Question about implantation bleeding

Hi Everybody!

Ok, I have a question? I was suppose to start my period 3 days ago and I didn't. I am however bleeding, but not alot. What I am bleeding is very light in color oneday and then dark the next. I also only noticed the blood when I go to the bathroom. Usually when I do get my period it's a very heavy flow, but this time it wasn't and it was very light and not even enough to fill a panty liner (which I would usually do with my normal period).

I also noticed that what I did bleed didn't smell or look like my normal period (we all know how they stink) And this bleeding also didn't go from light to heavy and then light again.

So here is my question to all of you. Could it be Implantation bleeding? I have never heard of this before and have been reading up on it like crazy! I have got alot of usefull information on the net, but nothing to tell me what I really want to know, so I have put together some question's below in hopes someone can help me..

1) How long does Implantation bleeding last?

2) How long should I wait before I do a pregnancy test?

3) Is Implantation bleeding a common thing in women during pregnancy ?

4) And this is the major question? When Implantation bleeding occurs do you actually bleed or do you just spot? The reason I ask is because I am not spotting I am bleeding, but not alot. I think I did bleed enough to fill a tablespoon.

Thanks to anybody that can answer these question's for me.. Just so you all know, I am a 38 year old women who has never had a child, so needless to say this is a new experience for me and I can use all the help I can get.. :-)
