May 2011-April 2012 felt like a million bucks, no periods what so ever!
April 2012-mild cramps like stomach flu
Pains coming every month around the time of my used to be periods increasing by the month. This past month I was seen in the E.R 4 times, labeled a pillhead, verbally attacked by the triage nurse, told I was crazy it was all in my head, had 3 CT scans, 2 contrasted 1 not, and found out im allergic to Morphine which didn't do any good to curb the pains by any means. Finally the last E.R I was seen at the doctor told me to stop talking because he knows what's going on as he's seen this in women before. He orders a ultrasound STAT and it comes back that I have 10 Ml fluids traped,a 8MM fibroid/cyst in my uterus, massive amounts of scar tissue and a 1.6 CM cyst in my right ovary. The reasoning behind all of this was my ablation as either my cervix scarred over or was burnt shut with the wand!!! I am now trying to find a doctor who will perform a hysterectomy on me to cure me of these God awful pains that makes me sleep all the time, vomit and loose time with my family.
I'm 28 and I had a tl in 2008 after c-sec of my twins. I wasn't warned of any effects. Just knew it was a permanent bc and was okay with that. In 2010 I started having a pain in my lower left side about 4 inches above my scar. I can feel a hard place in that area starting from the scar to my belly button and it's so tender to the touch internally and externally. It's worse at my period and swells slightly--and after reading these posts it's from the tl (has to be!). The pain used to start a day or so after my period began and then last for 2 weeks or so and then go away...now, it starts 24 hours before my period starts and last for THREE weeks...I only have a break of pain of 10 days if that and the dread and stress and fatigue of worrying is just so much. I can't get up and walk without hunching over like a 90 year old because I can't stretch the area and the pain just to sit down or move is extreme. Period pain is also so much worse since the tl--and heavier. I assumed it was period related or something in the female area--or even scar tissue...but after reading each story I am not alone. I have searched for answers, but nothing added up until now.
Does anyone have a follow up on previous stories? How did they remedy this? Surgery? Reversal? Therapy (med/phy)?
Hi guest, I've been M.i.A on this page for about a month due to pains and bouncing back and forth to the doctors but I did finally get a hold of an OBGYN that knows what's going on. I have finally been diagnosed with Post Tubal Ligation Ablation Syndrome! There is a such thing out there, Google it and you can read up on it. Sadly along with my failed ablation and the disaster from the tubal I am facing a total hysterectomy including the removal of my right ovary, both fallopian tubes and cervix. I am going to take my pathology reports and findings from after surgery and go to the FDA with it let alone contact an attorney for the neglect that happened during the NovaSure ablation that left me with a burnt shut cervix!
I had a c-section tubal ligation 7 years ago...between now and 7 years ago I have convinced myself (and I believe all of my doctors) that I am crazy and cannot seem to get rid of the severe pain that comes frequently on the left side of my hip. I have blamed PCOS, tests ruled it out, I have thought that I must have broke my hip or have severe arthritis, tests ruled it out..... I am reading these posts and am shocked to hear how many women are having problems like mine. I just had x-rays and an MRI done to try to solve the problem...the only thing that showed up on the pictures were the clips that were put in during my tubal....I didn't even know I had clips in my abdomen! The doctors called me a couple times asking why I didn't mention the foreign objects in my abdomen, again, I had no idea what they were referring to. I now think that it HAS to be the clips that are the causing the pain. I don't know who to turn to now! My doctors don't seem to have a clue about any of it. The pain definitely gets worse around my period and during ovulation. If anyone knows of how I can fix this please share, it feels like I will live with this forever if someone doesn't figure out what is going on.
Ask your doctor that put the clips in to remove them......mine did the second tubal for free but I still had to pay the hospital billing since they are not one and the same. Worth asking.
i too have had a tubal in 1991 and i have gained weight.. i have bled for 8 weeks straight it started in january ..then a couple months later spot alittle and then nothing..have brown discharge sometimes..urinate frequent and i can't seem to lose weight ..i have put on 50 plus pounds and depressed on top of it. Lack of energy..what is wrong with me .?
im having the same problems i had my tubal in may 2009 since then horrible period pains in back, lower stomach on both side and awful mood swings, very uncomfortable during intercourse all the time. my doctor is running all kinds of test, i have had a number of ultrasounds but nothing so far, everything looks normal, now he wants to cut me and look inside, also saying he is gonna see about reversing my tubal, i know thats the problem i never had pain like this before. I'm 25 years old and have 3 beautiful kids, I don't want to live the rest of my life with this kind of pain.
