I have the same thing and have no clue as to why it occurs, but I do have a temporary solution for you: ice. When the itch happens at night, I get a plastic ice block or bag from the freezer and put my foot on it. It doesn't take long for the itch to disappear, usually for the rest of the night. Good luck.

I'm glad I found this, because it is nice to know other people have my same issues and I'm not going crazy!

I have itching all over my body, especially at night. I definitely have cold urticaria. I get the hives, itching, and intense pain (as well as feeling like I am going to faint from cold, which really happened to me once so now I avoid those situations). I get the cold urticaria just when exposed to cold, but I get the itching at night when I'm trying to fall asleep.

I have no clue what to do either, but I have been to MANY doctors who did not believe me or care whatsoever about my cold urticaria.

I wish someone actually knew of a remedy.  Most people who post here don't quite get what the rest of us are suffering.  Those who describe wanting to jab and drag a blunt object into the soles of their feet and/or seeking relief by dragging your foot across the carpet know exactly what's going on.  This is KILLING me.  I am now experiencing the pain during the day for the first time, but the pain usually occurs during bedtime (sometimes waking me out of a dead sleep).

I'm taking a B vitamin complex it can't be that. My dermatologist suggested I try Sarna cream, it's OTC but expensive and it didn't work for me. I've also read that it may be related to liver issues-reflexology it may be related to the reproductive system. And I've also seen that it can be caused by stress or a traumatic temperature change. Also that it may be an allergy.....Ugh I wish I could find something that helps. It keeps me up at night and drives me crazy!

I have the same problem with itchy feet.  I use the edge of a pumice stone and scratch until it bleeds and then wipe them down with alcohol. It burns but better than that infernal itching. I think it is neruological. I take a gabapentin to help me sleep. I do have restless leg syndrome too. Think I'll try the ice. I don't think its liver because there would be itching in other places too.

YES Does not occur all the time but is usually on teh bottom of my feet, sometimes near a toe and sometimes in the middle of my foot or the base of big toe. It first feels like something crawling under my skin and if I rub it or scratch it, it gets worse. Can't stop scratching. I hae used lanacaine and that seems to help. But it does come back.

I think you are right about the cold or pressure urticaria. My son has cold urticaria. My husband has the itchy feet. If I look really closely, there are little bumps sometimes. Those could be little hives. They go away when the itching goes away. He paints his entire top of the foot sometimes with iodine. This seems to help him. I have tried silly things like vagisil (which has benzocaine in it). It seemed to help a little; especially if he has already broken the skin from scratching too much. I have thought about trying a warm soak with vinegar and listerine and water. Someone gave me that suggestion. I have not tried it yet because I don't believe it is athlete's foot.
I look forward to someone posting a good cure for this. It seems like it should be simple, but so far we are baffled

Same problem, no solution, only my left foot, drives me crazy. I year ago I received two spider bites on the sole of my foot while staying in Alaska, I am not sure that it has anything to do with it. I will be interested to hear your results.

Wow - I am relieved to find I am not the only one suffering from this malady. I have been 'treating' the severe itch with antifungals for athlete's foot, but I do not have any symptoms of athlete's foot. I have also heard this could be related to diabetes.  The unpleasant sensation is more pronounced on the soles of my feet, but the tops of my feet, ankles and calves itch as well and occasionally the palms of my hands and between fingers. Itching of the lower extremeties most often occurs at night and is unbearable.  I can empathize with those who want to scrape their skin off - that's exactly how I feel.

I have this too. Not constantly but every so often I get such extreme itching on the bottom of my foot that it causes me to stand on it and insanely scratch on carpet or any rough surface. Feels like it's an internal itch-not topical. No rash, redness, etc. Just extreme itching. Don't think dermatologist can handle this BC it's not a surface itch but just under the surface. This may be a new condition doctors don't know how to treat.
