I'm the one that smoked for 4 years and made the comment above this one. I just wanted to add something after reading some of the more recent replies.

I really don't seem to be experiencing anything on the level that others are describing. I never really smoked that high of a quantity though, only about 3.5 grams every 1-2 weeks. My "withdraw" symptoms were minimal, and honestly I will probably start smoking marijuana again after a couple month's break, albeit not every day.

Marijuana is definitely okay in moderation. I would argue it is as okay in moderation as alcohol. Unfortunately, some of us aren't capable of moderation. If you're someone that doesn't have the discipline to smoke only a little and keep your tolerance low, then marijuana probably isn't for you. Likewise, if you're an alcoholic and can't settle for just a few drinks, alcohol isn't for you.

Food for thought.

Hello Guys
I ve been smoking last 16 years on daily basis , i ve tried many times to quit but failed and now i have the success , i would like to share my strategy to whom wants quit , maybe it helps .

In last 6 months , i gave break every month , first month 5 days , second month 6 days , third month 7 days , fourth month 8 days ,five month 9 days and the last month quit suddenly and it works , i haven't felt deep depression or big stress , everyday i m more motivated cause i feel my hormones and brain getting improved and it makes me kinda high in different way , being normal is my new drug :) and dont forget , to smoke weed u can find million reasons , ignore them all , dont give a chance to your brain to manipulate u , be confident .

I feel sore throat and i think i ll loose my voice soon , that's all normal , cause filters in throat working too much thank to detoxing of lungs . Dont give up guys , just kill your addiction to weed and after a year passes why not to smoke weed time to time as an non addictive person .

For how long do I need to wait until weed detoxicate from my body? This is my 13th day of quitting, I was taking it for almost six years. I am losing weight and having backaches as a symptom.

To everyone else : beware ... some people clearly are left with brain damage.

Making fun of someone just because you (say) did it for longer..... is childish.

Most studies say 28 days are enough.

Im not sure about that. Im on day 23.
This time I got some phlegm (i always used a vaporizer) the last 4 or 5 days. I quit because my abuse period ended (decided to abuse it for a year and change), and i started to notice my throath getting really dry. Someone said it, the phlegm might be the body just accustomed to the dry throath and producing excess mucus to combat it (only now its useless).

About dreaming, i always considered myself an avid (lucid) dreamer. Was common to remember 4 or 6 dreams each night.
Under weed influence, i was able to recall 1 or 2 at most. Now that dreams got crazy again, i realize i was missing them so much...
