Hi,

Now that I am 46, I find that I have aged increasingly quickly and have developed more severe wrinkles even over the last six months or so. Stress hasn't helped either. If I were to be interested in "restoring" some of my "youth" (:)), then I gather fillers of some kind would be a very good option. I have heard that hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm perhaps) is the best choice since it is natural, or already in the body. My question is if you have had hyaluronic acid fillers, were you completely satisfied with the result? Was there any hint of fakeness about the results, because I don't want that? Also, over time, can a hyaluronic acid serum achieve the same result as fillers or is that a pipe dream?

Joan

Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most popular wrinkle fillers on the market today. There are many kinds and they all work in different ways, something you have to inquire about when you first get them. They can last from a few months to a few years depending on the type and placement. Because hyaluronic acid fillers do stimulate your body's own collagen production as well, you may need less frequent fillers with time. Quite impressive! Bruising, swelling, redness and even some bumps under the skin are to be expected after you just get a filler. Inquire about this in advance as well.

Serums are good but never achieve the same results as fillers.

Beware. I'm in the UK where things like this ain't as well regulated as they are in the US and some other places, and for instance I see them advertised even at hairdresser's sometimes, which I think is of questionable legality, no? Even here? Anyways I did some searching and hyaluronic acid fillers, though they got less potential to make you look like a rubber maid, LOL, still have potential side effects. One lady in the Daily Mail was talking about her provider hitting a vein while injecting it. Another mentioned terrible burning sensations. More talk about completely ruined looks... These things can work out nicely or they can be a disaster. Picking a reputable clinic is a must if you do go ahead but even so, yeah, make sure to ask about potential complications in detail...

If you read treatment reviews written by plastic surgeons, you will see that many plastic surgeons greatly prefer hyaluronic acid wrinkle fillers over other types, because HA which is a natural component of human skin, offers very natural results and has less risks than some other types. However, yes, you want to see someone for a consult because you didn't mention which wrinkles you want dealt with and different types are better for different wrinkles/different parts of your face. Choose a reputable clinic where they work to the highest standard and you will be fine. Plastic surgeons depend on their treatments working out well too!

Hyaluronic acid fillers are among the most popular soft tissue fillers on the market today, and with reason. HA fillers are easy to use for the provider, offer durable results that look more natural than botox, which is still the most used type of wrinkle treatment, and offer a quick recovery period with a low risk of adverse effects. If there's any such thing as an ideal soft tissue filler, it is hyaluronic acid for sure. There are many different types around. Prices go from around $600.

I had Juverderm injections a few months ago. It has worked as promised: my skin looks healthier as well as plumper with severely reduced wrinkles. I am happy with the results! People keep commenting on my looks as well. I got it on vacation and apparently the "vacation" has really refreshed me and made me look better! Hahaha. The aftercare was minimal with effects being obvious right away. Juvederm is already known as the "future is now" type of filler so if you're going for anything like that, I say Juvederm is the right choice for you.

Hyaluronic acid fillers, and they come under many, many brand names, are great. Because hyaluronic acid is body identical and you are essentially just replacing what the body lost with age in order to look younger again, unlike other dermal fillers, there is no need to worry about allergies or other adverse reactions. Hyaluronic acid fillers are great for forehead lines, wrinkles between the eyebrows, Marionette lines near the mouth, and basically all other wrinkles as well as having the potential to clear up minor scarring as well.

If you're not ready for dermal fillers quite yet, you might also like to look into a hyaluronic acid serum to encourage anti-aging from the outside in rather than the other way around.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are juvederm, restylane, and belotero, among many other ones. Providing that they are administered by reputable/board certified practitioners, hyaluronic acid fillers can definitely work very well. They reduce hollowness of the skin, in the cheek area for instance, and puff wrinkles out. They can also be used to eliminate the appearance of more superficial scars by filling them out. The end result is very natural but you do need to have the right provider.
