I was not at all trying to be nasty. And i did have this problem for over a year.( Mabye you should not be nasty). Scabies are growing problem all over the world. No one wants to talk about it,forsure no one wants to admit to having it.So you have it but you need to work.So you go there, touch everything and pass it along to un knowing families. Thats great, cause the only way to escape it now is to quit your job and start riding a different bus to your new employment, and hope like hell an infected person didnt ride that same bus,or the person that cleans the buses has not contracted the "Bug" Further more doctors are just drug pushers. So they will perscribe treatments knowing dam well its out of date and the bug has already built a resistance to the creams/shampoo. Scabies has been around since B.C Common areas of the body it will or "can affect. Behind ears, shoulder blades, around belt area, backs of hands, between fingers, inner upper legs... calf and tops of feet.Dont be fooled, the area most irritated is the lower leg (calf) . I dont know why or how. I went through absolute hell ,i had doctors tell me it was dry skin due to dry climate.. spent hundreds of dollars trying to rid this thing... if your itching like crazy, you have a bug. So i went to extreme ( of course after trying everything else) bought a two litre bottle of "Clorox Concentrate" and a spray bottle. Stripped my house of all bedding, towels clothing ect.Coats i tossed it all in the garbage. Then i vacumed the hole house.I mixed the clorox in the spray bottle 50/50 with water. I sprayed the whole house down as i walked my way to the bathroom.(Think of everything) What about inside your fridge? your car, cell phone, keys ect ect ect ect( Reinfection takes one microscopic contact). I filled the bathtub, dumped two cups of Clorox in the water. There were lots of damaged things due to bleaching from the spray, but the seven year itch is now gone and i can finaly rest.

I have this disease. My twin and mom have it also. It is horrible and the only thing that makes it feel slightly better is tanning. I have tried everything and nothing helps. I just went to wash my hands at work and some water went on my arms and no my arms are so itchy. Some days its almost unbareable. People think it is in your head because they dont see a rash or anything. I wish doctors could find out exactly what it is so I can be treated. Its sad when you cant go in a pool or go into the ocean because the fear of being itchy. After I shower I have to blow dry my hair for 20-30 min and try not to focus on it and will also put the blow dryer on my skin just to burn it. I really just dont want to deal with this everyday for the rest of my life. Going to the doctors is pointless, I hate having to tan all the time and damage my skin but there is nothing else that helps

I'm very glad I found this website. I've had this 'disease' for about 4 years now. It started around July 4th the first year and lasted until about September. I lived in Iowa at that time which has the 4 seasons. However, I live in Seattle now and I still get it, except it has already started and it is only April 12th. It seems like it starts earlier every year. It also doesnt bother me in the fall and winter. My itchyness is only on my legs after I shower (only in the morning). But I do get a few 'pricks' on my arms and usually goes away within 30-45 minutes. I end up going to work looking and feeling like a mess because it is so hard to get ready in the morning. It doesn't bother me if I shower in the afternoon or night. Could it be a hormone that is most high in the morning since that is the only time it bothers me? I will do some research into this. I am also going to try the soap/shampoo/conditioner without SLS. See if that works...

Best of luck to everyone with this issue.

Itching (pruritis) especially during showers can be a sign of choleostasis or when bile salts aren't being excreted properly and can build up in the blood stream. You should have your liver enzymes taken and know that just because these may be in the normal limits doesn't mean that the liver or gallbladder is free of problems. Gallbladder stones, decreased enzymes flow ect can cause problems.

Well, I too suffer from this horrible condition and as a few others have mentioned, although likely related somewhat to sensitive skin, whatever that really means, I can tell you after suffering for 35 yrs with this and testing all the things that others have mentioned, soaps, towels, drying off, not drying off, hot showers (works most of the time but not all), cold showers, etc etc etc. I can tell you for sure mine is linked to weather conditions, specifically low pressure systems moving into the region. Unfortunately, I live in an area where we get a lot of this. Anytime, there is a low pressure system that comes in the region the itch is much much harder to control. With the opposite occuring in high pressure (clear skies) systems. I am convince that the condition has something to do with the combination of pressure release on our bodies (due to low pressure system) and water coming into contact with our skin. Perhaps as the chiropractor mentioned in an earlier post regarding static charge being released, perhaps in this case releases more rapidly when pressure is lower and water is on your skin. After all, water is a great conductor of electricty. I do not have the condition under high pressure conditions, regardless of how much I shower. This of course doesn't provide a solution or why some of us would react this way to pressure systems and other or fine and in part why I am responding to this blog. I am wondering if we all have something in common? Obvious to me is we must have? e.g anxious, stressed, no major ailments that I can think of, I had varicose veins in my legs at a younger age (20s), I like my rum, chips (not healthy I know), skinny (believe it or not even with the chips) all of my life, played sports (hockey, ball etc). Perhaps if I took better care of my diet it would help however I use to have a great diet when younger with same results. Anyway, if everyone would share what they could perhaps we could at the very least begin to pinpoint or zero in on what is really going on in our bodies.

