same problem, same doctor visits, still no answers. it never happens when im barefoot or when i go running, but it does happen almost instantly when i put on flannel-lined slippers with no socks. thinking it had to do with my sweaty feet (running shoes breathe better than flannel slippers), i started using anti-perspirant stick on my feet (Sure brand). i *think* it helped reduce the number of times the itching occurred, but definitely not a 100% solution. i still get that maddening itch, mostly on the bottoms of my feet, less frequently on my lower ankles or between toes, at least 1-4 times a week. but i do feel it is lessened with the deodorant. i encourage you to try it and see if it helps a little for you, too. at least its cheap--i just buy two sticks of deodorant instead of one when i go to the store.
So far, three different dermatologists in two different states have been useless and clueless on this. it just seems terribly common for NOT ONE SINGLE DOCTOR out there to have looked into it at some point. Is there such a thing as a foot fungus that has no visible effect on the skin??
and no, it's clearly not diabetes or lymphoma or restless legs, so if people who are just Googling for answers and attention would please stop posting your hare-brained comments here, that'd be great.

forgot to add that i've tried both natural fiber (cotton, wool) as well as synthetic fiber socks, and haven't noticed any difference.

I thought I was the only one, it drives me insane on my feet and sometimes ankles. And then my daughter in law told me she had the same thing when she was pregnant with twin girls. She has scars from scratching. Hormones or blood flow is what I think. I am in menopause and have always had "cold feet" issues. My feet always feel warm when this is happening.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I put my feet in warm baking soda and warm water. It works for a little while but I want it to go away permanently.

I have same condition. When I remove my socks at night I get itchy in ankles and feet. I also get itchy after shower. I develop itchy ness when cold also. Researching on the internet suggested maybe vitamin d deficiency or allergy. In my case may be allergic to whey and or sugar

I have the same condition. I scraped the bottom of my left foot so much today on a chair rung trying to relieve the itch that I now have a painful blister! Just saw my primary care physician last week who looked at some of my "scratching" areas and told me to carry around a dryer sheet to see if it helped. I didn't ask him why. I didn't want to know. It doesn't help. Seeing there are so many people, just on this site alone suffer suffering from this, one can only wonder if it isn't environmental or perhaps in what we're consuming?

Yes I have the same symptom on one of my feet.. Has been tolerable but seems to b getting worse. I haven't seen a doctor yet.. Because there is really nothing for him to examine. So I have hesitated going. Hasn't affected my sleep yet . Nothing topical helps.

Does it go away for only a few hours or does it get rid of it until the next time??

I have had this for about 5 years!! It comes back maybe every one every 3 months. I only first notice it when i rub my foot on carpet and then the insanely unbearable itching will begin. When I do get it, it will last between 1-2 weeks the itching does not go away during this time at all! YES ALSO KEEPING ME UP AT NIGHT. I have tried many different creams including Sensodyne, Rapid Antiseptic Skin Relief Cream, Stingose, Eucalyptus Oil, Tee Tree Oil, billions of anti-itch creams and still NOTHING! The itch will go away for maybe 2 minutes after i put a cream on but still nothing. It is driving me insane so now I am finally going to visit the doc to see what she has to say.
The only thing that I have found that will stop the itch for a bit is ice, but it will then come back after 2 hours or so

Yes I have a maddening itch on the soles of my feet with no visible rash. It seems to be an evening thing and will start after dinner at night and when I'm in bed. If I get hot it is even worse.

l get it also but it's on the ball of my foot below the big toe. l got it last month right after I had gotten a pedicure. No signs of redness, no bumps, just an irritating uncontrollable itch

Yes! I don't get it! I have had it for a few months now and its just on the bottom of my big toe on my right foot. No other place. No signs of rash or fungus. Nothing. It does get red from time to time from me rubbing it on the carpet like a mad woman trying to get some relief. Its so annoying. I wish i knew how to cure it. I need answers before i go crazy andamputate my toe. :/
