I am 44 years old. I have always had very heavy periods that lasted 6-7 days since I started menstruating at the age of 12.  I had a tubal ligation done in 1992 after my second child was born.  My periods really went into overdrive after my tubal ligation and I was bleedling every couple of weeks for at least 10 days (one period lasted 17 days).  After several trips to the doctor and trying different forms of birth control pills, my periods finally went into a normal monthly cycle.  I eventually stopped the hormone therapy after 1-1/2 years and my periods returned to the usual heavy period for 6-7 days per month.

In the past few years, I've been experiencing some perimenopausal symptoms that included an extended period.  My periods have started jumping up to 10-13 days per month.  So I opted to have the Novasure Ablation done on October 26,2012.  I didn't experience a great deal of discomfort afterward (some cramping) and for the first week, very light discharge.  The discharge increased the second week and has ebbed & flowed ever since.  Last Thursday, I started what I believe is my period because blood is bright red and heavier again (though no where near the heaviness of my usual periods).  I was able to use ultra thin pads for heavy days with no leakage.  A first for me.

My question to the group at large, is how long did the discharge after your ablation last.  Mine never ended and ran right into my next period.  I am hoping after my period ends, this will be it until next month.  I have been wearing pads for 5+ weeks and getting sick of it.

Im 44 and had the ablation on december 4, 2012 and it is now january 16, 2013. Im 5 weeks out and I too have light discharge everyday. I also had my period on january 7, as it was heavier (not as heavy as normal or before ablation). I to have been wearing pads for 5+ weeks and also sick of it. When does this end or should i go back to the doctor?

I had a novasure ablation and D&C for removal of two polyps (one quite large) eight weeks ago.  I am still discharging, and it is getting heavier!  The discharge is mostly watery and clear, with no odor.

After the surgery I had almost no cramping, except the day before my first "period" which lasted about 1/2 a day and was bad enough to need to lie down.  My discharge was light - panty-liners only - and was mixed clear/yellow/blood.  My first period was 3 days of brown spot bleeding.  My second period was 3 weeks of spot bleeding mixed with watery discharge, which was disappointing.  Then a couple days after that ended, the watery discharged suddenly (at work) became very heavy and I overflowed a pantyliner.  Fortunately it was clear and no one noticed.  But now I've needed to wear full maxipads each day for the past week.

HERE IS MY QUESTION:  Anyone else have discharge for months after either a D&C or novasure, or both?  Did it go away eventually????

Dr.'s office said to call back in a week if it doesn't stop.  Perhaps my discharge is lasting so long b/c I had such a large polyp, I'm guessing.

About me:  I'm 36, never been pregnant, and have had no other procedures done to my uterus.

I'm 38 and had the womb ablation on 12.02.13 the reason I had it done was because I have heavy but regular periods my problem was years of anemia on and off. The procedure went well, no other complications of cysts polpys etch and I was told to expect watery discharge for 4 weeks I am week 3 and the odour and the watery discharge bothers me I am worried it is never going to disappear after reading some of the ladies posts....please can anyone enlighten me ? my side effect also have been bloatedness and backache, I am a little moody but I think it is down to fed up of wearing big knickers and pads and just feeling not very feminine! It would be lovely to hear that this odour and discharge will stop......

I had Novasure & Tubal Ligation done on the 19th Feb 2013 - although I found the day after surgery very painful the fact I'm 4 weeks post op & still needing to wear liners is frustrating. I was not aware this would happen. When I change the liner it does have strong almost sharp smell... I too cannot wait to not have to wear a liner (it's heavy enough that I'm afraid the leakage would be obvious without the liner)

I just had hysteroscopy, D&C, Novasure, and tubal ligation yesterday.  I was under general anesthesia and woke up in tremendous pain.  It was more than I expected.  The nurses were quick to give me more pain medication.  I thought the surgery center sent me home before i was fully awake.  i couldn't even stand on my own.  Every bump in the road, brake of the car was painful.   When I got home I realized the pain was mostly due to needing to urinate.  i tried, but couldn't, and being unable to do so for several hours, I almost made my husband call the doctor back. Once I was able to go, even a little, i began to feel better.  Going to the bathroom I found I difficult most of the day.  When I had to go, I was immediately in pain again, but relieved once I did.  Other than that, my pain was manageable for the most part.  Motrin actually seemed more helpful that the Vicodin.

