Omg, now it happen to me at 7am, in a dream wich started next to the sea, and ended in the bathroom in the shower, when I was really bursting for it, and after few seconds wakeup realising I actually pee myself. I'm 26 years old, male, in a perfect health condition. I can only blame the dream because was very intense and real, I can remember everything from it, lol.

To both of you! Most bed wetters have a problem with VERY deep sleep! And a week bladder muscles! It's not that the dream is making you urinate it is the body telling you to get up and go to the bathroom but you are SO into sleep that it turns into a dream and you ONLY become conscious of it when you have already started urinating! So here is what you need to do! Do NOT drink ANYTHING after 6 pm! Urinate 1 hour before bedtime, then go again right before - even if you don't want to - force your bladder to enter (by using your urinary tract muscles to expel any remaining urine) after you have urinated, still wait on the toilet for about 5 more minutes - most people don't know that there is still urine left in your bladder after an initial toilet session! So wait and then expel that! Before you go to sleep, tell yourself this "The MOMENT I start dreaming I am going to the toilet I WILL wake up" It is a TOTAL subconscious lesson you will have to do to tell your subconcious to NOT go with the dream, but to REALLY wake you up! There are medications BUT they dry you out like no ones business! Also do Kiegles exercises - the muscles you use to stop urinating! Using the same muscles, hold for 10 seconds and release you can do that ALL the time and get your pelvic muscles stronger and stronger - which will help you hold it longer!

VERY deep sleep is NOT a problem...I dream the dream at least once a week but don't always wake up wet, I have even dreamt of having a bowel movement, BUT I've never sh*t the bed!. I know I'm dreaming and still make the choice to use the bathroom in my dream but not because of an overwhelming feeling to go. If I wake up and haven't wet the bed 9 times outta 10 I don't produce more than but a tinkle when I go to the bathroom. While dreaming I have to push really hard like I'm peeing past a plug to urinate and it more than likely is making a hella mess in the dream like getting me wet or not making it into the toilet, I don't usually recognize the bathroom either it only "feels familiar" and the toilet more often than not appears futuristic or just different (like how you sit on it). I'm 32 and I have had these dreams since I can remember. IT DOESN'T MATTER if I drink 2 seconds before bed or nothing all day or pee right before bed wait and pee more in 5 mins. The dream comes when it wants NO MATTER WHAT!!! Due to having such vivid dreams I have even second guessed myself during the day as to wether or not I'm dreaming when I go to the bathroom do to experiencing that "familiar feel" and stop mid stream to check if my pants are wet even though I'm looking at them around my ankles.
2 yrs ago within hours of giving birth to my 2nd child, my urinary system went haywire. I literally became pregnant with my bladder which filled to over 2,000 cc in just a few hours and no matter how hard I tried I couldnt pee (where was the dream when I needed it) and I have never experienced urgency or pain like that. When the nurses did a bladder scan on me the readings were so unbelievable they sent for a new machine. I couldn't hardly hold still doing the potty dance lying on my back while they rushed to cath me and drain my bladder. AND it didn't stop there, I continued to produce urine at an alarming rate filling my bladder as fast as they could empty it. I lost 40 lbs in 3 days and only 10 of it was baby. I was sent home wearing a catheter and plagued with the idea that my urinary system was shot. One week later and a regimen of drugs the catheter came out and I pee'd on my own!!! Moral of my story is... Our bladders are NOT week thats not why we piss the bed...

I didnt come to this forum for answers as to WHY I do what I do, I came here to share my experiences and to read other peoples experiences and laugh or cry with them about our uniqueness. Bed wetting for ANY ONE is humiliating wether it is "caused" by laziness, illness, deep sleep, or whatever the reason may be. Your not alone obviously or a FREAK! Godspeed.
For those of you that are commenting on this topic and have NOTHING constructive to type... my thoughts are this... You either have too much time on your hands because your inept and perhaps unable to hold down a job, wouldn't surprise me after reading your posts or you are just a child making juvenile comments because you lack life experience.

WOW!!!! OK! 1st of all I have been a "counsellor" on here for well over a year and a 1/2 and was thinking people were asking for tips! In NO way was I making it sound like it was an easy problem to fix, I gave several ideas! I have had a problem with my own bladder since my 1st baby! And what I am sharing is my OWN experiences or things I have learnt from others or professionals! And Some peoples bladders ARE weak - usually from trauma - and THAT is why they pee the bed, also some sleep too deep and don't know the difference - and wouldn't wake up even if a thunderstorm was happening! And MANY people have weak pelvic floor muscles - thus the mention of the Keagles exercises! NOT ONE BEDWETTER IS A FREAK! IT is a TERRIBLE Embarrassing event in a lot of peoples lives - either while sleeping or even sneezing, coughing, driving over bumps etc etc etc! Sometimes there are medical reasons why, and sometimes it's just irritation or infection! You are obviously VERY sensitive about this, and I TOTALLY understand! It is a mortifying thing at a certain age in your life you have to worry about soiling the bed or soiling your underwear and having to check each store where the toilet it at ALL times! I was giving suggestions THAT'S ALL! I Wasn't making Juvenile comments, and have PLENTY of life experience to cover MANY topics! Your bowel uses FAR more muscles and more concentration, then going to the bathroom to urinate! So I guess this is why we don't poop but yet seem to have an easier time - to some degree - with urinating! I don't know if you're response was pointed at me or not! BUT I wanted to explain MY answers! Can't talk for the others!

