know a doctor open-minded enough to read these posts and become and advocate to do something about it?  I know there has to be at least one doctor in this great nation that can agree that this many women have a problem that needs to be addressed.

I gave my doctor a print out of this blog and when it was all said and done......she stated to me that she would no longer be using this type of tubal ligation on her future patients. However the entire time that I complained of the pain, she showed very little concern and did not properly record my complaints each visit. Tied my hands when I searched for lawyer to get products off of market.

I would like to see a suit started to get these products off of the market. There is absolutely no reason for any woman to have a foreign object placed in her body for any reason that is not life saving. It is the body's natural reaction to reject foreign objects.

I personally have a very high sensitivity to anything changes in my body, I believe your body is telling you something is wrong if you experience pain or discomfort........don't medicate it, find the problem and correct it. I am 40 and the only family member that does not suffer from any type of desease, chronic pain, or physical limitations. To all of you women out there suffering pain in your abdomen, listen to your body and don't give up until your doctor listens to you. It can be corrected. :)

It really does seem like we are all in the same boat!!! I had my TL during my second C-sec. so I already had scar tissue there before! and probably even more now! It's been 3 years since my TL and the monthly cycle is HORRIBLE!!! I NEVER had pms before! EVER!!! now i can't seem to control myself! my emotions are all over the place! i'll go from feeling soooo sappy that i'm crying to instant RAGE!!! THEEEENNNN there's the pain!!!!  It started that it was just a really bad period!!! horrible cramps front and back! HEAVY bleeding, i'm talking CLOTS the size of a walnut or bigger! I can tell when there's a clot that's stuck because ( i know this is graphic) my vagina will HURT and cramp! and the other day while i was on my cycle i sneezed really hard and i swear on everything something ripped inside me where my ovaries or my tubes should be on my right side... now i can hardly stand up straight! i can't pick up my toddler or play with my 5 yr old! I can't take care of my home b/c i'm bent up in pain! i cant even walk b/c it hurts to move my right leg!!! even to curl up into a ball (which usually helps) but whats funny is that i stopped bleeding since the "ripping incident". Now weather that's because my body said ok you're done for now you can only handle one thing at a time or my cycle just felt like giving me a break (since i have no timing of it, like there used to be, anymore) or there's something REALLY wrong!!! like a huge clot blocking everything b/c i'm still bloated and getting more so by the hour... i just don't understand how all the docs can keep ignoring us when there are OBVIOUSLY a lot of us out there with THE SAME problems!!!!! i too have been considering a reversal... i am not opposed to more children as much as i just want all the madness to end! this is ridiculous! there has to be something more here! they do studies all the time! meaningless studies about meaningless c**p! do one that is going to HELP SOMEONE! HELP US!!!!! there HAS to be an answer out there! if my Dr. had told me there was even the slightest possibility of this i would NEVER have agreed! taking a pill every day is DEF better than all this c**p!!! sorry ladies for my rant :-) i'm sure someone will second and even third at least something in there... and i'm sure there are a few even saying "you made your bed now sleep in it" well sure, tough titty said the kitty but the milks still good!!!! ;-) GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BATTLES GIRLS!!! God bless you all!

I had a endometrial ablation and bilateral salpingectomy done in 2007, I now have pain in my lower right side so painful i get sick, so tired i cant keep my eyes open. The pain spreads all across my stomic and my back, this goes on for about two days, then my stomic feels like a boil inside for a couple of days and i got a job to walk or use the washroom because my insides feel so inflamed, then i get this popping that hits me in the spine and travels up my back and takes me right off of my feet. had altersounds done, even internal altersounds cant seem to find anything. This has been going on now for to long and im starting to get scared. I miss work because of this and im starting to feel that nobody belives me when i tell them the pain im in and how im feeling please help.

Lady's, I am a concerned husband doing research to try and help my wife with the exact same problems you are all having, most of you may not get this post given that you have all writen on here overr a year ago. But by some grace of god I do hope that most of you if not all read this. I have been franticly searching for answers for my wife, we both work for an OBGYN in Idaho, they are the best at what they do in this state. They have no answer to what is going on, so i turned to over 25 other specialists to find some kind of an answer or direction.
My mother had kidney cancer and had a kidney remove, along with that she had a lower abdomen incision and experienced the same thing you all are/have. After going to the chiropractor she learned that with these types of surgeries there are certain ligaments that can shorten, the doc explained it all to her and she almost cried thinking of my wife who has been in stabbing pain for a while now, my wife went in and is currently getting therapy which is making this pain go away. Yes the roller ball ablation to the uterus is very much recomended but that isnt the main issue. The scar tissue is caused by the ligaments and can be fixed for far less money and is incredibaly working to this day with my wife and my mother. I put this page on my favorites just so i could tell all of you what to do if I found an answer. I new eventually I would because I felt for my wife and wanted to make sure she could live without pain again one day. Please even if you dont buy it or dont believe me just go have an exam done with a chiropractor and ask him about it, or call multiple docs before hand and ask, I dont know how this guy found this info, it might have been school or some other training, so ask around and try it, if it doesnt work at least it wont be a 1200 dollar visit. my mother had these symptoms for over 3 years and has now been pain free for 2, my wife is pain free for the first time in a very long time but has not yet reached the 1 year mark for no pain.
My recomendations are the chiropractor, rollerball abaltion (OBGYN), and healthy living (vitamins(GNC), right diet, excercise, sunlight, and remembering that even though you are going through hell in these hard time dont take it out on your family) My wife an I almost got divorced twice due to these horrible symptoms, I wanted to do the snip treatment due to cost but she wanted to go ahead with this because of some kind of certainty that she would not get prego again. for you and your families just please try what i have suggested.

