Hi baitlady, I am 17 years old and have been diagnosed with Sherman's disease about a year ago. I totally agree with you that it is frustrating and it's taken me a long time to come to terms with the diagnosis. It has been very emotional and doctors don't seem to understand my pain either! I find it difficult to not understand and come to terms with not being able to do basic sports like running and horse riding I do however do Pilates and that's the only thing I am allowed to do, :(. I went through a stage of going to physio 1-2 times a week. In August I went through a stage my legs also going numb for about 2 weeks it was very scary for me! At that time I was very stressed and I put it up on a forum. Someone that is qualified in NLP and TimeLine Therapy has been helping me emotionally since then. I was apprehensive about it being related to emotions but it seems to be helping!
How is your son now and the numbing of his leg/s?

Hi Sadie,I am 17 and was diagnosed with this about a year ago. I find it very painful and debilitating! In August I went through a stage of having numbing of the legs for about 2 weeks! From time to time the only way to get rid of the pain is to sleep! By any chance do you sometimes feel that you have a big weight on your chest and find it difficult to breathe? I had this last night and I have it this morning but it is not however the first time I have had this!

Hi, my son was also diagnosed with this desease. He is 16.5 yrs old. I was wondering how old was your son when he started wearing the brace, and did it work?

Hi Chrissy,
I just came across this site as my 16 year old son has just been diagnosed with Shuermann's and is now what looks like a Milwaukee brace. Luckily it is summer but is already saying there is no way he can wear this thing to school.....
I would love to chat!
Thank you,
Amber
