My husband has developed severe eye infection. He feels eye irritation, has decreased vision and sensation of foreign body. It seems to me more serious that common conjunctivitis. He spends a lot of time outdoors because of his job. Can it be pterigium? I’ve heard that it can have same symptoms as conjunctivitis but later lead to severe complications.
Pterigium is a growth of tissue in eye. It’s visible change on cornea. I had small pterigium 5 years ago. I spent few years in Africa because of my job and there was exposed to sun a lot. Fortunately, anti-inflammatory eye drops, decongestants and artificial tears seemed to be helpful in treatment of pterigium. But you should take your husband at the doctor’s as soon as possible
