I too have these cysts, since puberty, i went to a doctor and he removed the biggest of them, but it still left me with 30+ small to medium sized ones. I am now 22, and there are bigger ones now then the doctor had removed before. There are more then 50 now, and about 10 of them have the diameter of quarters. I too feel embarrassed by these, and have bought a scalpel to remove them myself, i have cut open the skin, and removed the sack, this was very painful so i could only remove 3 big ones before the blood and pain was too great to continue. Unfortunately more small ones replaced the big ones and have been growing over the years. I plan to go back to the doctor to have him remove ALL of them, including the small ones. Unfortunately the ones i have removed, and the doctor has removed, have left ugly scars on my scrotum. I feel if i have them all removed, my sac will be extremely ugly with scars, not as bad as the big lumps, but still not pretty. I also feel these lumps have made me sterile. My x and i tried to have a baby, and was unsuccessful, also my cum is not white, its more of a grey. Is this a sign i am sterile? I have seen porn and my cum does not look like any of what ive seen.

Hey there - first of all you need not worry about any of the stuff you mention in your post above. Its all very normal and nothing unnatural or to be worried about. The best thing you can do is what you are doing - go see your doctor. He/She will be totally no fussed by the cycst as they will have seem them a hundred times in the last week. They are very very common.
One thing you must not do is remove them yourself. This is likely to a, cause infection, b. leave scarring c, allow them to grow back as the key bits of the cyst will not have been removed.
Its very, very *unlikely* to have made you infertile You semen colour is quite normal. Again, I would encourage you to raise this concern with you doctor so he/she can explain better than I can in a blog post as to why this wont be the case.
I understand why you would worry, but its really nothing to be embarrased about. Best tackle it head on, see your doctor and et on with your life.
Good for you for taking decisive action. Be strong and good luck!

I used Detol Heathy Touch (Instant Sanitizer), it dried out the first couple layers of skin to be able to squeeze it out. I continued to squeeze gentle after about 2-3 mins and a clear substance came out and then I reapplied more of the sanitizer. It sort of stung a little but no different to one of those menthol based/cool sensation lube and condoms.

Any young people with only 1 or a few cysts should treat themselves only as a last resort. The gentlemen on here prescribing self treatment have very severe cases and have experienced multiple careless doctors evaluations. I started off with one Large cyst and treated myself (improperly). Now my scrotum and shaft are completely covered in tiny cysts(honestly 50 per square inch in some places). Please go see a doctor before you treat yourself. Thanks to everyone for posting.

I have had scrotal sebaceous cysts since i was about 24. I also have fordyce's spots on the shaft of my penis and balls. I tend to sweat alot which i believe can be related to my condition. I would say I sweat much more than normal person. I believe my cysts formed because my fordyce's spots get irritated and I started to itch them way to much because it felt really good. While doing this I noticed that cysts started to form because of rupturing the gland. The cysts form because of blocked glands which can happen on their own but can happen more frequently when irritated by rubbing or itching.
Here is an example of what Fordyce's spots are. I bet most of you have this too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordyce's_spot
I also shaved my balls and it absolutely did not help the problem because the Fordyce's spots are usually around the hair follicle. I have gotten some cysts from ingrown hairs as well.
This problem has been so embarrassing for me and it took me 6 years to actually go to the urologist to get the cysts checked. I made an appointment - The doctored confirmed that they were cysts. ----Note--- tell the doctor that they bother you and that they are uncomfortable and that they keep growing. If you tell the doctor that it is a purely cosmetic issue the insurance company will not cover the removal procedure.---- The doctor then scheduled me for surgery which I went in for today. The procedure was not that bad other than the embarrassment i felt when the nurses asked me what I was in there for. Much better than feeling the "Are those herpes" question from the chicks you are seeing. The surgery took about 45 minutes. I had 5 cysts about the size of peas removed. The procedure was pretty painless and they give you good drugs to manage the pain after. I already feel much better about my decision to get them removed. I feel in control of my life again. There is not too much information on the web about this condition and I feel its important to tell my story. I will update on how it turns out as time goes on. I read through every post on this thread and here is what I can tell you.
1. Dont Rub or Itch your sack or penis.
2. Do not shave your balls because of risk of ingrown hairs
3. Do no use products such as lotions on your balls because you may clog the pore. Clog Pores lead to cysts.
4. Go see a urologist - Do not waste time with a mediocre dermatologist. Urologist are actually real doctors that go to real med school. There are many dermatologist and few urologist. Why do you think that is. Its easier to become a dermatologist.
5. Do not try and remove them yourself. Could you imagine getting an infection down there and losing your balls or worse everything.
6. Wash yourself throughly down there to make sure you clear your pores.
I know how embarrassing it is to deal with this problem and I know what it is like for a woman to make you feel bad about yourself because of this issue. Don't let it rule you. .. Be proactive .. Get them removed. If this post has helped you please let me know. Or if you have any questions feel free to reply. I will answer as I am still going through the recovery process