Also, the solution used during the novasure burned my vagina for several hours after the procedure.  A cold wash cloth and ice packs against my vagina and stomach was very helpful.  After 3-4 hours it was no longer needed.

Now I feel ok for the most part.  I have a sore throat, which I am told is common.  I am thirsty, tired and tender.  I don't have the gassy, bloated stomach from the tubal like I expected.   I definitely needed someone with me all day yesterday.  Thankful my husband was so good and never left my side.

August 29 2013 is when I had Hystercopy,D&C and(Novasure)  Ablation. 4 days ago. So far so good. Absolutely no cramping whatsoever! Not even right after. I am experiencing light pinkish and yellowish discharge so far-for the whole 4 days so far.Did not take any pain meds....Doctor said my uterus was very very clean (no endometriosus no polyps). Prior to ablation I was having a period every 2/3 weeks for about a year. I really do think it matters if your doctor is experienced or not. My doctor is extremely skilled and has been in business for more than 35 years. I trust him as he has been my only GYN since I was 16 and I am now 43. ( I've had 4 kids-all naturally). I can atest to having to urinate alot and abrubtly tho........not sure why that is...maybe the anethesia?

Praying I never have another period again!!!!

I had mine done a week ago under GA and woke up to severe cramping like contractions, with a similar rhythm.  The pain completely went after a day and a lot of drugs from the hospital.  My discharge varies from gloopy yellowy brown to being a bit blood stained; usually after exercise.  I feel like my system has slowed down as my bowels can be difficult to empty and i feel bloated quite often.  The up side to this is that i used to suffer from a weak bladder, but due to my slowed down system that has all but gone which is pleasing.  My question to the group is how much exercise is recommended at this stage and are the tight feelings in my womb a sign that i have done too much or is it good to get the blood flowing round my body to flush any left over gloop out?

I had the novasure procedure done as well as a D&C and the leep procedure done on November22nd, the day of outpatient surgery I had really bad pain in my back on the lower left side almost like sciatic pain, so I'm thinking that is from the position I was placed in while under local .  I took two tyenol at the hospital came home and took a two hour nap as was good as new.  I had minor cramping the following two days with very light discharge.  Day three postoperative the discharge became heavier and pinker.  I am ten days postoperative today and I constantly feel the need to urinate.  My appointment is tomorrow so I will bring that up then, otherwise everything has gone pretty much better then I expected.  I was informed by my ob-gyn that because I had a tubal years ago I could end up needing a full hysterectomy if the lining got stuck around the tubal but that didn't happen

Looks like i had the same thing as yours. They found out polyps on my uterus when I got my Saline Infusion procedure as xtray was not enaugh to narrow down why I am spotting for over 2 mnths, not really heavy but of course things that need to be worried about. My incoming diagnostic is hysteroscopy w/ D & C, Novasure Endometual Ablation (no need to have a baby so my Dr. suggested me to undergo the procedure) on Nov 18, 2014. Prior to incoming surgery my Dr. Prescribed me medroxyprogesterone 10 mg 1x aday. I got really worried as I bleed with large clot a lot for about 5 days. I had bad cramps but ibuprofen calm me down. Btw,cant take ibuprofen 2 weeks prior the surgery. My blotted tummy got thinner. Now I am waiting for my procedure (bleeding not to much & no cramps anymore). Reading scary post here make me cancelled Novasure procedure but it is really nice to know as well that some shared the good come out. I will tell my story here as well after my procedure.

Thank you this is the first time I seen a real explaination, most of the post would say, 5 years after the ablation they would have to have a hysterectomy. And give all kind of horror story's of why. Like: (My other organs were fused together when I had novasure.) I agree the doctor need to explain this better

Thank you for this post. I am having the procedure this Friday 2/13/15. I had my tubes cauterized in 2008 after my C-section with 3rd child. I am hoping all goes well. I will definitely post my experience after.
