I have low platelets, so that post re: this was very interesting to me. One of my doctors told me that my theory regarding the quick temperature differential and the over sensitivity to it makes complete sense to him AND he has seen it before. Has something to do with capillaries. If I exit the shower carefully using a heater in he the bathroom, get into a bathrobe and then quickly into my clothes...I am fine. Only one time, perhaps out of 100s of times did I have minimum itching doing it this way. It DOES work 99.9% of the time, so please try it. Don't leave the shower area without quickly drying off and being clothed and make sure the shower area is warm. Think it through. IT WORKS!

Hi  I have suffered this problem for the last 40 years. Recently I was sick and could not eat for a few days.  The itch improved.  I then started looking at food and discovered that you can have an intolerance to Potatoes (night shade vegetables).  I have removed all night shade vegetables from my diet and I have seen a big improvement.  Thought this may be of interest.

I am 15 and I have had this problem for 2 years. I itch really bad every time I get out of the shower. I have not seen a doctor but I have found that it helps a lot when I put icy hot on wherever the itch occurs which is usually on my legs for me... Hope this helps

I've been having the same problem for the past 3 months or so. I've tried various creams and sprays, but I often itch more after the application. Cortizone shots work well, but are not recommended as an ongoing cure. And the symptoms return after about 10 days anyway. Like you, I have found that hot water makes the itching (and the red bumps) worse. So I run cold water over a hand towel and dab it on the problem areas. Since the worst areas are my arms, I often drape these hand towels over them while relaxing—especially when the itching is prominent; sometimes I use ice as well as the hand towels. I also avoid any fabrics on my arms as much as possible. I hope this helps. If you find any additional answers, please let me know.

Super hot showers were the key for me! As hot as I could stand it! My father suffers from this also.

I don't think you've gone mad. I have tried static guard and it works, but for your lungs sake, you can't use allot of it. I will tell you though, I am grateful that it's not another health issue. I have enough of those. Thank you Jesus. amen.

As Andrea mentioned, super hot showers was the main cure for me with this affliction. I have had it for the past 20 years. Here are some tips:

1) Before going into the shower, make sure the water is as hot as you can stand it. If you start getting wet while the water is lukewarm and then gets hot, you will still itch afterwards.

2) If the shower temperature does not fluctuate and stays hot, you do not need to rush taking a shower. However, if the water temperature starts going down, finish up quickly.

3) Dry yourself right after but not too quickly. I notice that if you rush to do anything right after the shower, it will accelarate the itching.

4) Dress right after showering. Clothes seem to work in keeping the itching sensation down.

Hope this helps some of you. It is just something I have to live with but as long as I have hot water, it is something I can deal with. The only drawback has been when I go to hotels where the water temperature doesn't get too hot. :-(

My wife who is in excellent health has the same problem, with increased heartbeat and not feeling well while itching...Avoid ingesting drugs and chemicals that do nothing but mask the problem...so far the only thing that stops the iching cold, is a cream I found online by Templespa called "Be Still" h$56 for 1.7oz, a bit expensive, but how much is comfort worth? You decide.

Correction on the above...it is Templespa "Peace be still" seeing that we live in a society that is based on consumption, and that creames are made with a viscosity for consumption, we cut it down with sweet almond oil making it easier to spread...I am still experimenting with other options...stay tuned we shall overcome...my friends do not call me DaVinci for no reason...stay away from chemicals, and snake oil solutions...there is a natural explanation to everything...