I've done the same with mine, they remove with a bit of force, I usually use a sharp and VERY clean blade to puncture the skin and scrap until I can get the cyst pod out, I have several and from time to time I remove them this way...read this post at the link below, might easy some of you minds

it's a normal thing, I have them too and have removed some over the years myself, the biggest ones i have are about the size of a strawberry seed and that's when I remove them...I've had SEVERAL partners over the years and truth be told only 1 had really noticed and I have no problem explaining what they are, it's NORMAL and it's not like an STD or anything...I have a GREAT girl now and told her about them and she doesn't think any thing of them! Don't worry to much bro!

i had them removed and it was not that painful. The healing process is still slow but the feeling of having them gone is very liberating. They only re occur in five percent of patients from what I read. It was definitely worth getting them removed. I will no longer have to field "what are those" questions.

Hey all. I too have had this since ~16yo (now 22). Had a pretty anxiety ridden sex life. Worrying about if girls will see or feel, making sure its DARK haha. I had a girlfriend from 18 - 21 who knew about them (eventually) but did not mind (bless her). About 6 months ago a girl I was seeing asked if I had genital warts, if I was going to die...etc haha. I told her what it was but, she didn't want to see me after (b***h? :P) and it made me quite uninterested in the female form for awhile. The next girl after that.. I was too nervous she'd see them and couldn't get it up (thought they were caused by excess testosterone!? haha)
My older brother has them too I found out a little while ago ---> GENES.
After reading your posts I have the confidence to go see a doctor about this as I would like this weight lifted off my shoulders (or balls). Is there anyone from Australia that has gone through the procedure and knows of the cost or if it is covered by medicare/can be treated free at public hospital? Good Job for anyone that's had to live with this condition. I wish it were more widely spoke about so that everyone felt more comfortable talking about it. Anyone thought of an online campaign to spread awareness or something? Fight the good fight. Live life. #YOLO

I am 37 and have had these cysts aswell. They are embarrassing and hence have not had a girlfriend for quite sometime as a result. I had a large one form on the underside of my penile shaft, just above the scrotum. I had it surgically removed for $1200.00 in a private hospital a few years ago now. Of course it left a scar, but is now far less obvious than what it was. To battle the smaller ones I use a gel called "witchdoctor" which is an antiseptic gel. They do not like this stuff and over time they will head, dry out and slowly flake away, layer by layer of skin. They are not an STD or anything sexually transmitted. However try telling that to a girl that discovers them, I just say it was a form of acne, which it is related to. Plenty of people have these as I have discovered. So if you are a new case reading this, the condition sucks but you are certainly not the only one who suffers from it.
P.S. Because this condition is classed as elective surgery, you will be waiting for years on a public hospital waiting list. Best to book in
privately to get the situation recifiied.

Ok guys, here's the score. I had one large cyst about the size of a pea on my sac about 10 years ago. Very embarrassing with the ladies so i thought enough was enough. luckily I worked in a laboratory and had access to sterile hyperdermic needles. So after quite a lot of Dutch courage (booze) I made a small laceration in my sac which split the cyst. lots of white/yellow puss and a bit of blood but after a day or two all gone and no scarring. It really wasn't painful at all. Antiseptic cream for a few days and job done.
Btw, I'm 37 now and still have 4 very small cysts (1mm) which i just squeeze every week. Skin breaks and out comes the puss. These are no bother whatsoever.
This problem affects at least 25% of males at some point. Don't worry. If they're that large and numerous have surgery (if it's free like in the UK). If not a bottle of whiskey, tissues, a sharp sterile instrument and balls (no pun intended) and DIY. If I could anyone can. Trust me, be brave and once you've done the first one you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.
