Hi there,

I wonder if someone could please help with this...

Basically for a while now I've noticed these small red dots inside my cheek that appear and disappear sometimes. There are times when I don't have them and sometimes they just appear out of nowhere.

On two occasions I've had a red blothcy like rash also appear on one side of my inside cheek. The rash isn't sore but it's red and does look as if it would be painful. When I get this rash the skin inside the cheek that it's on feels rough (almost like sandpaper) and my throat feels strange (kind of dry).

Hi forsaken08188179
I have been suffering from this for more than two years.i have changed my doctors and specialists as well. I ended up being diagnosed with Crohn's disease and many other factors ofcourse. In your case u seem to have the same problem that i had of severe acidity.and unfortunately in our case we dont feel this acidity. All i feel is this itchy throat and these red spots on the inside of the cheek.Get your gastirin level checked. Also my doctor has put me on a very high dose of Nexium to keep my acids down.as long as i keep taking nexium these spots dont come back . When i stop taking them they start to reappear again.Add yogurt in your diet after meals.Start taking probiotics 1 tablet a day .(try getting 8 strains and bacteria) and ask your doctor if you can be on Nexium for acidity. If your doctor does not put you on nexium try anything over the counter like Gaviscon which gives an immediate relief.Or just to test it start taking gaviscon and you 'll immediately see the difference in your throat.Start observing more closely and you'll notice that you get this funny feeling in your throat only when u are tired or sleepless,or after having oily food as this is when acids start to buildup.Changes in the diet would help.my family doctors have been putting me on antibiotics for this itchy throat but all i had was severe acidity.Do you feel constipated?..... Hope it will help.:)

I live in the Tampa Bay area and now have the same 'rash' inside my left cheek. The area was smaller 2-3 days ago but now it has spread up towards my upper lip and back a bit towards the back of my mouth.

Hello, I recently started having the same symptoms you described a few days ago. I have been going crazy looking for pictures related to what the inside of my cheeks look like and have yet to find one. I don't have any sores at all. Lately my mouth has been dry and parts of my inner cheeks feel rough. I'm a bit scared as to what it could be. All I read online is cancer and it obviously freaks me out. Anyone have pictures so I could see if it looks like mine?

I was one of the commenters on this thread from a couple years back. I haven't had the roughness in my mouth since then, but I do have to be extremely careful with and even avoid some acidic foods like pineapple and foods containing vinegar. If I eat them, it's like the lining of my inner cheek starts peeling away and I get small cuts all in my mouth.

Recently, I developed vitiligo on my FACE. A large patch of skin including my cheek, eyelashes and eyebrow have lost their pigmentation. I'm a 27 year old female.

I've had blood tests and everything has come back fine. I'm not sure if there's any relation between the mouth problem and the vitiligo but I was wondering if it could be some autoimmune thing causing it all.

Please reply if you've had a similar experience or any knowledge about this!

I have the same thing. And my doctor looked at it yesterday and didn't think it was strep ... just an irritated mouth. So after reading the posts here, I realized that I had also been using Crest Pro Health MOUTHWASH!! I stopped using it after I got this rash. So I got an idea that is really working. I got up this morning and put some peroxide in about a half cup of water ... probably a tablespoon of peroxide. I gargled and swished it in my mouth. It is already feeling much much better and I think the rash is going away. I took an antihistimine last night also. I am going continue this for a few days and see what happens.

My dentist says mine is from nighttime teeth grinding or biting...I need a mouth guard. Hope you figured it out!

Seems like we all have the same issue and NO doctors or dentists or pathologists can figure out what it is. I noticed in early Feb 2017 that I had some strange lines inside my mouth that felt rough/tiny bumpy to the tongue. About a week later I noticed more so I peeked inside and saw two red circles about the size of dimes. They have since grown in size and are now larger than quarters and a new small one is developing on the other side of my mouth (now late March 2017). I have seen my dermatologist twice and had a biopsy that came back as "benign growth" which is frustrating because it resembles more of an ulcer than a growth, but like many of you noted, it isn't painful. I have seen my dentist who contacted his pathologist and neither of them know what it is and suggested "aphthous ulcers" but I highly doubt it because I've had canker sores and small ulcers before and these do not feel painful at all. My friend is an attending physician practicing emergency medicine and he also thinks it's nothing and said it looks like aphthous ulcers. I am an environmental engineer with slight background in microbiology and it looks more to me like a bacterial or fungal infection; as it slightly resembles ringworm, although ringworm cannot occur inside the mouth on the oral mucosa. I do not drink much, maybe 1-2 drinks every other week, don't smoke, and don't take any pills or medications aside from Vitamins C and D. I recently saw a gastroenterologist to be tested for celiac, although my result indicated I do not have celiac disease, so I have a non-celiac intolerance. I plan to do a FODMAP elimination diet to identify what foods may be the culprit. I have heard that some people with gluten intolerance can have mouth sores, so it's a possibility that the foods we ingest may be causing this? Like some of you have stated you think it's an allergy, it may be a food allergy. I rotate toothpastes: Crest 3D white, Colgate Optic white, and Colgate Total, but been using these for years and never had an issue before. I will try the diet, changing to an all natural toothpaste and update if any changes occur. I, like many of you, need to know what this is.

We have a vacation place in Northeast FL that my husband visits. He just went to the dentist and they have never seen what you are describing. He has it on the cheeks in his mouth as well. We use Crest Pro health. Dentist told us to keep an eye on it to see if it goes away. He has also had slight cold/scratchy voice since he coaches football and yells a lot.

I also thought about ringworm when my husband showed me as well! I will just be hoping it goes away for him. I don't have it so not contagious.

The dentist has never seen this. He was the one who noticed it.

My husbadn wears a mouthpiece for snoring and was not wearing it since I was away. Dentist thought he might be grinding his teeth and causing inner cheek irritation.

I have the same reaction to the Credt Pro Health and also another brand advanced type toothpaste. I use it several days and then I get the sand papery feeling inside cheeks and tongue. I stopped using it but now am getting occasional sandpaper rash with redness on inside cheeks and I can't figure why or what it is as I haven changed toothpaste or anything.