Through my research for my wife I found that in almost every case these procedures have anywhere from a 1500% to 5000% mark-up/ profit for the indinidual practice. So no they will not take this off of the market due to the jacked up health care system, this is why it is messed up. not to make this political but still.

To add to my findings through my wifes chiropractor, she spoke with him some more today and said that we should mention two other possibilities on here. One being liver problems, which is also tied to the second possible problem but he isnt versed well enough in this type of medicine to confirm for sure. The liver for some reason has bad reactions to lower abdomenal surgery such as TL's, it starts reacting in such a way that makes you feel as if someone is stabbing you in either the lower left or right side, but mostly the left for some reason, and the simple solution is lots of beets or beet capsules, and he said LOTS of them, until your stools turn red. And then 4-5 sessions of therapy with your chiropractor. The second thing would be Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome after laparoscopic tubal ligation, it is an uncommon spread of infection in pelvic inflammatory disease that causes perihepatitis. This doesnt mean you have the disease but it means that F.H.C. syndrome is all of the horrible side effects of that particular disease without having that type of hepatitis, it will hurt like no other and make you very depressed if it is not addressed, but he said most doc's wont check for this type of thing unless it fits your symptoms. if they turn you down have them look at this link, www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/12746999/
And this will explain alot to your doc even if you dont understand it.
So after everything and over 25 docs we finally discovered 3 main causes but remember this doesnt mean that it is one of the three due to other fact dependent situations. 1: shortening of ligaments 2: liver issues. 3: fitz-hugh-curtis syndrome. all of these are easily fixed for little cost as opposed to a reversal. hope we have helped, if not it was worth a shot. Sad that it takes a concerned husband to figure out something like this, even if this doesnt help all I know it will help alot of women going through this c**p, I wish most doctors, not even all just alot of them, would try and have this same type of persistance in finding solutions to their patients problems.

I finally found out what was wrong with me after having my tubal ligation. I tried different types of birth control to help alleviate the pain, but nothing helped. Finally I found a doctor that said because I had tried numerous things that she was ok with doing a hysterectomy. I had my surgery in May and have been pain free ever since. They did tell me that they found blood vessels that were constricted on my left side which is the side I always had the pain on. The solution to this problem was doing a hysterectomy. I only had a partial as I am only 28. Still have my ovaries so I do not have to go through hormone therapy. Good luck ladies!

My mood swings happen about 4 days before my period. I get really depressed and cry easily. The severe pain starts 2 days before my period. It is sharp pain usually on the left side. I pass out from the pain and wake with large head aches. I also become nauseated and get the runs. My blood pressure goes really high and the really low and constantly changes from hour to hour, which I believe is from the pain. Sometimes they blame the meds for the lowering; but, if they take me of meds it still goes up and down. I have been hospitalized a lot. Nobody seems to know why. I get cyst before my period and they disappear after my period. I have tried to self medicate and have gotten so many drugs for pain from docs. The fourth day of my period my symptoms subside, always like clock work. I am so tired of being this way. It all started after my TL in 08. I am just so happy I am not alone and going crazy. The docs always seem to not have an answer for me; or one that fits me.  At this point they can rip all my female parts out.

This sounds just like my problems. I had my tubes tied April 2011 and the first 3 months I bled non stop then nothing. Last week I had cysts that burst and started a really heavy period that hurt so bad I couldn't sleep or lay down for that matter. Mood swings were and still are terrible. At one point I even told my husband I was leaving him and wanted a divorce. My kids were scared of me. My head just hasn't been right since last year. None of this was discussed with me prior to the surgery either. Now I have no insurance so can't see a doctor. I just try to control my crazy as much as possible, but being in my head alone with it is even worse. Feel better soon.....

I am so thankful that I found this thread, and read everything everyone had to say.  My OBGYN keeps trying to force tubal ligation on me, but after reading all this, I am refusing it.  I have severe pelvic pain, and through my own investigation, and prior history, I have come to the conclusion it is cause by adhesions from my c-section 19 years ago, and uterine ablasion 6 years ago.  She gave me the choice of a hysterectomy, or diagnostic laproscopy with tubals for whatever I decide.  I'm going to tell her I want to do the diagnostic (for the adhesions) without tubal.  I'm so afraid it will put me in a tail spin worse than I already am if I have my tubes tied as well.  Thanks again everyone.

In 1997 after an emergency C-Section my doctor suggested that I have my tubes removed because of excessive scar tissue so because they thought It might be cancerous I allowed it, regretfully. I am 49 now and I still have my ovaries and uterus. But I have experienced premenstrual depression, constipation, and excessive hemorrhage type bleeding for at least 2 of the 3 or 4 days of my period. I have also gained about 40 lbs and experience pain on my left pelvic side and back pain during menstrual cycles. I don't have insurance now but would like some advice on how this is handled. I have a beautiful husband who doesn't deserve the vile that comes from me during these times. I have even been so depressed I can't tell you, I just couldn't imagine life going on like this.