This is so crazy. I am having majority of the symptoms as you all. I had my tubal in 2004 but i didnt start having the pain until 2010. The pain is getting worse. I have been to the doctor and they all say the same thing. Anyone i know i tell them not to get a tubal. I would rather have a baby than go through this pain. My pain lasts maybe two to three weeks in the month and it is my right side down to my knee. For 3 yrs i have been taking pain pills daily and it is scary. I have found another doctor and i hope that she can help me.
This has been very helpfull that I'm not alone! I have seen 2 Drs. and both have suggested that a historectomy is the best plan for me. I am 37 years old and I really do not want to do that! I only have one ovary on the right side and that where the pain is. I am very tempted to try a holistic route.
I am 37 and recieved my tubal in 05..the last year they stopped doing them. About six weeks after it was performed I started to expierence hormonal hell like I had never been through. I had horibile cramps and hot flashes. Every time I went to the Dr I was certian theys find a huge cyst or somthing. The only thing they noted is extra redness in my vulva area. A few months later I came down with a bacterial infection. (wich I never had before.) It was more than the typical bacterial infections that they described on the internet. I had a fever..felt weak and really wasnt sure why this was happening to me. I was married and there was no question of infedility. None the less I was tested over and over again for the typical S.T.Ds. This caused great stress in my marriage and when they came back negative I was left to pay the heafty cost that my insurance did not cover. After this my cramps and exterme pain lasted 2 weeks before my period when ovulation would occur. I was having alot of runny stool and just KNEW it was because my uterus was decombusting. Be cause I worked such long hours on my feet styling hair I thankfully had percocet 10s to ease the pain..and I found that this also lightned up my periods. As my addiction grew I realised that I was ready to get a hysterectomy. It took my insurance a whole year to approve it. During this year I had such terrible panick attacks..mental and mental breakdowns. I could only liken the hormonal episodes to being on a bad acid trip for a week. Finally I convenced a surgeon to do a partial hysterectomy. Leaving my cervix, ovaries and who knows why but the tubes as well. For a year I was fine. I was able to expierence life again. Got off the painkillers and felt more level headed in a long time. Then I had another bacterial infection. Lost 50 lbs and kept a fever. The obs would deny anything was wrong but my P.C.P saw the fevers and prescribed me a course of two different anti-biotics for the 6 months it took to remove my cervix and my right ovary. Only because an infectious cyst had formed on my right ovary. After the bio-opsy the surgeon was shocked to report that I DID have an internal bacterial infection and couldnt believe it because he hadnt seen anything like it before. 4 years later..(one yr ago) I began to feel as if I was ovulating. I went to the same PCP and he checked my horemone levels wich proved to be fine. The symptoms of the bacteria returned but not from my vaginal opening but from the area above it. So did the fevers and even worse stomach stopped accepting food. I have been on a liquid diet over the past several weeks and have lost 30 lbs. The worst of it all is that my old OB retired and moved away. The OB I am seeing now will not recognize the problem to be in my remaining ovary because the ct scan looked fine. Same thing all over again. I am seeing a G.I dr who wants me to go to a disease specialist. I have been tested for everything in the book. No recent horemone levels were checked but my white blood cell count is normal! My bowels have stopped working and I have a fever and extremely swollen glands in my groin and have losty 30lbs in a month. Anti biotics work somewhat..never eradicating it but alowing the mystery bacteria to subside untill I stop taking them. I am very scared. I am a Mom of three healthy kids and NEVER had any of these problems untill I had my Tubal. I searched this subject tonight because It has only just dawned upon me that it was getting my tubes tied that started this whole cascade. Just wanted to share how bad it got for me. I go back to the GI monday and my PCP Tuesday. I will not be going to my new OB because she treated me like I was stupid. I do believe I am on to somthing.

I too had a tubal ligation about 8yrs ago. I had heavy periods since then. Last March I had ablation done, because my left side was hurting nonstop. She did an exploratory and told me I had Adenomyosis. She also said my left tube was full of fluid and trying to reconnect. Ever since my surgery my left side is still hurting. Now it is wrapping around my hip bone and my sciatic nerve is flaring up. I keep having shooting pains down my left leg. I got another opinion, and this doctor says I have alot of scar tissue. (The first doc said she removed scar tissue as well.) This one is reccommending a hysterectomy. I just hope that takes care of all this pain I am experiencing.
