I too share this problem, and as I do not have health insurance, I took it into my own hands and was able to clear up some, however the largest two simply refuse to dissapate. It could be that i havent gotten the "seed-like sac" out, but I want to have them surgically removed. Would anyone have any idea as to how much the procedure would cost?

i just went to a hospital or even just local doctor , 2 min job , read my input below

I hate these cyst appear a few years back and they eventually grew to the stage where they could be noticed. They don't hurt but i started to hide them during sex with my partner which was a major issue for me

Tonight i eventually bit the bullet and took on the advice from these postings. I soaked my scrotum so that it was soft, squeezed the cyst to the top of the skin and sunk a small, narrow nail/needle into it. You have to get beyond the skin but if you persevere you will reach the sac and it popped very easily. White cheese-like pus came out and i squeezed it all from the sac. I then cleaned the area and will continue to do that until it heals.

I am so relieved and now i know what to do if this happens again. I feel normal again! and thanks to you all for your stories, made me less embarrassed and happy to share my story as i'm sure more people out there need to get rid of these depressing cysts.

This is a very common problem - 30% of males suffer from it on various levels of severity. I've been told my a leading UK eurologist the following:

There is no cure, period. You can help yourself out by washing more often but this wont prevent them from appearing, and will not remove those that already exist. One can expect the development of such cysts to slow as you age. Removal is possible and should, if done properly, prevent the same cysts from returning. Removal is relatively painless (probably a few days of discomfort, easily managed with painkillers). It is easier to remove the cysts a few at a time (rather than on mass - I wish I had know this before!) to ensure no ongoing discofort, as each cyst removed also requires a small amount of scrotal skin to be removed i.e you cant remove lots and lots as you will run out of 'spare' scrotal skin, your sack will become tight and thus uncomfortable. It is therefore better to get the issue seen early when the cysts first develop (= a smaller amount of skin loss, and when healed the doctor can seen where potential tightening of the skin is happening and perhaps target an alternate cyst in a different location where skin loss is less of an issue.

Though I understand the financial pressures of a surgical procedure, I was very concerned here to read the instances of self diagnosis and removal. Squeezing is probably fine but please, please dont insert pins or try and cut the cysts out DIY style. The risk of infection in doing so is huge, and you really dont want to get an infection in you scrotum. Not only is that very uncomfortable, infections can spread and we are talking about an area very close to your reproductive organs. Best see a specialist. Final comment - above all, dont fret about. I worried for years about this while growing up, resulting in a lack of confidence with the opposite sex. In actually found girls very receptive and and understanding when the issue was explained. No need to be embarrassed. Good luck!

Hi Bunny - I personally wouldnt advise actively bringing it up with him but if he raises it himself you could suggest getting them checked out by a doctor.
Please dont go the self removal route - very high risk of infection in doing so, despite the stories on here. In seeing a doctor you get a quick, relatively painless result and more importantly, accurate info.
Happy to read your response as a female. I found my experience with my girlfriends to be very similar. You girls are much better at this stuff than us guys.

I literally spent maybe about 3 hrs reading through this entire post and I have to say it has brought a tear to my eye. I've been living with this issue for years and honestly thought I was alone in this. I normally don't post in forums but I felt compelled to say something... These cysts has ruined my social life, confidence and sexual life! Been to doctors and I get the same BS you all get "it's normal live with it" dermatologist same c**p, bc of this forum I'm going to make an appoint with an urologist. Now I know there is someone that can help and i don't have to "live with it" TY!

I know how you feel. The most important thing to remember is that cysts are very normal and very common. They are nothing to be embarrassed about though I relate to how this effected you. A Doctor can do something about the ones that exist already, but you do need to accept you cant stop others from growing, and that its nothing you are doing wrong. All the best - keep your chin up :)

the surgery itself took 45mins. i had the surgery done friday and my follow-up visit with the dr. is on tuesday. it seems to be healing well, i still have scabs, since it is only 3 days later. i will post what happens after my follow-up visit. there was a big weight lifted off my shoulders after the surgery was done, lots of mental stress for many years. hopefully they will not come back. good luck, if you deceide to get it done.

Good to hear! My doc recommended seeing a dermatologist first ... Is there any information online describing the burning out process?

i went to a dermatologist first and she said that i had scrotal calcinosis. i then went to a urologist who said she was wrong, it was sebacious cysts, nothing to worry about, he sees them quite often. he will burn them off. i did not go online to research the procedure. it has been 2 weeks since the surgery and the scabs are still healing. no regrets at all having this done.
