I used to love running and was good at it. I was unable to run for a year. Now I’m back but I am not sure how to start. I can’t say exactly that I am in a good form. I want to make up for the lost time. Should I start with vigorous workouts and try to get back in form as soon as possible?

I wouldn’t recommend so. Running at top speed or long distances is a definite no-no. You have to take it slowly. Give yourself enough time. If you start aggressively you will end up exhausted and with sore muscles. As for the lost time, don’t worry. Improving your form for the first time takes significantly longer than getting back in form. Invading the new, “uncharted territory” is the hardest thing to do. Returning there after a break is much easier.