Bambi you are as sensitive about being a pseudo counselor javascript:emoticon(':$');as she is about wetting the bed. Perhaps you should take the time to gather data from these posts and ask questions... try to figure out what these people have in common (besides the dream) before you start giving them ideas or advice on what to do or telling them what could be wrong, IF you really want to help them. I think you should re read the post you are responding to, I didn't get the impression she was calling ANY of your comments juvenile. Perhaps not enough life experience to know that txt can be easily misinterpreted.

I don't think anyone did anything wrong and I think everyone is interpreting things differently. This site is geared towards sharing experiences and helping others. And I think Guest and Bambi did just that, they shared their experiences and what has or has not worked for them in hopes through sharing their experiences, it may help someone else. And its up to others to either take it or leave it. And even if one person did not find the information given helpful, someone else reading this post may. I think everyone just kind of took things the wrong way. Bambi had the right intentions, so although it may not have been what you were looking for Guest, she was genuine with her response, as were you in sharing your experience with others to know your not alone and neither are the rest of people on this forum. But it is what it is, everyone is different and perceives things differently. As I have with this. So lets everyone just move on and continue to share our life experiences and not attack one another for no real wrongdoing.

Hi Folks,
I'm a 52 yr old male plagued with bedwetting off and on all my life.I find it interesting that other people have the bathroom dream also.
I often have the dream of having to pee badly and being in public ,not being able to get to a bathroom and finally getting to a bathroom and relieving myself and thinking how great it feels to finally pee.Well, usually I wake to find i wet the bed some, maybe not completely yet as I wake sometimes as I am just starting to go.Other times i wet completely and remember the dream and actually seem to remmber the feel of the warm pee in the bed,but must be subconciously remembering? I wear a Tena super adult diaper at night but still have leaks sometimes.I wet the bed in small amounts as a child, not soaking the bed as I usually woke just as starting to wet.I hid it growing up and usually laid pajamas in a manner they could dry thorugh the day.I don't take the chance of sleeping without protection now.I can go several nights and be dry and then have several nights in a row that I am wet.I purchase the Tenas online now and have them delivered in plain brown boxes.I am open to discussing my life as a bedwetter with others as I am learning there are more of us out there than the media will ever report.Seems to be taboo to discuss this problem openly in this country. So,i am glad to find this website to corespond with others with the same problem.Bedwetting does run in my family, but have only learned this as an adult.
Readers ,feel free to contact me if you have same problems or have questions on dealing with this in your life.I am lucky to have a good wife that accepts me as I am,but I know not all people are that lucky.
You all take care and remember you are not alone.

I am a married Mom of 2 and I wet the bed alot as a child. These bathroom dreams are pretty constant for me. It gets to the point where I know it's a dream well before anything happens. And the dreams are always about really big bathrooms with many toilets and no walls to close them off. I guess having real bad memories about bedwetting as a child has transferred into my dreams. I can usually stop before I do anything more than dribble a little, but the last time was a full bladder release. Man, was I embarrassed. It was bad enough I was shamed by it as a child but to have that in bed with your husband is ridiculous. The weird thing about the last episode is that I wasn't dreaming about urinating... I was doing something for menstruation... which I have never dreamed about before. It was creapy. I am so glad to hear that this dream thing is a common occurrence with some people and that I'm not crazy or alone. I just wish I knew if this was going to get worse with age? Geesh, I'm only 36. Will I be wearing diapers to bed soon? If I have to special underwear, I will.
If you know if this will get worse, could you email me and let me know? Thank you.

I've been thinking about all of you and the dream thing! And I am just wondering if hypnosis would help all of you? Or say biofeedback, and self talk etc.? Just wondering IF any of you have tried any sort of hypnosis!?

To married mom of 2-
I suggest wearing an adult diaper at night for nothing more than the comfort of knowing that you won't soak the bed if you have an episode. If you experince leaks, wear plastic underwear over them.It helps me rest better. The Tena supers are nice and quiet(no plastic rustling noise) for discreet use around family members. You can purchase these items online and most ship in plain brown boxes.I can say- try not to worry too much about your problem as that may worsen the problem.Wear protection and that may help you relax.Seems to help me.I know if I don't wear protection,I have trouble sleeping, can't relax ,worrying about wetting the bed.Hopefully you have an understanding husband.
Over the years I have tried the limiting of fluid intake in the evenings to find not much difference.
I have always been a deep sleeper, that seems to be the link with the dreams as I have found in research in the past.
I can sleep through thunderstorms that people at work mention woke them overnight,I just chuckle and say-What storm??
Anyway, hope some of this helps you.
Take care.

In reply to bambi's posting on hypnosis-
I too would be interested in knowing if there are any cases where this has helped.
Bedwetting is such a sensitive subject,is anyone willing to try hypnosis?
I have tried allot of things over the years, but at 52,still have the same problem.