Hello,

I am 26 and have suffered from this on and off all my life and the best thing I have found is using a hair dryer on the itching skin to heat it up and when it cools down the itch is gone ... Don't know why but it really does work.

I have issue this issue sometimes after taking a bath which is so annoying, i once decided to avoid drying my self with towels and just let my body dry by it self slowly and it worked, i tried it the next time and it was great, i'm not sure if it could work with u guys but till now after 3 years i still use this technic.

although I've heard that using body lotions containing lactic acid helps.

Hi im so glad to find this post.

I ve had this problem since i was 16 and i am 19  years old male now. The itching comes on and after shower and on and after sweating (both sweating from sports or sometimes hot drinks or hot rooms). So far there has been two thing helping me. After sweating throughly, lets say running for 10 minutes the itching goes away (allthough the first 5 minutes can be real hell), then untill the next shower the itching wont return. Also i ve noticed that when i sat down behind computer for days and then need to sweat the itching is worse. I think it might be related to breathing wrongly or not enough, it seems like the itching is more likely to come when i dont get enough air. Other wierd thing that might not be related is that after shortening my long hair I was relieved a bit, meybe it was because showers became much shorter. Or meybe it can have something to do with static electricity? I can literaly hear the electricity if i comb my rather long curly hair.

Another thing is that the itchiness went over for summer time when i changed my lifestyle from basicly sitting behind computer all day to more physical work and lots of sweating.

I HAVE SUFFERED FROM THIS FOR 7 YEARS NOW SO I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT U ARE GOING THROUGH. I AM A 31 YEAR OLD MALE AND LIKE U THE ONLY THING THAT HELPS ME IS A TANNING BED. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE TELL ME THAT THE HOSPITAL/CLINICS HAVE ACUTAL UV MACHINES THAT GIVE U THE RELIF, BUT NOT THE TOASTED LOOK ALL THE TIME. I HAVE NEVER FOLLOWED UP WITH IT THOUGH. GOING TO THE TANNING BED EVERY OTHER DAY CURES IT FOR ME. ALSO .....STEAM....., IF I GET IN A SHOWER AND TURN ON ONLY HOT WATER, WHILE NOT GETTING IN THE WATER, JUST LETTING YOURSELF GET STEAMED REAL GOOD, THAT WILL DO THE TRICK ALSO. I READ A POST ONLINE WHERE SOMEONE HAD TOLD ABOUT GOING TO A SAUNA AND THAT REALLY HELPING FOR A FEW DAYS AT A TIME, SAME AS THE TANNING BED. IT IS TRULY A HORRIBLE THING TO SUFFER FROM. MY FAMILY HAS HEARD THE SAME COMPLAING FROM ME FOR YEARS, BY KNOW THEY WANT A CURE AS BAD AS I DO. ITS GOOD TO KNOW IM NOT THE ANLY ONE WHO HAS THIS.

I am Cembera Richard, 22 years old, i have had this problem for 10 years now.

Probably, no one has heard of it in my soceity has heard of it, but it is severe if I shower after missing my routine, I noticed though that if i got a greater pain, it distructs me, like the day i hit my head on a pipe after a bath, i felt no mor itching but only the pain from the bruise.

I used to deal with the SAME THING and it drove me crazy all the time. I always jumped back in the shower with lotion and a rag and that helped temporarily, but earlier this year I tried some goats milk bar soap recommended to me and its almost completely stopped. I still get the itch on my right arm but its very rare. I get my soap from cibolocreekcandle.com hope this info helps because I KNOW the torture
