I have suffered very painful sex for over a year and a half now, afterwards my stomach really hurts and it usually caused me to be constipated for severe days after too, occasionally I show spots of blood afterwards but not always and never heavy like a period. I am 44 yrs old, after a bad experience during a smear test many years ago I eventually plucked up the courage to have one done last year.. The nurse found it very difficult to reach the part of my virgina that she needed to get to but after a painful fifteen minutes she managed to take the smear, in the process she noticed a pollop. My smear test came back and all was well, but because of my family history with cervical cancer my GP thought it best that she send me to hospital to have the pollop checked out. This is where the fun and games start! At hospital I was prodded and poked by two female doctors with three nurses attending the ceremony for around an hour and ten minutes using every kind of smear tool they could get hold of to get to the pollop, I was then taken to the maternity ward and strapped up to enable them better access, when they came to the conclusion there was no pollop there. I was told to wait several months and see if my symptoms changed and if not come back for a hysteroscopy, so several months later I had this procedure, the outcome was no pollops or fibroids, several biopsies were taken and all came back clear. Several weeks later I attended a follow up appointment regarding the findings of this. I met a different Gyno surgeon who couldn’t understand why I had this operation when when no pollops where found under the smear investigation and my symptoms were not really that of polyps. He thought my symptoms were very much like that of Endometriosis and booked me in two weeks later for a laparoscopy procedure. So here I am the day after having a laparoscopy and the results were they could not see any signs of Endo, However he does not want to rule it out as he said I could have deep rooted Endo that grows inside the womb wall, I hope this makes sense as I The medical term was explained to me, but at the time I was away with the fairies on those wonderful drugs they give you for the operation. The gynaecologist explained that there could be several factors, one that, they may not be clever enough to find out what it is , which I found very admirable of him to say. Two, there’s a slim chance of it being Irritable Bowel, or three if not Endometriosis than it could be a problem with some other organs. He explained that with this other kind of Endo unfortunately it can only be seen when the womb has been removed and goes under the knife. So the only other option was to go on a course of Decapeptyl for four months to see if my symptoms resist, If they cease than this is an indication that it is hormonal and is likely to be Endometriosis, If not than I need to go back to my GP and have them investigate the problem in other areas. I decided to go on the four month course of Decapeptyl although I don’t like what this drug does to your body. I don’t think I have IBS as my problem only occurs during and after sex, my periods are always regular too. I would appreciate any advice you can offer as this is really staring to affect me mentally and physically with the pain and I have deep concerns that it may have detrimental effect on my family life with my husband too.

I am sorry to hear that things are going badly for you right now but I think that the experimental drug you're on right now shows some promise. Can you let us know how that turns out for you? I think it might offer some insight for you.
